Chapter 40
Wei Jing’an was dragged down into the dark depths of the lake. Before her scream could escape her throat, it was suppressed by the overwhelming rush of water.
Was she going to die so soon? The thin fabric of her athletic pants was torn by the soft touch. Her smooth, white calf was entangled with a section of hideous, blue tentacles. The suction cups clung tightly to her calf, as if countless tiny mouths were gnawing at it.
She slowly opened her eyes, somehow overcoming her body’s instincts, and relaxed as she was rolled downwards by the tentacle. Sensing her calm posture, the tentacle wrapped around her calf no longer tightened its grip.
But her leg was still marked with a purple-red bruise.
She saw the true form of the underwater monster. It was a giant octopus, entirely blue, with two black eyes on its massive head. Its human-like features filled her with unspeakable terror and disgust.
It was simply too disgusting.
The octopus’s shape, its blue skin, its face bearing a human expression of hunger.
Wei Jing’an saw shiny saliva dripping down.
She stared at it intently, her disgust for the giant octopus gradually overwhelming her fear. Her familiarity with water became her lifeline at this moment. She slowly arched her back in the water, touching the sticky tentacle.
The bottom of the octopus’s tentacle was densely covered with suction cups. It looked only twice as thick as Wei Jing’an’s calf. Its other tentacles hung quietly at its sides, as if Wei Jing’an was already a prey in its mouth, no need to waste any more energy.
It could easily eat the delicious food.
After all, she looked so frail, pitiful, and powerless.
As she was about to be wrapped in the tentacle and dragged into the giant mouth of the octopus, Wei Jing’an’s other hand reached into her pocket and pulled out the utility knife she always carried with her. The blade was small and easy to carry, thin and sharp.
Don’t die, can’t die.
Wei Jing’an’s heart screamed.
Even facing a giant octopus that could make her brain stop thinking and her body instinctively tremble in fear, she still held a glimmer of hope.
She had successfully entered Qingda University, met her heartthrob, and was even invited by her heartthrob to Tanshan Park.
How could she die like this?
The giant octopus, full of terror and evil, lay quietly at the bottom of the lake. Only the tentacle wrapped around her was wriggling towards its open mouth. Tanshan Park didn’t have many visitors on weekdays. After all, strange disappearances often happened here. Was it caused by the octopus in front of her?
Whether it was or not, Wei Jing’an wanted to take a gamble.
The octopus, which only dared to act when the boys were gone and only frail girls were alone, clearly had other tentacles. It could have taken two people at the same time, but it had chosen her specifically.
If it wasn’t picky, it meant it was weak.
So weak that it only dared to hunt smaller human females.
Wei Jing’an seized the opportunity. When the tentacle was unaware, she used all her strength, fiercely plunging the sharp blade into the tentacle. The soft, slippery tentacle stretched out violently, spewing out a foul-smelling liquid.
Breaking free, she desperately swam upwards.
She surfaced, only managing to take a breath of fresh air before her legs were pulled downwards by an even stronger force.
Before she sank back into the water, she saw Lin Yanzhou running towards her.
The surface of the lake was like a bomb had been thrown into it. The exploding water, carrying a vast, dark, icy aura, rushed towards the bottom of the lake. The giant octopus’s body trembled violently. Then, its eight tentacles clung tightly to the bottom of the lake, supporting its heavy body as it hid in the darkness.
The human male body, fragile and vulnerable, yet exuded a dark aura that made it tremble in fear.
The delicious food rushed into the man’s arms without hesitation. Her frail arms hugged the man tightly, as if clinging to the last straw.
The food’s joy was transmitted to its senses through the surging waves. At that moment, it suddenly experienced the feeling of being captured as food. Facing a more powerful predator, it didn’t even have the courage to beg for mercy.
The blue giant octopus collapsed into a puddle.
The black-red soft touch pierced its head, quickly absorbing the nutrients from its body. It hadn’t eaten for a long time, otherwise, it wouldn’t have been injured by such a frail food. Soon, the struggling, waving blue tentacles seemed to have their moisture sucked out, leaving only dry skin.
Wei Jing’an plunged into Lin Yanzhou’s arms. She didn’t know if it was her delusion or if he had actually come. At that moment, she just wanted to follow her instincts and embrace him.
Hug him tightly.
Only he could calm her chaotic heart.
The man’s body always had a damp, icy scent. This scent was even stronger in the dark depths of the lake, almost overpowering the blood splattered by the octopus. She buried her whole face in his embrace, hearing the sound of his heartbeat.
The soft touch that entangled her calf again made her unconsciously moan, “So disgusting, so disgusting. It’s back.”
Lin Yanzhou held her, looked down, his expression unclear.
The tentacles, having feasted, were full of energy. They couldn’t help but entwine the woman’s slender, smooth calf. The blue tentacle had gotten there first, leaving a deep purple mark.
The tentacle gently licked the wound, slowly circling the area. Like a well-fed puppy wanting to be affectionate with its master, it rubbed affectionately.
But the words she uttered were to make it “get away, far away.”
Lin Yanzhou’s face darkened. The hand on her waist tightened, and his other hand pressed on the back of her head, holding her tightly against him.
He coaxed, “It’s okay, it won’t hurt you.”
Although he said that, the woman’s trembling body in his arms made him feel sorry. The tentacle reluctantly left her calf, its slippery head gently touched her knee bend, then her ankle, before retracting back into its body.
He returned to his flawless human form.
He held Wei Jing’an as if he were holding a newborn baby who was still ignorant of the world, firmly supporting her hips with one hand and placing his other hand on her back. Wei Jing’an let him hold her like that. They left the lake, both wet.
They left a trail of wet marks along the way.
It’s back.
She should have been shy and nervous, being held in her heartthrob’s arms. But the hunger in her stomach made her forget about anything else. She rested her chin on Lin Yanzhou’s shoulder, looking down at the man’s soaked coat.
The sweet scent overpowered the foul-smelling liquid.
She couldn’t help but take a deep breath.
Lin Yanzhou’s steps faltered slightly, and the corners of his lips curled up.
“Thank you,” Wei Jing’an felt she should leave Lin Yanzhou quickly. She forced herself to look away, staring at the trampled pebbles, “I’m fine now. Put me down, I can walk by myself.”
Lin Yanzhou said, “Your leg is injured, it needs to be treated promptly. If you walk by yourself, how long will it take?”
Wei Jing’an felt the desire in her body growing stronger.
She was eager to taste the skin beneath his coat, to see if it was as delicious as the scent he exuded. As soon as this thought appeared, she was startled! How could she have such a thought? Had she been infected by the octopus, becoming a monster that eats people?
Wei Jing’an anxiously patted him. She had exhausted too much energy at the bottom of the lake and had no strength. It was more like she was being affectionate.
“I… I can walk by myself, really, you don’t have to bother.”
As soon as she finished speaking, she gasped.
Instead of listening to her, Lin Yanzhou pushed her thigh upwards, holding her firmly in his arms, and walked towards the gathering of students without stopping.
Everyone subconsciously stopped what they were doing, staring dumbfounded at the approaching pair.
Lin Yanzhou’s large hand covered the back of Wei Jing’an’s head, pressing her whole face against his broad shoulders. Her cheeks turned crimson, and her pupils gradually took on a passionate anticipation. The noisy chatter passed by her ears. After she was carried onto the car and the door was closed, she could no longer control herself and bit his shoulder.
The blood of the tentacles was domineering and sticky. They were the race most difficult to control their emotions, and they were also the most cruel and vicious race. Even with beautiful and seductive human skin, their inner nature remained unchanged.
The best at controlling this in their family was Lin Yanqing.
Yet, Lin Yanqing, who was still in his rut, the most good-natured of the family, would also uncontrollably expose his vicious nature when faced with a wife who showed him a look of admiration or lingered for too long.
A few months ago, Lin Yanqing had fought with the shopkeeper in a jewelry store.
Lin Yanzhou, who was generally considered the most eccentric and gloomy of the family, was able to control his burgeoning lust during his rut by consuming animal blood, using appetite to suppress his desires.
Yet, even so, he couldn’t help but be drawn to the sweet scent of his beloved, like a carefully brewed strong medicine, attracting her to his side, willingly exposing her whole body to him.
The woman in front of him was clearly different.
She was like a starving wolf, biting his shoulder mercilessly. Her human teeth actually pierced his flesh, greedily sucking on the little blood.
The closed car window blocked the outside world’s prying eyes. Lin Yanzhou’s back pressed against the seat, his head tilted back, allowing the out-of-control Wei Jing’an to bite into his flesh relentlessly, never satisfied.
His hands rested firmly on her waist, and his voice, full of comfort, rang in her ear, “Slower, don’t rush.”
The sound of blood flowing into her throat echoed in the quiet car.
In her chaotic thoughts, Wei Jing’an vaguely touched upon a forgotten memory. At that time, she seemed to be holding something in her arms, something black-red, exuding an evil, sticky aura, obediently resting in her arms.
When she wanted to see it clearly, the mist rose, and the blurry memory dissipated.
Her hungry stomach was satisfied, and her sanity gradually returned. The bloody taste in her mouth reminded her of what she had just done. She immediately straightened her back, flustered and struggling to leave Lin Yanzhou’s embrace.
She uttered words of embarrassment and distress, “I’m sorry! I don’t know what’s wrong with me. Senior, are you okay?”
Lin Yanzhou’s clothes were disheveled, the buttons of his inner shirt were undone, revealing his firm, white skin. He tilted his head slightly, and a few blue veins were faintly visible on his slender neck. Under her tear-filled gaze, his Adam’s apple rolled up and down.
He said, “It’s okay.” He supported her waist and placed her beside him. Then he raised his hand and leisurely buttoned up the undone buttons.
Wei Jing’an nervously stared at him.
Lin Yanzhou glanced at the torn part of his coat, smiled meaninglessly, and asked her, “…Do you want to continue?”
Wei Jing’an’s eyes widened, her eyelashes fluttering helplessly.
She didn’t quite understand what he meant.
