Chapter 48 – A Familiar Feeling
Yue Han hadn’t even gotten to see the little darling he’d heard so much about and longed to meet, yet this was the kind of treatment he got. If he found out, he might end up crying.
“It’s Yue Han,” Liu Wu said, half-laughing and half-crying. “I’ll go answer it. You continue.”
Although he was known as a muddled emperor, the filming schedule for Fated was indeed tight. It seemed they were rushing to make the Golden Flower Awards selection in the first half of next year. And since the little one didn’t know many characters yet, they had to hurry and help her with her lines.
Yu Mozhi paused for a moment, then nodded. “Is his contract expiring? Let him come over. Once we’re done here, we’ll have him issue an announcement.”
“Alright, Brother Mo, I’ll go check on the ‘left-behind child’ we’ve forgotten.”
Liu Wu chuckled and walked to the side with his phone to answer the call.
Meanwhile, little Mianmian had a lollipop in her mouth, and her speech was so muffled that Yu Mozhi couldn’t make out a word she was saying.
How could she memorize her lines like this?
Yu Mozhi narrowed his eyes and reached out to tug at the stick of the lollipop, engaging in a little tug-of-war with the girl.
She blinked in confusion and instinctively bit down tightly, her muffled words still incomprehensible.
“Let go for now. You can eat it later.”
“No.” The little one bit the stick even harder, incredibly attached to the sweet treat.
“Mianmian, be good. Don’t bite so hard, it’ll ruin your teeth.”
Yu Mozhi felt like he was playing tug-of-war with a toddler as he flicked the plastic stick.
A strong fruity candy scent, mixed with the sweet smell of baby formula on the little one, clung to Yu Mozhi, and she even tried to snuggle into his arms.
“Mianmian doesn’t like Daddy anymore? You like candy more?”
That’s not true! Daddy’s always so insecure!
The little girl furrowed her brows, a helpless look on her face.
Finally, she reluctantly opened her mouth and watched as the strawberry-flavored lollipop was pulled away by Daddy. Her little tongue poked out and licked the corner of her lips, clearly still longing for the taste.
“Daddy actually compared himself to a sweetie!” That’s cheating!
Yu Mozhi wrapped the lollipop in its wrapper and said nothing. Honestly, he had almost lost that round.
“Yue Han’s already nearby. He couldn’t find the exact location, but he should be here in about two minutes.”
Liu Wu returned after the call, ignoring the sticky father-daughter moment and informed Yu Mozhi.
Just as they sat down, there were two knocks on the studio door before it opened.
The little one, who had been seriously looking at the script and learning pinyin, suddenly flinched and turned to look at the door.
“Yue Han, you’re here.” Liu Wu stood up and walked over.
“Hey, Brother Liu, Brother Mo.” The guy, with a sunny, handsome face, wore a black down jacket and—despite the low-key outfit—insisted on pairing it with a showy red scarf. He smiled sheepishly, greeted Liu Wu, then his gaze landed on the little girl. His eyes lit up instantly. “Aiya, this must be little darling Mianmian, huh?”
“Haven’t been resting well lately? Why do you look so pale?”
Seeing Yue Han about to walk over to the little koi, Liu Wu quickly asked.
“Sigh, don’t even mention it. Something weird’s been going on with my relatives. One of their little boys is temporarily staying with me, and maybe that’s why—I’ve been having nightmares and can’t sleep.”
Ah, no kidding.
The little one clutched the script in her arms, her big eyes blinking as she stared at the faint dark aura surrounding Yue Han.
Hm? Mianmian felt like she had seen that dark aura somewhere before?
