The Lucky Star Fake Eldest Daughter of the 1970s: Marrying a Military Officer and Being Pampered Chapter 43

Chapter 43: Impatience

He realized he might have been too impatient.

Their intimacy needed time to cultivate. A wedding night was inappropriate in this environment.

Furthermore, the soundproofing wasn’t good. If anything happened, it would disturb others.

He stood up, walked to her side, and softly said, “Don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you. Tonight, let’s just chat, okay?”

She looked up at him, surprise flashing in her eyes. Quickly, she nodded and whispered, “Okay.”

“Luo Jiaojiao, I’ve already spoken. If you disagree, I won’t force you. But my time is limited, and you know I have my needs—it’s natural. You don’t need to be afraid or uneasy. We’re legally married, unless you want a marriage in name only, we should respect each other’s needs and wishes.”

Luo Jiaojiao lay in bed, covered by a thick blanket. Despite the warm room, a thin blush covered her face. Her eyes were full of confusion and bewilderment. Looking at Leng Mohan standing by the bed, an indescribable fear welled up in her heart.

Leng Mohan’s tall figure seemed even colder in the dim light. His gaze, like a knife, pierced deeply into Luo Jiaojiao’s heart.

He spoke slowly, his voice low and powerful: “Luo Jiaojiao, I don’t intend to have a marriage in name only. Since you married me, in life you are mine, and in death you are mine. Similarly, I will do my best to satisfy your needs, but likewise, you cannot refuse me when I need you. Leng Mohan never makes a losing deal.”

Luo Jiaojiao’s heart trembled. She bit her lower lip, trying to hide her inner turmoil.

She knew she had no way out. Leng Mohan was a strong and domineering man, and no one could change his decisions. She could only silently endure everything, though her heart was filled with anxiety.

Leng Mohan saw Luo Jiaojiao’s reaction and a hint of satisfaction flashed in his eyes. He leaned down, gently lifting her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze. His voice became even lower: “Or do you want a divorce?”

Luo Jiaojiao’s heart tightened. She felt her breathing become difficult. She knew that divorce was absolutely impossible for her. After a divorce, where would she go? Now she could only rely on Leng Mohan for a living. She could only try to remain calm and look for a hint of pity in Leng Mohan’s eyes.

However, Leng Mohan’s eyes only showed coldness and firmness. He released her chin and turned to leave the room.

Luo Jiaojiao’s heart pounded like thunder. Her gaze was fixed on Leng Mohan. He stood in front of the wardrobe, selecting clothes and putting them on one by one. Each movement was so calm, yet it stirred up huge waves in Luo Jiaojiao’s heart.

She knew Leng Mohan never lacked pursuers. Those girls might not be as stunning as her, but they each had their own unique features. More importantly, their family backgrounds were far superior to hers—an orphan of unknown parentage. Zhou Wenwen was one of them, and her existence was like a thorn, deeply embedded in Luo Jiaojiao’s heart.

Luo Jiaojiao didn’t want to lose Leng Mohan; he was her only support in this world. She couldn’t let him leave, absolutely not. This thought echoed in her mind like a spell, making her unable to let go.

The moment Leng Mohan fastened his belt, Luo Jiaojiao snapped back to reality. Seeing his hand about to touch the doorknob, panic surged up in her heart like a tide. She couldn’t let him leave like this; she had to do something.

So, she hurriedly jumped out of bed, her bare, tender feet padding quickly across the floor. She ran to him and hugged him tightly from behind. Her heartbeat pounded against his back, as if trying to convey her determination through his body.

“You can’t leave! I was wrong, I shouldn’t have avoided you, refused you.” Luo Jiaojiao’s voice trembled slightly but was filled with firmness. She hugged him tightly, as if wanting to convey all her strength to him, letting him understand her feelings.

Leng Mohan was startled by her actions, but he didn’t push her away. He felt her heartbeat and body temperature, and a complex emotion surged in his heart. He knew he wouldn’t leave just like that; he had only been testing her, testing whether she knew her current situation, that she could only rely on him.

Leng Mohan was very satisfied with the result; she still knew how to keep him.

He turned around, looked at Luo Jiaojiao’s eyes, full of expectation and determination, and took a deep breath. Then, he gently held her hand and said softly, “Aren’t you uncomfortable? I’ll spend the night at my comrade’s place.”

Hearing this, a warm current surged through Luo Jiaojiao’s heart. She knew she had finally kept him, kept her only support in this world. She held his hand tightly, as if wanting to convey all her strength to him, letting him understand her feelings.

Luo Jiaojiao’s voice echoed in the silent room, her eyes full of confusion and anxiety. She tried to explain, to make Leng Mohan understand her feelings.

“I’m just…uncomfortable and scared,” she whispered, as if afraid that a louder voice would break the fragile silence. Her fingers unconsciously intertwined, showing her inner tension and anxiety.

“I really want to have a good life with you,” her tone became firmer, as if emphasizing her seriousness and persistence in this relationship. She looked directly at Leng Mohan, hoping he could see her sincerity.

Leng Mohan’s expression remained cold, but his eyes revealed a hint of doubt. He seemed to be trying to understand Luo Jiaojiao’s words, trying to explore her true thoughts.

Luo Jiaojiao continued, “You said you would wait two years before having a child. I thought you would wait two years before…before we…consummated our marriage. But I’ve never been with a man before, so I was scared, so I avoided you.” Her voice grew smaller, as if ashamed of her timidity.

She looked up at Leng Mohan, tears shimmering in her eyes: “And I was worried I might touch you in places I shouldn’t, so I used two blankets. I’m a restless sleeper, and I was worried I might touch you somewhere I shouldn’t.” Her voice trembled slightly, as if afraid of losing him.

Listening to Luo Jiaojiao’s explanation, the doubts in Leng Mohan’s heart slowly dissipated. Looking at the tears in her eyes, the hardness in his heart began to soften. He understood her anxiety and worries, and he felt her cherishing and persistence in this relationship.

He reached out, gently held Luo Jiaojiao’s hand, and his voice softened: “Jiaojiao, don’t be afraid. I’ll wait for you, wait until you’re ready. Let’s have a good life together.”
