Chapter 50: Cotton Was Always the One Being Comforted, But Now She Can Comfort Others Too
This little dumpling really is a clever one. Normally, she looks so obedient, cute, and easy to tease, but in reality, she’s not dumb at all. Although she sometimes cries miserably, no one’s ever really taken advantage of her.
This morning, she woke up a bit earlier than usual. After arriving here, she couldn’t resist curling up in Yu Mozhi’s arms and falling back asleep. While she napped, Yu Mozhi had gone out to buy breakfast. He came back a little late, and by the time he returned, the little dumpling was already awake.
Yu Mozhi looked over at her. His dark eyes were deep and unreadable, his brows slightly furrowed. That usual intimidating expression now held a trace of confusion.
Clearly, Yu Mozhi hadn’t figured out the connection.
“This morning, on a whim, I showed the little dumpling a fan edit of one of your old TV shows. You know, to raise your status in her heart. Like, look how amazing her daddy is. But who would’ve thought your fans are that skilled? They turned a proper sci-fi drama into a melodramatic love story. And I have to admit, you seemed way more human in the edit.”
No one expected the little dumpling to actually understand it—and not just understand, but also extrapolate and add her own imagination.
Ah, truly a smart little dumpling.
“In other words, someone edited a storyline where you went looking for some wild woman outside…?” Yue Han suddenly caught on.
Seeing Liu Wu nod gravely, Yue Han nearly burst out laughing. “Liu-ge, are you sure those are fans of Mo-ge? Not his haters?”
Liu Wu: …The way you put it makes me suddenly unsure.
“Next time, on a whim, I might just toss you out into the freezing Kyoto winter,” Yu Mozhi said, hugging the little dumpling in his arms as he took the candy from Yue Han’s hand. “Mianmian doesn’t yet understand the seriousness of toothaches—but you should. Don’t secretly give her sweets… nephew.”
Yue Han: ??? Nephew??
“You had her call you ‘gege’ (big brother), so obviously you’re a generation below Mo-ge,” Liu Wu shrugged. “Besides, your mom is a big fan of Mo-ge. When she came to visit you, she went on and on about how you cried over a toothache as a kid, saying you were dying from the pain.”
Yue Han: When did that happen??? Mom?! Mom? Are you even my real mom??

Yue Han had always been a sunny, handsome young man. His slightly baby-faced looks and goofy smile made him feel like someone’s silly son. Within the industry, he had tons of older sister fans. Now, with his head hung low and that black aura lingering around him, he looked like a pitiful big puppy.
Little Mianmian, our temperate little fish, was always especially caring toward people on her side. Seeing that even her dad called Yue Han “nephew,” and even though he was shrouded in that black aura she didn’t like, she couldn’t help but reach out her tiny paw and gently pat him on the head.
Just like back when she was scared of thunderstorms, and the dragonfish elder sister in the Heavenly Pool gently patted her little head with her fin to comfort her.
Back then, people comforted Mianmian. But now, Mianmian was trying to grow up—she could comfort others too.
Unexpectedly, the moment her small hand patted him, that black aura around Yue Han instantly disintegrated and vanished without a trace as if it had encountered its nemesis.
The little dumpling jumped in surprise. Her hand froze midair.
Her eyes went wide as she looked down at her own hand.
Huh? Did that black aura go into Mianmian’s hand?
