Shen Xiuqi chose a spot far from Su Yaya, positioning himself directly across the lake from her.
He calmly made his preparations, then sat silently waiting for the fish to take the bait.
Suddenly, Su Yaya’s excited voice rang out. “Oh my god! I got it! I got it!”
Her loud shout echoed across the entire lake. Shen Xiuqi watched as she screamed and frantically pulled on her fishing line. She was so anxious and flustered that he worried she might accidentally fall into the water. He considered walking over to help her, but before he could, she managed to pull the fish out.
Su Yaya carefully removed the fish from the hook and compared it to her hand. It was about half the length of her palm. Smiling brightly, she cupped the fish in her hands and proudly called out to Shen Xiuqi, “President Shen, look! I caught a big fish!”
Shen Xiuqi resisted the urge to cover his face. He shouldn’t have brought her here. Turning his back on her, he pretended not to know her and silently continued fishing.
Oblivious to his reaction, Su Yaya was overjoyed. She happily placed the fish into her bucket and eagerly prepared to catch another.
Shen Xiuqi assumed she would settle down now.
But less than ten minutes later, Su Yaya’s cheers echoed again. “Ahhh, I got another fish!”
Shen Xiuqi glanced at his own unmoving fishing float. These fish clearly weren’t giving him any respect. He couldn’t help but feel a little annoyed!
Su Yaya, who was on the other side of the lake, placed her second fish in the bucket. Suddenly, she realized Shen Xiuqi hadn’t said anything. Standing up, she called out, “President Shen, did you catch any fish?”
Shen Xiuqi’s face darkened. He didn’t want to answer her.
Getting no response, Su Yaya thought he hadn’t heard her. She asked again, “President Shen, did you catch any fish?”
Her repeated questioning annoyed him. He felt a surge of irritation.
“No,” Shen Xiuqi replied coldly.
“Hahaha!” Su Yaya laughed proudly. “I’ve caught two. You have to try harder!”
Shen Xiuqi’s expression turned even gloomier. He snapped back, “Just wait.”
Su Yaya chuckled, her eyes curving into crescent shapes. She was more than happy to wait and see.
What followed was a strange scene by the lake.
On Su Yaya’s side, cheers erupted every so often. She kept catching fish. “Another one! Wow, it’s huge! Hahaha!”
On Shen Xiuqi’s side, however, it was eerily quiet. From start to finish, he hadn’t caught a single fish.
Damn. This stupid place must be cursed!
When Su Yaya caught yet another fish, Shen Xiuqi threw his fishing rod aside in frustration. Not catching a single fish was bad enough, but compared to Su Yaya’s growing collection, it was humiliating. Could he just quit now? Tomorrow, he’d have someone buy this ridiculous villa. He refused to believe in any so-called curse!
“President Shen, President Shen, wait for me!” Su Yaya called out as she saw him abandon his rod. Realizing he must be angry about his lack of success, she quickly put down her own rod and ran after him. She reached out to grab his arm, but he dodged her touch. Undeterred, she tried again, and this time, Shen Xiuqi didn’t avoid her. He allowed her to hold onto him.
Sigh. This man gets upset over not catching a fish. He’s acting like a child!
Su Yaya silently roasted him in her heart. Smiling, she clung to his arm and asked, “President Shen, where are we going to play next?”
“Nowhere,” Shen Xiuqi replied curtly.
He wasn’t in the mood to play anymore. Losing so badly to someone he considered a beginner was unbearable. Not catching a single fish was a blow to his pride.
Su Yaya glanced at Shen Xiuqi, noticing his sulky expression. Was he seriously upset about losing to her? Did he think it was embarrassing?
Of course, he did. Su Yaya had come to understand Shen Xiuqi quite well.
“Why don’t we play golf?” Su Yaya suggested. It was a sport for the wealthy, and Shen Xiuqi excelled at it. Since she had never played before, she thought it might cheer him up.
Shen Xiuqi glanced at her, but before he could respond, she tugged on his shoulder eagerly. “Let’s go, let’s go! I’ve never played before. You can teach me!”
With Su Yaya acting cute and trying to please him, Shen Xiuqi decided he could use the opportunity to redeem himself. He had lost miserably at fishing, but golf was his expertise. It was his chance to show Su Yaya what he was truly capable of.
Reluctantly—though not without a hint of pride—Shen Xiuqi agreed to take her to the golf course after her persistent begging.
Shen Xiuqi changed into casual sportswear, while Su Yaya swapped her dress for a T-shirt and a sporty skirt. Her outfit revealed her long, smooth legs, complemented by white sneakers and a sunhat. She looked fresh, vibrant, and full of youthful energy.
“Am I beautiful?” Su Yaya asked, running over to him and twirling in a circle. The hem of her skirt lifted slightly, adding to her charm. She looked both pure and adorable.
Shen Xiuqi’s gaze lingered briefly on her legs before he nodded and said, “Beautiful.”
Su Yaya immediately beamed. “President Shen, you have great taste!”
Trying to seduce him?
Uniform temptation?
He could save that for home!
Su Yaya noticed his intense and fiery gaze. Quickly dismissing her playful thoughts, she hurriedly said, “President Shen, teach me how to play!”
Shen Xiuqi cleared his throat and looked away, regaining his composure. “Come here, and I’ll teach you.”
