15. Mei Mei, Stop Watching, Go to Bed
Qin Zhaoyi didn’t react until she returned to the room. Why did she listen to Luo Yue?
However, it seemed like she had been doing this ever since she met her.
Luo Yue had a kind of magical charm about her, especially when she smiled gently at people. She was warm, peaceful, and beautiful. There was no need for adjectives; she embodied them just by standing there.
Fortunately, Luo Yue didn’t have any malicious intentions; otherwise, Qin Zhaoyi wouldn’t even know how she died, Qin Zhaoyi thought.
Under the night sky that enveloped this gentle island, in the silence of the night, Luo Yue crouched on the ground and slowly wiped away the bloodstains with wet wipes. She didn’t feel upset that a stranger had broken into her house and made a mess; she remained patient throughout.
Qin Zhaoyi stood at the door, watching until Luo Yue finished cleaning and left, also closing the door behind her. Before closing the door, she smiled at Qin Zhaoyi and said, “Little sister, stop looking and go to sleep.”
Qin Zhaoyi finally came to her senses, but in retrospect, she realized that Luo Yue had taken advantage of her.
Really, who was her little sister?
Qin Zhaoyi felt awkward with this sudden change in address. She raised an eyebrow and said, “I already told you I don’t have a sister.”
Unfortunately, Luo Yue didn’t hear her.
Unable to see Luo Yue’s busy figure from the room’s doorway, Qin Zhaoyi returned to her room and stood by the window, gazing outside. Moonlight bathed Luo Yue, casting a silvery veil over her, making her appear ethereal. Especially as she patiently dealt with the bloodstains on the floor, a sight that even Qin Zhaoyi herself found uncomfortable to witness. Yet, Luo Yue showed no signs of disgust.
In that moment, just by looking at her back, Qin Zhaoyi felt like her heart was being filled with something.
She didn’t know how to describe her current feelings or who to share this somewhat overwhelming sentiment with.
Just then, her phone vibrated.
Zhong Ling: [Yi Jie? Where did you go? Tell me, what exactly does it feel like?]
Since Qin Zhaoyi hadn’t responded for a while, Zhong Ling became anxious and sent several messages.
Zhong Ling: [Is it that tingling sensation that runs through your whole body, making you want to bury yourself in her embrace?]
Zhong Ling: [Or is it the feeling of wanting to take this person to bed and experience a profound harmony of life together?]
Zhong Ling: [Or maybe it’s the desire to kiss her again and again until you’re exhausted, never wanting her to leave?]
…
Zhong Ling’s messages occupied Qin Zhaoyi’s entire screen. After staring at them for a while, Qin Zhaoyi finally replied with a few words: [What is ‘profound harmony of life’?]
Zhong Ling: [?]
Zhong Ling: [??]
Remorseful Zhong Ling: [I’m sorry, as your good friend, I’ve failed.]
Qin Zhaoyi: [? What nonsense are you talking about?]
Zhong Ling: [I should educate you about the basics of ‘sexy.’]
Qin Zhaoyi: [..Get lost ah]
Whenever Zhong Ling said something like this, it meant she was about to say something improper.
Zhong Ling: [Add me back on WeChat, and I’ll send you something nice.]
Qin Zhaoyi: [Is it another batch of adult content?]
Zhong Ling: [It’s not that kind of content, but it is that kind.]
Qin Zhaoyi: [Are you playing word games with me here?]
Zhong Ling: [Trust me, I won’t harm you.]
Qin Zhaoyi: […]
Qin Zhaoyi’s peripheral vision unintentionally fell on Luo Yue again, who looked too beautiful. Her heart skipped a beat.
This feeling was too unfamiliar.
It was as if the entire courtyard lit up when she saw Luo Yue, even in the midst of a dull world.
Driven by curiosity, Qin Zhaoyi hesitated but eventually added Zhong Ling back on WeChat.
Zhong Ling then sent a message with a file link.
This time, it wasn’t too large, just 3 gigabytes.
Once, Zhong Ling had mentioned wanting to educate her about love and had sent her a stash of romantic movies and classic idol dramas, almost 2 terabytes of them, which almost made Qin Zhaoyi throw up. Their tastes were clearly different.
This time, fearing that Zhong Ling was playing another trick on her, Qin Zhaoyi threatened her before checking the file on the link: “If it’s the same kind of content again, you’ll stay on my blacklist!”
Zhong Ling: [How could it be?]
Zhong Ling: [I’m just educating you about the ‘profound harmony of life.’]
As soon as she saw the tilde, Qin Zhaoyi had a bad feeling about it.
However, after saving the files, she found two folders.
One was titled “Men and Women,” and the other was “Beautiful Stickers.”
Zhong Ling was such a… double-standard person.
Qin Zhaoyi cursed silently, but her hand moved faster than her brain, and she clicked on the second folder.
It didn’t contain anything special—just twenty videos, each a few hundred megabytes in size, named sequentially from 1 to 20.
This organization was very Zhong Ling.
As Qin Zhaoyi contemplated which one to watch first, Zhong Ling curiously asked, [Yi Jie, use your writer’s thinking to describe what this feels like.
Qin Zhaoyi: […]
“Qin Zhaoyi.” Luo Yue, who had finished cleaning the mess on the floor, suddenly stood up and called her name.
Many people had called Qin Zhaoyi by her full name, and she had always responded mechanically.
But when Luo Yue called her name, it was different.
When Luo Yue called her name, the ending sound would be slightly drawn out, with a touch of Southern charm, yet it didn’t sound cloying. Qin Zhaoyi was momentarily stunned and took a moment to respond, “Huh?”
Luo Yue waved her hand at her and said, “Don’t watch anymore, go to sleep.”
Qin Zhaoyi bit her lip and subconsciously said, “You haven’t poured me a glass of water yet.”
Luo Yue was also taken aback but then smiled and raised the corner of her mouth, “Sure, I’ll be right back.”
Qin Zhaoyi leaned on the windowsill with one hand, feeling the cool breeze. She breathed out a sigh of relief.
Just hearing Luo Yue call her name moments ago made her heart almost skip a beat.
Meanwhile, Zhong Ling was still pestering her: [Sicily?]
Qin Zhaoyi: […]
Qin Zhaoyi replied almost without thinking: “It’s like when she looks at me, all the starlight pierces through my heart.”
