Chapter 20: The Little Cowlick
Seeing Yu Mozhi’s expression, Liu Wu felt like he could already predict what kind of situation would unfold in the future.
From what Yu Mozhi said, it had only been two days since the little one came back, and he was already completely bewitched by her sugary charms. If a few more days passed, who knew how far things would go?
Weren’t you usually someone who disliked children? What’s going on? How could you not even have the slightest bit of defense?!
Yu Mozhi averted his gaze and changed the topic.
“Where’s that foolish kid Yue Han?”
“He insisted on coming with me,” Liu Wu replied without thinking. “But the kid still has work, so I told him to take care of that first. We’ll talk about the rest later. When he heard you were setting up a studio, he insisted on being part of your first batch of artists.”
Yu Mozhi had entered the entertainment industry fairly early. Now already twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old, he had been active in the circle for almost ten years. Within three years, he’d won multiple awards. Though many in the industry envied him, there were just as many who admired him.
Yue Han was one of those. Originally, he had applied to an art school, but he admired Yu Mozhi so much—his family was wealthy and let him pursue whatever he liked. Eventually, his skills were decent, and with a good-looking face, he managed to join Years Like Flowing Light, all just to get closer to his idol.
Now that Yu Mozhi had gotten into this situation, apart from Liu Wu, his manager-slash-nanny, the most anxious one was Yue Han. If Liu Wu hadn’t been keeping a tight watch on him lately, preventing him from getting involved, it wouldn’t just be Yu Mozhi hiding out here—it’d be the two of them sitting side by side, dodging the storm together.
And that made things even more of a headache.
“So what’s your plan?” Liu Wu asked. “You look so confident, but don’t go charging in just full of passion. You’re no match for those brainless fans.”
“They’ve kept things under wraps, but it’s not like there’s no evidence. The company wants to use me as a stepping stone for Jiang Nianyue. They’re trying to use the contract to threaten me—claiming I violated it and demanding a massive penalty. But we can also find proof that they fabricated evidence and violated the contract through various recent activities, and use that to demand a termination.”
Yu Mozhi’s pale fingertips rested lightly on the edge of the table as he spoke in a calm and orderly manner. When he looked up, his clear eyes were dark and deep, showing little emotion.
At a glance, that expression made one’s heart inexplicably uneasy.
After all, very few people could remain this calm and composed when they themselves were the target of such real harm. He looked as if this was all happening to someone else.
Sometimes, Liu Wu really wondered whether Yu Mozhi even had emotions. Ever since he had been assigned to manage him when he first entered the industry, Yu Mozhi had always been like this.
Back then, he wore slightly worn but clean clothes, his side profile pale and aloof—not exactly in great shape, yet still like an immortal stepping out of a painting.
Liu Wu hesitated for a moment, opened his mouth, and wanted to ask if he ever got angry. He was being pushed around like this, and he still looked so indifferent. But just as he was about to speak, the expression on that fairy-like face suddenly changed. The lines of his brows, eyes, and lips softened significantly.
Sensing something, Liu Wu turned to look behind—and saw the little one carefully carrying a full glass of water, tiptoeing over toward them. The little cowlick on her head swayed adorably with each step.
