Chapter 21: A Shattered Heart, Glued Back Together

“Daddy, here you go!”

The little dumpling had already walked over, her big eyes sparkling as she handed the cup of water in her hand to Yu Mozhi like she was presenting a treasure.

Yu Mozhi took it without a word and simply patted the little girl’s head.

Seeing the pretty little dumpling squint her large eyes in delight and gently nuzzle under Yu Mozhi’s hand, Liu Wu, who had previously thought Yu Mozhi lacked any warmth, suddenly felt a bit jealous.

Although she might be a bit of a handful at this stage, this little rascal was truly adorable. He really hadn’t seen such a beautiful little girl before.

“I’ve already contacted a few directors I’m familiar with, along with some video editors. The company’s approach to negotiations and their attempt to drag us down might just provide some evidence. For now, your job is to organize the details of your work from the past two years. Also, I found a potential location for a studio. Let’s go check it out this afternoon.”

“Got it. Honestly, I’ve been wanting to quit working for them for a while now. They’ve just been using their power to bully people. I’ll sort things out and wrap up the matters with the artists I’m managing.”

In the past two years, Yu Mozhi’s popularity had indeed dropped significantly. Even when he was willing to take on roles, directors would always negotiate with the company first and never offer him decent scripts. The fact that he didn’t have a terrible reputation now was purely due to his acting skills holding everything up.

The company Suiyue Liuguang probably got carried away with their success and really believed Yu Mozhi’s current achievements were solely thanks to their support. When people get arrogant, they start dreaming up ridiculous ideas, like having Yu Mozhi help promote other stars in the company or stir up fake relationships for publicity. When he refused, they began secretly making things difficult for him.

Now that the young master of the company had arrived, they were even bold enough to try and use Yu Mozhi as a stepping stone.

They assumed that since the company was powerful, even a film emperor like Yu Mozhi wouldn’t be able to stand against them without its backing.

You sons of bitches really think you’re some kind of genius, huh? Only reason Yu Mozhi stayed out of company politics was because he couldn’t be bothered. Otherwise, just look at the top male and female stars in other companies—anyone making money for the company gets pampered and protected.

Liu Wu was cursing internally when he suddenly caught a glimpse of the little dumpling running out of the kitchen again. Just as he turned his head, she had already reached him, holding another cup filled with water. Her soft little voice was instantly soothing.

Her round apple-cheeks lifted as she looked up, her naturally M-shaped smiley lips pouting slightly, glowing with a soft pink sheen.

“Uncle, Mianmian poured water for you too. Isn’t Mianmian very polite?”

Liu Wu: So… so sweet! Uncle is deeply moved!

His previously shattered heart was instantly pieced back together.

“Your name is Mianmian, right? You’re such a polite little sweetheart.” Liu Wu accepted the cup with a smile and patted the little girl’s head.

“It’s all because Daddy taught me well. Mianmian’s daddy is the best daddy in the whole world!”

The little lucky koi straightened her tiny chest, lifted her small face proudly, and didn’t forget to add a rainbow compliment while puffing up with pride.

Mianmian [excited]: As long as I flatter Daddy well, I’ll always be his favorite little sweetheart!
