At this moment, Rong Feng was completely different from the Rong Feng Mo Qi knew.
With each step he took towards Mo Qi, the environment around him would transform into mirrors.
The ground, the surroundings, above—the mirrors seemed to accompany Rong Feng constantly.
“What on earth did he do to become so terrifying? Xia Yao wasn’t this formidable,” Qin Xunfeng whispered from behind Mo Qi. The blood from the spirit behind him nearly smeared onto Mo Qi, causing him to take a step away in distaste.
“Rong Feng has been different from Xia Yao from the beginning,” Mo Qi said. “Xia Yao only killed an unguarded Xi Rou; he was a relatively simple boss. Rong Feng, on the other hand, took advantage of the situation when He Yang had already killed someone and was fighting with the mirror image of He Yang. Rong Feng struck in secret and killed He Yang. He possesses the strength of more than one person.”
“So what do we do? Should we use a flashlight to dazzle him?” Qin Xunfeng asked, recalling how they had subdued Xia Yao with this method.
Mo Qi replied, “The effectiveness of an R-level flashlight was due to the unique enhancement of the Mirror Maze. We exploited that effect to subdue Xia Yao. Now that we’re not in the Mirror Maze, the flashlight’s effectiveness is too weak to deal significant damage.”
“What should we do then? He doesn’t look like he’s here with good intentions!” Qin Xunfeng said nervously.
Mo Qi: “Deal with him as it comes. If it really doesn’t work out, just give him a call. I’ll give you the phone number.”
Before Rong Feng could get closer, Mo Qi quickly sent the phone number to Qin Xunfeng. Qin Xunfeng took a few steps back, trying to stay as far away from Rong Feng as possible.
Mo Qi, on the other hand, looked at Rong Feng without fear. He was curious about what had happened to this person caught in between, which made him change from a college student to someone who looked to be in his thirties.
Rong Feng stopped as the mirrors were about to engulf the space around Mo Qi. Wearing a trench coat and looking somewhat haggard, he said, “Mo Qi, long time no see. You… are still so young.”
Mo Qi calmly replied, “It hasn’t been that long. About two or three hours ago, we were still together for a team-building activity.”
“Really?” Rong Feng frowned, looking somewhat dazed. He pulled out a cigarette from his trench coat pocket, leisurely lit it, and exhaled a long plume of smoke before speaking, “But how is it that I’ve already been gone for ten years?”
Rong Feng appeared to be able to communicate, so Mo Qi, while keeping his distance, tested the waters, “The last time we saw each other was when you went to find Ke Manman and He Yang, and then probably two or three hours passed. During that time, some very strange things happened that I can’t quite explain.”
Mo Qi mentioned He Yang deliberately, watching Rong Feng’s reaction.
As expected, when Rong Feng heard “He Yang,” his hand holding the cigarette trembled. After a moment of hesitation, he said, “I couldn’t find them either. I encountered some strange things myself. Later, I left that mysterious place and spent ten years here in a daze.”
“Dazed and confused?” Mo Qi caught onto the key term in Rong Feng’s words. “Can you remember the details of these ten years?”
“Well, it’s hard to say. It feels like I lived through every single day of those ten years. I graduated from college, became an employee at a well-known company, worked diligently every day, and just like that, ten years passed in a haze. But if I try to recall the details of those ten years, it’s like they’re all blank. Maybe I’m under too much stress lately and need to see a psychologist?” Rong Feng said.
Mo Qi understood. Rong Feng’s condition seemed to be what the movie referred to as “ten years later.”
In movies and TV dramas, a phrase like “ten years later” can be covered in just a few seconds of footage, with actors drastically changing their appearances. But what about people like them who are integrated into the movie world? What should they do?
It seems Rong Feng, like this, only felt the passage of time but couldn’t remember the traces left behind.
“The strange things I encountered here are not convenient to discuss for now,” Mo Qi said. “I just want to ask you—did you find He Yang and the others at that time? I haven’t seen He Yang and Ke Manman since.”
Mo Qi deliberately mentioned He Yang again.
Rong Feng first extinguished his cigarette in a roadside trash can. As his hand touched the trash can, its surface also transformed into a smooth mirror.
Compared to Xia Yao’s childlike trick of hiding mirrors all over his body, Rong Feng’s ability was far more terrifying; he could turn anything into a mirror.
After discarding the cigarette butt, Rong Feng finally said, “I didn’t see them either, and I didn’t encounter them when I returned to the city.”
“Returned to the city?” Mo Qi exchanged a glance with Qin Xunfeng.
Qin Xunfeng’s SR-level task is to safely return all classmates to the city. It seems there is an invisible force connecting the beginnings and ends of these stories across the six merged movie worlds.
Assuming “Wilderness Terror” is the starting point, the space Rong Feng is currently in is set ten years after the events of “Wilderness Terror.” At the end of the movie “Wilderness Survival,” the group resolved Ke Manman’s psychological issues and happily returned to the city. Over the next ten years, Rong Feng became a socialite and recently has been under significant stress, necessitating psychological counseling.
It’s unclear whether Qin Xunfeng’s spirit behind him is tied to the original “Wilderness” before or after.
Mo Qi vaguely felt that sorting out the timeline of the six movies would be very helpful for him in cracking this task.
There are two timelines: one is the time outside the movies, that is, when each movie was released. The other is the time within the movies, though it’s unclear how these timelines are connected.
“Returning to the university in the city—didn’t you go back?” Rong Feng squinted. “Oh, right, you’ve only been gone for two or three hours and haven’t had a chance to return yet. So many strange things happened ten years ago that seeing such a young version of you now doesn’t feel out of place to me.”
Mo Qi felt a vague sense of danger from Rong Feng. He pulled Qin Xunfeng back a few more steps, and Qin Xunfeng tightened his grip on his phone. Meanwhile, the spirit behind him held him even closer.
“Hey?” Seeing the spirit’s movement, Mo Qi suddenly thought of something. He pointed at the space behind Qin Xunfeng and asked Rong Feng, “Do you see what’s behind him?”
Rong Feng’s gaze calmly swept over the area behind Qin Xunfeng. With an expressionless face, he replied, “What’s behind you?”
“He can’t see it?” Qin Xunfeng said. “You and Liang Tianxiu can see it. Why can’t he?”
Mo Qi explained, “It’s because they’re not in the same movie. The timelines are different. Your spirit behind you and Rong Feng don’t exist in the same reality, but you’re situated between the two realities.”
Qin Xunfeng: “Could you simplify that to a kindergarten level?”
Mo Qi glanced at him and said, “You can try entering his mirror world and see what kind of interesting reactions occur between the spirit behind you and the mirror world.”
Qin Xunfeng: “……”
Mo Qi gave him a pat on the back. “If you get trapped, I’ll go so far as to make Rong Feng fall in love with me to save you.”
Qin Xunfeng: “……”
That statement was surprisingly convincing. Mo Qi certainly had the ability to rescue him, but somehow it just felt off.
With ten minutes left before the spirit behind him claims his life, Mo Qi watched as the spirit went from merely sticking to Qin Xunfeng’s back to embracing him, then tightening around his neck, and now blood was dripping over half of Qin Xunfeng’s body. It seemed like the spirit was growing stronger with time.
“Alright, I’ll give it a try!” Qin Xunfeng bravely stepped in front of Mo Qi, placing himself between Mo Qi and Rong Feng.
“What were you just talking about? Why do I see your mouths moving but can’t hear anything?” Rong Feng asked in confusion. “Did you say something related to me that I’m not supposed to hear? Could it be that you know something about He Yang?”
Mo Qi and Qin Xunfeng had been discussing the spirit behind them. It seemed that whenever they talked about the spirit, Rong Feng couldn’t hear them, indicating that the barrier between different movies was blocking the transmission of sound.
Rong Feng’s concern about He Yang suggested that he was worried they might know he was the one who killed He Yang and was now trying to silence them.
The timelines of these movies are different, the character relationships are tangled, yet there is a subtle connection between them.
Rong Feng met He Yang in “Wilderness Survival,” killed He Yang in “Mysterious Mirror,” and now, in this seemingly “Zi Yue Liang Clinic” movie, he is dealing with psychological issues from killing a classmate ten years ago and needs treatment at a clinic.
Thus, the three movies are interconnected in this way.
Qin Xunfeng charged into the mirror world with the spirit behind him, unsure if he could merge the fourth movie with the previous three.
He darted in front of Rong Feng and threw a powerful punch at his face. Rong Feng was not a physical-type boss, and after ten years, his physical strength and reflexes were far inferior to those of the twenty-year-old Qin Xunfeng. He couldn’t avoid the blow and was struck hard, leaving him momentarily dazed.
“Seeking death! You’ve already found out about my connection with He Yang, haven’t you?” Rong Feng said coldly.
Using the mirror-like trash can to steady himself, Rong Feng clapped his hands together, causing countless mirrors to rush towards Qin Xunfeng. Surrounded by mirrors on all sides, Qin Xunfeng saw the spirit behind him, with its long hair disheveled and its body a grotesque mess, with joints contorted into unnatural positions.
Qin Xunfeng: “……”
It’s terrifying!
In the mirrors, there were countless reflections of Qin Xunfeng, and with them, countless spirits behind him. The spirit behind him seemed to have also seen itself in the mirrors. It curiously tilted its head, and its neck suddenly twisted at an odd angle. Its hands, which had been tightly gripping Qin Xunfeng’s neck, finally loosened as it adjusted its head and pointed at the reflections in the mirror, asking, “Who is that…?”
At the same time, Rong Feng also saw the spirit behind Qin Xunfeng. He trembled as he pointed at the mirror, asking, “What is that behind you?”
“It’s just the spirit behind me. Didn’t I just ask if you saw it?” Qin Xunfeng first answered Rong Feng and then turned to the spirit behind him, saying, “Who else could it be? Isn’t that you yourself in the mirror?”
Just two simple sentences delivered a heavy blow to Rong Feng and the spirit behind him.
“Ghost, a ghost!” Rong Feng shouted in panic. “There are ghosts in this world!”
Mo Qi, watching from the side, smirked mischievously. “What ghost? I don’t see anything. Could it be that you’ve done something wrong and now ghosts are knocking at your door?”
“Can’t you see what’s behind Qin Xunfeng?” Rong Feng asked in alarm.
“What?” Mo Qi feigned blindness. “Qin Xunfeng is just standing there, isn’t he?”
Meanwhile, Qin Xunfeng said to the spirit behind him, “Why don’t you touch the mirror and see if it’s really you?”
He deliberately took a few steps toward the mirror, and the spirit behind him, falling for the trick, reached out its bloodstained hand to touch the mirror.
This wasn’t just an ordinary mirror; it was the kind from “Mysterious Mirror,” where any skin contact would allow the person in the mirror to come to life!
As soon as the spirit’s hand touched the mirror, countless hands reached out from within the mirror, grabbing the spirit and pulling it into the mirror with immense force.
Seeing a chance to escape, Qin Xunfeng put in more effort. He adjusted the distance between himself and the spirit, increasing it by just a few centimeters, but that small gap was enough for him to completely separate himself from the spirit.
“You… unfaithful man…” the spirit screamed in agony.
Qin Xunfeng replied, “I didn’t do it. If you’re looking for someone, go find Rong Feng.”
He carefully avoided direct contact with the mirror surface, taking out his phone to call Rong Feng in the mirror world.
Meanwhile, Mo Qi was interfering with Rong Feng. “Your phone is ringing. Could it be something important? Should you answer it?”
At this moment, Mo Qi was using the Charming Aura ability on Rong Feng.
After interacting with the mirror image of Mo Qi, Mo Qi gained a slight understanding of the Charming Aura’s application. He realized he didn’t need to force others to like him to achieve control. For seemingly minor matters, Mo Qi could leverage the natural affinity created by the Charming Aura to influence others to follow his suggestions.
The system named this ability “Help Me Out” The negative effect is that he must randomly give something in return to the influenced party, with the specifics of the reward depending on luck.
Under the temptation of “Help Me Out” (帮帮我嘛), Rong Feng picked up the phone despite the bizarre situation before him.
The phone was filled with the voices of countless behind-the-scenes spirits: “Rong Feng, you answered the phone, hehe, now it’s your turn~”
Even though the behind-the-scenes spirits were consumed by the mirror, Qin Xunfeng still felt a heavy weight on his back, as if a piece of skin had been torn away. But once Rong Feng answered the call, Qin Xunfeng’s back suddenly felt lighter.
He was curious about how the behind-the-scenes spirits from a different dimension could come into contact with Rong Feng, especially since the behind-the-scenes spirits were trapped in the mirror, with only a mirrored version of the spirit emerging.
The mirrored spirit suddenly became calm. It glanced at the behind-the-scenes spirit in the mirror. The two spirits locked eyes and spoke in unison: “Since I can’t go to be with you, then you come and be with me.”
As the words fell, the mirror image spirit chose to merge into the mirror itself, causing countless behind-the-scenes spirits to appear within the mirror, sending shivers down Qin Xunfeng’s spine.
Seizing the opportunity, Mo Qi kicked the dazed Rong Feng into the mirror world. This mirror world, created by Rong Feng, was originally his own realm and would not harm him directly. However, it was now filled with countless behind-the-scenes spirits.
The moment Rong Feng entered the mirror world, numerous mirror images of him appeared on the mirror’s surface. The behind-the-scenes spirits quickly attached themselves to his mirror images, clinging tightly.
Taking advantage of the distraction, Qin Xunfeng scrambled out of the mirror world, still shaken, and stood with Mo Qi, watching Rong Feng being entangled by the spirits.
Rong Feng was only being entangled in his mirror image, not his real self.
He acted decisively, reabsorbing the mirror world and restoring everything to normal, panting heavily as he reappeared at the intersection.
The intense battle had gone unnoticed by anyone around. A few passersby even walked through them, and as they passed Qin Xunfeng, one of them whispered in his ear, “Have you heard of the Purple Moon Clinic?”
After escaping the behind-the-scenes spirits, Qin Xunfeng finally heard the sound of the movie.
With the mirror world absorbed, Rong Feng cautiously looked around, and seeing that there were no reflective surfaces that could create images, he let out a slight sigh of relief.
At this moment, Mo Qi took out the makeup mirror that had once sealed Liang Tianxiu from his pocket and waved it at Rong Feng.
“Don’t!!” Rong Feng shouted, “I have it sealed in the mirror. As long as there’s no mirror, it can’t harm me.”
Since Rong Feng’s ability was derived from mirrors, the mirror had sealed the behind-the-scenes spirits, and the behind-the-scenes spirits had sealed Rong Feng’s mirror world. Under Mo Qi’s guidance, the two bosses had successfully completed their mutual sealing.
“Finally safe,” Qin Xunfeng said, rubbing his back and wiping the sticky blood off his face with his sleeve.
Rong Feng asked, “What exactly is going on? Why did a behind-the-scenes spirit suddenly appear?”
“That will be explained later,” Mo Qi said, holding up the makeup mirror to threaten Rong Feng. “Do you know about the Purple Moon Clinic?”
“Purple Moon Clinic?” Rong Feng was taken aback. “It’s a psychological clinic in the same office building as my company. Dr. Duan there is quite famous. He once told me I was under too much stress and suggested I make an appointment at his clinic. He even prescribed some sleep aid for me. By the way, I’ve run out of my medication and need to get a new prescription, but there’s a mirror in his clinic. I can’t go myself. Mo Qi, could you please go and get the medication for me? I followed your instructions and answered the phone just now.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Mo Qi felt an irresistible force.
It was the negative effect of “Help Me Out”, requiring him to perform a small task for Rong Feng, which was to go to the Purple Moon Clinic to pick up the medication.
It was indeed a small task, but the Purple Moon Clinic was clearly the most dangerous place in this movie! Mo Qi’s luck was truly not great.
