Chapter 46: The House

After enjoying breakfast, Luo Jiaojiao followed Leng Mohan and began busily tidying up the house that hadn’t been lived in for a long time. This time, Leng Mohan prepared many cleaning tools, while Luo Jiaojiao held a large blank notebook and a pen, quietly following behind him.

Leng Mohan carefully wiped the table in the front yard, removing the dust and traces left by time, then motioned for Luo Jiaojiao to sit down and began drawing a layout on the table in the front yard. He then turned and went into the house, starting the heavy cleaning work.

Luo Jiaojiao knew that the inside of this house must be filled with thick dust. After all, it had been unoccupied for a long time. But Leng Mohan seemed unconcerned; wearing a mask, he focused on cleaning every corner, as if to sweep away all the dust and past memories.

Luo Jiaojiao sat at the table, expectation and enthusiasm shining in her eyes, her pen dancing on the notebook, sketching her initial ideas for the house renovation.

She knew that this seemingly old house actually hid endless potential and charm. With some clever renovation, it could be revitalized, in no way inferior to those brand-new and expensive high-rise buildings.

Every brick, every tile, seemed to tell her their story, waiting to be discovered and renewed.

Her mind was filled with various ideas and creativity. She imagined how beautiful and comfortable the transformed house would be.

Every corner, every space, she wanted to decorate carefully, filling them with warmth and happiness.

This was her home, her world, a gift from Leng Mohan. She would use her own way to make this place unique, filled with her and Leng Mohan’s love.

The midday sun spilled into every corner of the military camp, the golden light dancing on Leng Mohan’s resolute face, giving him a sacred and inviolable aura.

As always, he held Luo Jiaojiao’s hand, walking steadily towards his single dormitory.

Luo Jiaojiao, a woman whose beauty was breathtaking, was like a blooming flower, nestled beside him. Her graceful figure and shy expression were enough to make any man fall for her. However, Leng Mohan seemed oblivious to her beauty; his eyes held only deep care and affection.

He didn’t want those rough soldiers to see Luo Jiaojiao’s vulnerable appearance. She was like a treasure belonging only to him, for him alone to appreciate.

His wife’s exquisite face and graceful figure were to be seen only by him.

They entered the dormitory. Leng Mohan gently placed Luo Jiaojiao on the bed, then picked up the lunchbox and strode towards the canteen. His steps were firm and powerful, as if fighting for his love and protection.

He knew that the world was full of danger and challenges, but he would use his own strength to protect every inch of Luo Jiaojiao’s skin, allowing her to be safe under his protection.

When Leng Mohan returned to the dormitory with a full lunchbox, Luo Jiaojiao was already sitting on the bed, smiling and waiting for him. Their eyes met, filled with deep affection and understanding.

Leng Mohan put the food on the table, carefully arranged the dishes for Luo Jiaojiao, then sat by the bed, watching her eat contentedly.

They had dinner in the house they had applied for, not returning to the single dormitory. They ate in the yard, which Leng Mohan had carefully cleaned. The small table was perfect for the two of them.

Soon after they finished eating, Leng Mohan said, “The helpers will be here soon.” Then, the door was gently pushed open, and a group of people walked in.

Luo Jiaojiao looked up, and the figures of Mu Bai and Wang Li appeared at the doorway. They were members of Leng Mohan’s team. Although Mu Bai and Wang Li weren’t seeing Luo Jiaojiao for the first time, they had to admit that her appearance was exceptionally outstanding, a beauty that was unforgettable. Her skin was as white as snow, her face like jade carving, exuding a cold aura.

Her eyes were bright and sharp, like stars across the night sky, sparkling with intelligence. Her nose was straight, her lips slightly upturned, revealing a subtle smile, as if she was used to being the center of attention.

As for the other soldiers, they were dumbfounded, staring at Luo Jiaojiao.

Leng Mohan naturally saw everyone glued to Luo Jiaojiao. He frowned slightly, blocking their view, and glanced at Luo Jiaojiao behind him.

Luo Jiaojiao understood Leng Mohan’s gaze. She smiled slightly and nodded.

Leng Mohan was relieved to see she wasn’t displeased. He glared at the helpers, who looked like they’d never seen the world before.

Turning his head, he said to the soldiers, “Alright, stop staring. Come and help clean up.” The soldiers finally came to their senses and hurried over to help.

Mu Bai, Wang Li, and ten soldiers came in. They were young and capable, moving quickly and orderly. Luo Jiaojiao couldn’t help but admire their high level of internal affairs. No wonder Leng Mohan said not to worry; these soldiers’ performance was indeed reassuring.

However, Luo Jiaojiao also noticed that they would occasionally look at her while cleaning. This gaze made her feel uncomfortable, so she slowly moved in front of Leng Mohan and softly said, “Leng Da Ge, I’ll go take a look at the backyard.” She hoped to avoid their gaze and find a relatively quiet place.

Leng Mohan understood Luo Jiaojiao’s feelings. He nodded gently and said, “Okay, go ahead. If you need anything, call me anytime.” His concern for Luo Jiaojiao was evident, warming her heart.

Luo Jiaojiao looked at Leng Mohan gratefully, then turned and walked towards the backyard. She hoped to find some peace and quiet in the backyard, away from those curious eyes.

Luo Jiaojiao came to the backyard of the house. It wasn’t big, only two meters wide. Standing in the backyard, she looked out; the back mountain was lush with green trees, like a beautiful painting, refreshing and pleasing to the eye. She took a deep breath, feeling the fresh air, trying to relax.

In a corner of the backyard, Luo Jiaojiao discovered a hole. The hole was neither too big nor too small, just big enough for a small dog to enter and exit.

She stared at the hole for a while, curiously. Suddenly, a small white fluffy ball popped out from the hole, followed by several others. Luo Jiaojiao’s eyes widened. What were they? Rabbits?

The fluffy balls looked very cute. Their bodies were fluffy, like little cotton balls. Their ears were long and erect, as if listening to something.

Luo Jiaojiao approached the hole and carefully observed these fluffy balls. Their eyes were red, like two rubies, sparkling. Luo Jiaojiao couldn’t help but reach out and gently touch the ear of one of the fluffy balls. The fluffy ball’s ear was very soft, feeling like touching cotton.

The fluffy balls weren’t afraid at all. They ran around Luo Jiaojiao, as if playing with her. Luo Jiaojiao was also infected by their cuteness. She forgot her worries and played with the fluffy balls in the backyard.
