Su Yaya took out the newly bought green pepper from the refrigerator and removed the seeds. She then washed it and chopped it to shreds, she also took out the lean meat she bought today and washed it, chopping it to shreds as well. Afterward, she turned on high heat, poured on a little oil, and waited for it to heat up, she then put the ginger and garlic into it and stirred it until the fragrant came out before adding the lean mean and stirring it together, and waited until the meat was cooked before adding the shredded green pepper and stir it again for one to two minutes. She also added light soy sauce, chicken-flavored powder, and other seasonings. And a delicious plate of shredded pork with green pepper was ready.

When Shen Xiuqi arrived home and changed his shoes, the very first thing he noticed was the magazine on the table. The cover was him wearing a gray suit, sitting on the black leather sofa, and talking with the host, looking like a typical business elite.

This was the interview last week for the finance magazine. Every month, Shen Xiuqi would accept one or two interviews, and the questions were the same that he could even memorize them. 

However, he was surprised that Su Yaya would buy a magazine that featured him and couldn’t help but feel delighted.

Shen Xiuqi recalled how obedient she had been and how she tried to please him every day, probably because she loved him.

He subconsciously smiled at this thought. Not everyone was as good as him. 

Shen Xiuqi shifted his gaze to the side where two boxes of candies caught his eye. It wasn’t from a famous brand but it looked appealing to him. As his habit, he didn’t like to eat sweets so he didn’t know what was wrong with him today that he opened the box and placed a candy in his mouth. The smell and sweetness were just right as the flavor stayed in his mouth and he thought it was delicious. 

As Su Yaya brought the corn porridge and cucumber salad out from the kitchen, she noticed Shen Xiuqi standing by the table and eating his second candy.

“You’re back.”

Shen Xiuqi didn’t expect that he would be caught eating candy. He murmured inwardly and pretended to act proper on the surface. The man expressionlessly said, “Yes, I just got off the plane so I’m feeling a bit hungry.”

Su Yaya guessed that he ate the candies out of hunger because he hadn’t eaten anything earlier. She nodded in understanding.

“If you’re hungry, come and eat. I made some corn porridge and a cucumber salad as well as stir-fried pork with green pepper,” she said. “I think it should taste pretty good.”

The white and yellow corn porridge, along with the fresh, green cucumber salad aroused Shen Xiuqi’s appetite, feeling like he was about to drool.

In Shen Xiuqi’s impression, Su Yaya had never cooked before so in the past when she said she wanted to cook, he just thought she was talking casually. He even doubted whether the food she cooked was edible but looking at the corn porridge and cucumber salad on the table, it looked pretty good. He just doesn’t know how they taste but he decided to give it a try.
