Chapter 28: The Cook
“Are you sure Mohan is cooking, and not his wife?” Wang Li still questioned with some doubt. After all, they had all tasted Mohan’s cooking, which was definitely at a master level. But he wasn’t so confident about his wife’s cooking skills.
Mu Bai slightly curled his lips, revealing a playful smile. “Mohan’s wife, she looks like the type who’s been pampered since childhood, someone who doesn’t touch a drop of water. Do you expect her to cook? Don’t dream, you’ll probably get raw food. Mohan probably wouldn’t let her lift a finger either.”
Mu Bai’s observation skills were quite sharp. From Mohan’s actions today, it was clear that he cared deeply for Luo Jiaojiao. From taking leave to clean the house to taking her out shopping, everything showed his care and love for her.
“This time, Mohan might have really fallen, otherwise, why wouldn’t seven days of leave be enough, and he needs to take another two days off? He used to be a workaholic, even if he was sick, he would still persevere on the training ground.”
After hearing this, Wang Li’s lips curled into a smile, but this smile wasn’t mocking. His understanding of Leng Mohan was profound, knowing he was emotionally detached. Even with himself and Mu Bai, it took seven or eight years to gain a foothold in Leng Mohan’s heart.
Leng Mohan, he was like a proud wolf, wandering alone in the vast world. Wang Li couldn’t imagine how such a man could easily fall for someone. It was simply a fairy tale.
Wang Li shook his head, a playful smile on his lips: “Impossible, how long have they known each other? Two days? Leng Mohan has fallen for that woman? It must be because she’s his wife, he’s just taking extra care of her out of responsibility.”
“Unless he’s truly superficial, only caring about her beauty.” Wang Li looked at Mu Bai firmly, his tone certain.
“But Mohan has seen beautiful women confessing their love before, he’s used to it. If he were that superficial, he would have been with Zhou Wenwen a long time ago, maybe they’d even have children by now.” Wang Li tried to reassure Mu Bai, Leng Mohan couldn’t be easily captivated by a woman.
But Mu Bai was somewhat stubborn, “But is Luo Jiaojiao’s beauty unmatched by ten Zhou Wenwens? Do you dare deny her attractiveness?”
Mu Bai’s eyes were deep, he said slowly, “A life-saving grace might make him marry her, but whether he can truly cherish her is another matter. His heart might be colder than you imagine.”
After hearing this, Wang Li fell silent. He had seen countless beauties, domestic and foreign, each with their unique charm, but as Mu Bai said, none could compare to Luo Jiaojiao’s beauty.
“What you say makes sense,” Wang Li nodded lightly, a hint of agreement flashing in his eyes. He knew that beautiful women were always easily favored, especially by the opposite sex.
“How could it be impossible? This is a fait accompli. Judging from her appearance alone, Leng Mohan can’t resist Luo Jiaojiao’s charm. And if you look closely at her face, there’s an inner gentleness that makes people unconsciously want to approach her. Although Mohan might be attracted to Luo Jiaojiao’s beauty now, I’m sure he’ll genuinely fall for her soon,” Mu Bai said confidently.
To be honest, if Leng Mohan didn’t even like such a stunning beauty as Luo Jiaojiao, he might never find someone who could make his heart flutter in his lifetime.
Wang Li recalled seeing Luo Jiaojiao today. She stood in the sunlight, smiling brightly, with red lips and white teeth, her eyes free of any gloom. No wonder she could captivate Leng Mohan.
Luo Jiaojiao, this name was like a pure painting, inspiring longing. She was like the morning sun, shining through the mist, bright and warm.
Her existence seemed to be the purest thing in the world, making people involuntarily feel fond of her. It’s not hard to understand why Leng Mohan, that extraordinary and aloof man, developed feelings for her.
“Heh, you’re right,” Wang Li’s voice broke my reverie, “I’ve never seen such a radiant woman. She’s like the brightest star in the sky, dazzling. I suspect that the reason Mohan disdains those women is that their beauty doesn’t meet his standards. After all, Mohan’s face is truly something that makes women feel inferior. Any woman standing beside him would seem out of place.”
Yes, not to mention anything else, Luo Jiaojiao and Leng Mohan’s appearances are undoubtedly a perfect match.
“If I met such a charming and unmarried woman, I would definitely pursue her wholeheartedly and spoil her like a princess,” Wang Li blurted out involuntarily.
“Quick, quick, come over!” Mu Bai caught sight of Leng Mohan walking over with the food, and hurriedly urged, no longer paying attention to Wang Li’s words.
Hearing this, Wang Li’s eyes sparkled, and he followed Mu Bai in a trot. Leng Mohan looked at the two figures rushing towards him, and his mouth twitched involuntarily.
“Mohan, let’s order some food, our mouths are tasteless,” Wang Li grabbed Leng Mohan’s hand, saying anxiously.
“I noticed, there are quite a few meat dishes tonight, three in total,” Leng Mohan picked up his lunch box, glanced at their lunch boxes, and commented lightly. Although the canteen food wasn’t oily, the balance of meat and vegetables was good, making it hard to fault.
“Mohan, I want to try something savory,” Leng Mohan’s words surprised Mu Bai, he didn’t expect the other party to be so observant even when not picking dishes.
“However, you already had lunch at the state-run restaurant, wouldn’t eating the same dishes again at night be too greasy?” Mu Bai continued, “Why don’t we switch? My fish is steamed, specially selected from the belly, the texture must be delicious. You can choose, but think about your wife, she might want something light.”
“Let’s change our food, I haven’t tried this,” Mu Bai glanced at the fish in his lunch box and said to Leng Mohan.
Leng Mohan glanced at Mu Bai’s lunch box, the fish inside was indeed tempting. Thinking that Luo Jiaojiao preferred light-flavored food, he nodded and agreed to exchange.
“And me, Mohan, look at what you want to eat, just take it, and give me some of yours too,” Wang Li looked at Leng Mohan expectantly.
Leng Mohan looked at the fatty pork in Wang Li’s bowl, and his mouth twitched involuntarily.
“Keep yours, so much fatty meat,” Leng Mohan picked up a lunch box with less food and handed it to them.
“Wash the lunch boxes after you finish and return them to me,” Leng Mohan said and went back.
