The two cuddled for a while, with Su Yaya melting into Shen Xiuqi’s arms like a puddle. She murmured softly, “I’m hungry.”
Shen Xiuqi kissed her lips, a smile curling at the corners of his mouth. “I’m hungry too.”
Su Yaya lightly pounded his chest with her fists, swinging her slender legs back and forth as she acted cute. “I’m being serious.”
Shen Xiuqi chuckled and picked up his phone from beside him. “I’ll call someone to send us some food.”
“Okay.” Su Yaya smiled sweetly and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.
But then, just as he was about to dial, Shen Xiuqi paused and looked at her with a meaningful expression. “Actually, I’d really like to eat something you cook.”
Su Yaya replied with a grin. “Oh? So, you’re craving vinegar?”
The audacity! She actually dared to tease him?
Shen Xiuqi pinched her cheeks gently. “No, I want something sweet!”
She scoffed inwardly. As if she’d believe that.
Did he think she hadn’t noticed his gloomy face earlier? It was as dark as the bottom of a pot.
In the past, she thought he was just trying to act cool. Now, she saw him for what he was—childish, like a little kid!
“Well, I want to eat something sweet too!” Su Yaya chimed, looking up at him with bright, blinking eyes, as if to say she’d follow his lead no matter what.
He really didn’t know what to do with her.
Shen Xiuqi ruffled her hair, gazing at her with indulgent affection. “Alright.”
Su Yaya grinned happily. She was beginning to think she’d figured Shen Xiuqi out. As long as she put in the effort to soothe him and added a touch of charm, she could easily make him feel better. It wasn’t hard at all.
Shen Xiuqi glanced at Su Yaya, who was chuckling to herself. Why did she always laugh so easily? With a helpless sigh, he called to order food.
By the time dinner arrived, nearly an hour had passed. After they ate, Su Yaya and Shen Xiuqi relaxed on the sofa, watching an entertainment show for a while, before eventually heading to the room to wash up and go to bed.
The next morning, while Su Yaya was still sound asleep, Shen Xiuqi nudged her awake. He gently pinched her sleepy cheeks and murmured, “Come on, wake up. I’m taking you somewhere fun.”
Drowsily, Su Yaya asked, “Where are we going?”
Shen Xiuqi patted her cheek and smiled. “Hurry and get washed up and dressed. You’ll see when we get there.”
Su Yaya blinked in surprise, then nodded and got out of bed to get ready.
After they’d been driving for a while, Su Yaya noticed the car heading toward the outskirts. Realizing this, she asked, “Are we going out of town?”
Shen Xiuqi gently patted her head. “We’re going to Yunhu Villa.”
Yunhu Villa was the largest vacation villa near the capital, known for its beautiful scenery—a perfect getaway spot.
Su Yaya reached over to hold Shen Xiuqi’s arm, resting her chin on his shoulder. Looking up, she said, “I’ve never been there before, but I’ve heard people say it’s a lot of fun.”
Shen Xiuqi replied calmly, “You can see for yourself once we’re there.”
He had been there many times before and hadn’t found it particularly exciting. But seeing how thrilled Su Yaya was, he decided not to say anything. He wanted her to enjoy it for herself.
The car soon arrived at Yunhu Villa. Since Shen Xiuqi had arranged things in advance, the manager came out to greet them and assured him that everything was prepared for their stay.
Su Yaya wanted to take a walk around the villa grounds, and Shen Xiuqi offered to go with her. They strolled down a charming corridor that led to the back of the villa, where a vast lake came into view. The deep lake was stocked with fish, and there were fishing tools along the shore.
“Wow, we can even fish here!” Su Yaya couldn’t resist the urge to try it out. She ran over, grabbed a fishing rod, and called to Shen Xiuqi, “Let’s fish!”
Shen Xiuqi didn’t refuse. He walked over, and Su Yaya quickly handed him a rod. “Here, take this one, and I’ll use this one.”
After choosing their rods, Su Yaya found a bucket for the fish, placed some fish food in it, and looked around for a good spot. She picked an area a bit diagonally across from him and told Shen Xiuqi she’d be fishing there. With her rod, bucket, and a small camping chair in hand, she hurried over to her spot.
Shen Xiuqi watched her settle in. She placed the fishing rod down, set the bucket beside her, unfolded her chair, and hooked the fish food onto the line, getting ready to “fish.”
As if she could actually catch anything like that!
After seeing her actions, Shen Xiuqi silently commented in his heart.
“Why aren’t you coming over to fish?” she called out when she saw Shen Xiuqi still standing where he was.
Bystanders couldn’t help but notice the suited Shen Xiuqi holding a fishing rod. The sight was a bit odd, and he felt a bit self-conscious under their gazes. Reluctantly, he picked up the rod and walked over—though not directly next to Su Yaya, so her antics wouldn’t distract him.
