Chapter 60: Little Dumpling Got Tricked
Little Dumpling finally opened her eyes.
“Yah!”
Her soft, babyish voice was full of childish innocence. No one knew if she had dreamed about something related to Yu Mozhi’s actions, but when her big eyes opened, they were still dazed. Her short little legs kicked around a few times.
Because of the way she was being held, her little body almost spun halfway around. Eventually, her tiny legs kicked against Yu Mozhi’s thigh. When she fully woke up, she found herself looking straight into Yu Mozhi’s calm and expressionless eyes.
Off camera, he was always like this—never showing much emotion, as if detached from the mundane world. Although he participated in various matters, he never seemed to take any of them to heart.
That was why there was rarely any warmth in those eyes.
Little Dumpling blinked in confusion. She propped herself up and looked down at her tiny legs, which were pressing against her daddy’s thigh. Her little hands were still holding Yu Mozhi’s finger, which had been poking her. In a soft and bewildered tone, she let out another babyish sound.
What was going on?
Too cute.
Liu Wu was watching from the side, and he couldn’t help but think that although he wasn’t some creepy uncle, he was starting to feel like one. I mean, come on—who could resist scooping up such an adorable little dumpling with that babyish voice and innocent gaze upon waking?
Apparently, some people really could resist. Not only that, but this person even went too far—continuing to poke the little girl’s chubby cheeks.
Little Dumpling felt the finger she was holding poke her cheek again.
“Yah! Daddy!”
She whined in protest, gripping Yu Mozhi’s finger with both hands, trying to stop him from poking her again.
But with her tiny strength, she couldn’t stop him at all. Her soft cheek got poked again.
“Eh!”
Every time he poked her, she let out a little cry.
Liu Wu watched from the side and felt like Yu Mozhi was really getting addicted to this. He looked like he was about to poke the little one until she started sobbing, “You…” Just stop already!
He had barely opened his mouth when he saw Little Dumpling suddenly let go and flop straight back onto the sofa. Her cheeks were puffed up, and her pink lips were pouting in an adorable sulk, clearly saying, “You poked me down, now I’m not getting back up.”
Liu Wu: …
Yu Mozhi, who still had his hand mid-air, about to poke again: …
Well then. Can’t win? Fake an injury.
You really are a little trickster.
Little Dumpling opened her mouth to complain, but Yu Mozhi seized the moment and asked, “What was Mianmian dreaming about just now?”
Little Dumpling instinctively stopped talking, thought for a moment, then immediately sat up from the sofa. Her small body scooted into Yu Mozhi’s arms, rubbing against him with her sweet baby scent. Pouting angrily, she lifted her little head and complained.
“Just now a big kitty tried to carry Mianmian away! It wanted to steal me from Daddy!”
“Oh, a big kitty.”
Yu Mozhi hadn’t expected such an answer. He hadn’t really intended to ask anything serious—after all, children’s dreams were often weird and random. He didn’t expect Little Dumpling to say anything specific. Her dreams probably just reflected her lingering lack of security, which he believed would gradually improve over time.
His fingers gently combed through her messy hair from sleep. He wasn’t very skilled at this kind of thing and was usually careful not to mess with her hair too much. Now, her hair was just hanging messily around her shoulders. Meanwhile, Little Dumpling was getting more worked up as she talked, even using her tiny paws to demonstrate the scene.
A moment later, a script was shoved into her hands.
“Alright, you’ve had your nap. Read this part for me—I want to see if you’ve memorized it.”
Suddenly, the three-year-old was pressed into a study session. She looked down at the script in her hands.
Wait, something didn’t feel right… What was she going to say just now?
Little Dumpling looked completely confused.
On the side, Liu Wu, who had witnessed the entire scene of Little Dumpling being tricked, was laughing so hard he was about to fall over.
