“Ah, I just saw someone claiming that Yu Mozhi was using the little kid to stir up hype. Yet within seconds, they got slapped in the face. Director Kong immediately spoke up. Anyway, I believe it. I hope little Yu Mianmian can break free from her past and grow up strong!”
“As if we don’t know what kind of person Director Kong is? Don’t worry, we movie fans have class! Looking forward to the film’s release!”
Everything had turned around so quickly. The speed wasn’t just surprising to Suiyue Liuguang (the gossip account), even Liu Wu, who had been fully prepared to counter the opponent’s retaliation, was left stunned.
The timing of it all was simply too perfect!
Every time someone tried to say something, an official source or a media personality would immediately come forward to refute it. And it just so happened that the rumors being refuted were exactly the ones the opposition was trying to push.
Originally, the other side might have had a chance to struggle a little longer, but each attempt ended with another slap to the face. Liu Wu felt that even the hired trolls had been beaten senseless.
Piece after piece of solid evidence was thrown out, and it always appeared as if someone had just remembered or casually brought it up. Most of them thought this whole incident was too ridiculous, too absurd to have blown up so much, so they couldn’t help but comment on it. None of these statements came from Yu Mozhi’s side, and the people involved didn’t have much of a connection with him. In the eyes of netizens, this made it all the more credible.
As a result, no matter how much the paid trolls struggled later on, or tried to steer the narrative, very few people were willing to believe them anymore. Even that once-reliable gossip account that had previously been spot-on with insider information ended up confidently releasing fake news this time. It got blasted by the crowd and ended up in a public spat with Suiyue Liuguang, exposing all their private chats.
Before Liu Wu’s side even needed to do anything further, the enemy had already started infighting like mad dogs biting each other.
“Dear me, Mo-ge, has your streak of bad luck finally passed?” Liu Wu clicked his tongue in amazement. “Now there’s nothing to fear. No matter what others say, almost no one will believe them. One series of moves, and you’ve got the other side tearing each other apart. Mo-ge, did you plan all this from the start?”
Yu Mozhi was holding his phone, replying to Director Kong. Upon hearing that, he let out a low snort, his tone unreadable. “If I had planned this from the start, I’d have thrown in the towel and left years ago. Why would I have kept slogging away at this job for so long?”
As he spoke, his gaze drifted to the side.
There, Yue Han had bought a pile of toys and was playing with the little one, keeping the child’s attention firmly fixed, not sparing Yu Mozhi a single glance.
Yu Mozhi’s lips curled in a subtle, silent smirk.
Yue Han, a new artist under Yu Mozhi’s studio, hadn’t landed any gigs yet and was quite free most of the time. For some reason, he had shown up at the studio today.
The little one had been going over scripts with him for several days and was already quite familiar with them. In a few days, they would officially join the film crew. Who knew what conditions awaited them there, or what the shooting intensity would be like? Although they wouldn’t be too harsh on a child, Yu Mozhi still wanted his little dumpling to relax a bit before then.
Liu Wu took all this in, the corners of his mouth lifting in a mocking smile.
Usually acting all indifferent, thinking he didn’t care, just because the little dumpling’s attention had always been on him. Now that someone was competing for that attention, how does it feel, huh? Annoyed, aren’t you?
Just then, Yu Mozhi stood up and walked over to the little dumpling, picking up the straw-topped milk bottle beside her.
The little one was holding a doll dressed in a pretty skirt. Hearing the movement, she instinctively looked up with a sweet smile, her face radiating affection. “Daddy?”
Yu Mozhi: … “The milk’s cold. I’ll go get you a fresh cup.”
Receiving Yu Mozhi’s concern, the little dumpling was utterly delighted. She stood up, waved her tiny paw at Yu Mozhi, signaling for him to bend down. When he did, she promptly planted a smacking kiss on his cheek. “Mianmian always says she’s Daddy’s little treasure!”
Yu Mozhi gave a light cough, said nothing, straightened up, and walked toward the kitchenette.
Meanwhile, Yue Han was holding up his phone, showing pictures of various new toys, his tone flattering and obviously coaxing. “Mianmian, Mianmian, look at this. Do you like it?”
The little one’s attention was immediately drawn away again.
Yu Mozhi had already reached the kitchen. With practiced ease, he poured out the cold milk, scooped out one and a half spoonfuls of milk powder, when his phone—placed to the side—lit up with a new message.
Liu Wu: Best Actor, you just moved both hands and feet together.
Are you really that happy? You closet show-off.
Yue Han successfully lured Mianmian’s attention with new toys at the studio.
Meanwhile, Mr. Yu, seemingly calm: Let me sneak a glance, just one more glance… Didn’t she say Daddy was her favorite?
