Chapter 28: Power Maxed Out!
Day 128: Monsters gathered at the edge of the Contaminated Zone, itching to advance, and some people feared your Safe Zone was no longer safe, so they fled to other Safe Zones.
Day 129: News arrived that another Safe Zone had been overrun by monsters; because the casualties there were catastrophic, panic spread through your own Safe Zone as well, more people escaped, and you ignored it and sat tight.
Day 130: The Awakeners under your command chose to take the initiative, cleared the monsters along the Contaminated Zone perimeter, and the results looked promising, so many who stayed behind seemed relieved.
Day 131: Monsters converged in the Contaminated Zone again, showing that yesterday’s sweep had been useless; quite a few people tried to leave with supplies, but you kept the supplies and allowed the people to go.
Day 132: Pollution overflowed from the Contaminated Zone, yet you stood alone at the pass and slew every monster from the Contaminated Zone; the single battle stunned everyone, and you were hailed as the strongest kotodama arts user.
…
A single person blocked the overflow from the Contaminated Zone.
Nice!
Very nice!
After maintaining a calm expression for a long time, Su Ze finally smiled.
The countless previous simulations had already shown him how grave the threat of a Contaminated Zone overflow could be.
Even gathering a large number of Tier-3 Awakeners would not easily stop such an overflow.
Visible monsters were still manageable because modern weapons could help with defense.
The real fear lay in the invisible threats.
Such as unknown viruses and the like.
Still, invisible threats were not completely without countermeasures.
Besides modern technology, certain Awakeners’ kotodama arts might offer partial protection.
They were like disinfectants, able to eliminate or block unseen dangers.
Yet kotodama arts varied in strength.
They even correlated with the energy an Awakener possessed.
Therefore…
No one could protect an entire Safe Zone by strength alone.
That was probably why the simulation text called him the strongest kotodama arts user.
His combat power was indeed astounding, crushing every other Awakener at this stage.
Day 165: Heavy fog.
Day 166: The Contaminated Zones changed, several threats upgraded sharply, and you began studying the recipe to advance to a Tier-4 Awakener.
…
Day 190: A Chosen One appeared in the SC-2 Safe Zone; the authorities invited you to that Safe Zone to help hunt the Chosen One.
Day 191: You met the official Awakener squad, exchanged intelligence on the Chosen One, learned the Chosen One’s level of Strength, and immediately drafted a plan to kill them.
Day 192: You acted alone, ventured deep into the Contaminated Zone surrounding SC-2, located the Chosen One… a beautiful woman… fought her, and defeated her, but you did not kill her immediately and decided to study her instead.
Day 193: Intimidated by your might, the Chosen One chose to cooperate with you.
Day 194: The Chosen One entered Avalon, enjoyed its wonders, and then had relations with you.
Day 195: The Chosen One died, the SC-2 Safe Zone fell, and it turned into a Contaminated Zone.
Chosen One…
A Chosen One only appeared after the third bout of heavy fog, in the Tier-4 stage of doomsday.
The arrival of a Chosen One felt like a game arranged by the gods.
From the survivors inside a Safe Zone, one “lucky” person was picked without warning and turned into a Chosen One.
Once a Chosen One emerged, two opposing sides formed in that Safe Zone.
On one side stood the solitary Chosen One.
On the other side were all the remaining people in the Safe Zone.
What the Chosen One needed to do, of course, was survive.
Yet that was extremely difficult.
The difficulty was not simply that other humans might hunt the Chosen One down.
Remember, a Chosen One could move freely inside certain Contaminated Zones.
Therefore, for pursuers to mount a large-scale operation in a Contaminated Zone and locate the Chosen One was no easy task.
Moreover, the Chosen One’s own power was Transcendent.
They equaled a Tier-4 Awakener and possessed at least one powerful kotodama arts.
Hence,
The true reason a Chosen One usually marched toward death lay in nightmares…
Much like destroying a pollution source, they had to face extremely perilous trials inside nightmares.
During an entire night of simulations, Su Ze learned through the Father God Listens Talent that somewhere in the world a Chosen One had survived.
The simulation itself never showed such a scene directly.
…
Day 233: Heavy fog.
Day 234: Strategy manuals on becoming an Awakener were distributed throughout your Safe Zone, yet some people still refused to try.
…
Day 240: More people in the Safe Zone died in nightmares, and after being hurt they finally understood fear; the last group of ordinary people set out to become Awakeners.
…
Day 288: Heavy fog.
Day 289: The Contaminated Zones stopped changing; you realized the final stage of doomsday had arrived, so you began systematically raiding Contaminated Zones to collect high-grade Transcendence materials.
Day 290: You fought a dual-kotodama user, spent considerable effort, killed him, and seized the high-grade Transcendence materials.
Day 291: You killed several Tier-5 Awakeners.
…
Day 300: You successfully helped Chen Keqing advance to a Tier-6 Awakener.
…
Day 325: You faced the toughest battle of doomsday and killed 12 Tier-6 Awakeners in a single day, half of whom possessed kotodama arts.
…
Day 330: The ground shook, Starry Sky fell, and doomsday seemed to reach its end; congratulations, you lived to the very last day.
Tier-6 Awakeners, even with kotodama arts, were no match for a gold-grade Talent.
Su Ze felt thoroughly satisfied.
He had once drawn a purple combat Talent.
Although that purple Talent also helped him defeat strong foes in the Tier-6 phase of doomsday, it had already been stretched thin.
Without Fallen Benefaction as a safety net, victory would have been uncertain.
Yet now…
The Invoking Gods Talent was clearly far stronger.
Unfortunately, it still failed to provide absolute dominance.
He figured he would still need Fallen Benefaction as backup; otherwise he could not guarantee certain victory.
“This is good enough…”
Su Ze muttered to himself.
If possible, he naturally wanted to stand alone at the very top.
Crushing everyone would be ideal.
But given the current conditions, he could not ask for too much.
If he really wanted more… was there not still a simulator version 2.0?
Simulation Assessment: A flawless doomsday journey.
Please choose one of the following three simulation rewards:
1. Classified intelligence on the Chosen One.
2. Death Rock (green).
3. Invoking Gods (gold).
Ding!
You selected the simulation reward… Invoking Gods (gold).
The simulator entered cooldown: 19 hours 59 minutes.
