Chapter 1: Flash Marriage to a Vegetative Husband
“Marriage to Yancheng: one million per month.”
“The marriage is tentatively set for two years. During these two years, you cannot publicly disclose your relationship, you cannot get pregnant, and we have the right to terminate the relationship at any time.”
“After the divorce, our Li family will compensate you with fifty million in a lump sum.”
“I know you urgently need money. Your mother is still in the hospital waiting for money for surgery, and you have a brother in college.”
“As long as you sign this agreement, I will give you one million immediately, and I can arrange for your mother to be transferred to the best hospital, and have the best experts perform her surgery.”
“My time is precious; I can only give you five minutes to consider.”
The woman speaking sat elegantly in a chair, exquisitely dressed. Though in her forties, she looked no older than thirty.
Her tone was condescending and dismissive. She glanced down at the watch on her wrist, seemingly timing her words.
“Ah?” Jiang Yan looked bewildered after hearing these words. “What do you mean? You want me to marry Mr. Li? Why would you want me to…”
Yu Lan impatiently glared at her, interrupting her, “You don’t need to know too much. Just tell me your answer.”
Jiang Yan opened her mouth, wanting to speak further, but upon meeting Yu Lan’s displeased gaze, she swallowed her words.
“Three minutes left,” Yu Lan reminded her.
Jiang Yan stood still, her hands nervously fidgeting at the hem of her skirt.
She was a junior designer at Li Corporation, and had been working at the company as usual today.
Just now, the manager of the design department said that Mrs. Li wanted to see her and brought her here.
“One minute left,” Yu Lan’s tone grew increasingly impatient.
“I agree,” Jiang Yan nodded quickly, fearing Yu Lan would change her mind. Her voice was timid. “I can ask nothing, as long as you can really get my mother the best treatment.”
Yu Lan wasn’t surprised by Jiang Yan’s answer.
Li Corporation was the richest in the capital. Countless women longed to become Mrs. Li.
For Jiang Yan, this was a stroke of unexpected fortune.
Furthermore, Jiang Yan’s mother had always been in poor health. Six months ago, she suddenly fell seriously ill and now urgently needs a kidney transplant. The exorbitant surgery costs were beyond her means.
How could she possibly refuse?
Yu Lan coldly scanned her, her gaze falling to the contract. “Take a look; if you have no objections, sign it.”
Jiang Yan hesitated, then picked up the contract, read it through, and signed.
“Butler Du will handle the rest; just follow his instructions,” Yu Lan said before standing up, not wanting to say another word to her, and walked out.
Jiang Yan blinked, looking at Butler Du beside her with some apprehension.
Butler Du clearly looked down on her, but since she was about to become Mrs. Li, he had to show some respect.
“Give me your household registration booklet; I’ll go get the marriage certificate for you and the young master,” Butler Du said. “From today on, you don’t need to come to work, just focus on being Mrs. Li.”
“Don’t we need to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau together with Mr. Li to get the marriage certificate?” Jiang Yan questioned.
“The young master can’t go in person; me going on your behalf is the same,” Butler Du replied.
“Why can’t he go in person?” Jiang Yan frowned and asked again. “Is the CEO too busy to spare even this little time?”
Butler Du looked at Jiang Yan, his face showing impatience: “Madam, I advise you to ask less.”
Seeing his reaction, Jiang Yan bit her lip slightly and nodded cautiously.
Jiang Yan didn’t have her household registration booklet with her, so she went home with Butler Du to get it.
In just a few minutes, Butler Du had obtained the marriage certificate.
When Jiang Yan looked at the red booklet in her hand, she was utterly astonished.
She was married?
And her husband was the CEO of Li Corporation, the richest in the capital?
Jiang Yan returned to the Li family with Butler Du.
This was Jiang Yan’s first time stepping into the Li family’s gates. Her eyes scanned the luxurious manor, whose photos she had only occasionally seen in entertainment news.
Butler Du’s contempt for her grew at the sight of her awestruck expression, but he still dutifully gave her a brief introduction to the Li family.
“The head of the Li family is the old patriarch. He prefers quietude and lives in the small villa to the south. Don’t disturb him unless necessary.”
“The master and mistress live in the main villa. The young master and the second miss are twins and live in the villa next door. The second miss is usually busy with work and is not home often.”
“The second master and his wife live in the villa to the north…”
Jiang Yan listened attentively to every word Butler Du said.
Butler Du took Jiang Yan upstairs and into a room.
On the large bed lay a handsome man with a sickly pale complexion.
“This is your husband, Madam. From now on, you need to take care of the young master until he recovers.”
Jiang Yan’s eyes widened as she heard Butler Du’s words and looked again at the man on the bed.
She pointed at Li Yancheng: “He…he…what’s wrong with him?”
“As you see, Madam, the young master is currently in a vegetative state,” Butler Du’s voice held a hint of sadness. “Six months ago, the young master was in a car accident and has been in a coma ever since.”
“Six months ago? Wasn’t it said that the CEO was on a business trip?” Jiang Yan’s face showed disbelief. “So, I married a vegetative man?”
Butler Du nodded: “Otherwise, why do you think you could marry into the Li family?”
“But, why me?” Jiang Yan’s delicate and pretty face showed unconcealed fear and anxiety.
“That’s not something I can tell you,” Butler Du said. “A doctor will come to teach you how to care for the young master later. I hope you will study hard.”
“Don’t worry, since I’ve taken the money and already got the marriage certificate with the CEO, I will do my best to take care of him,” Jiang Yan nodded obediently.
Soon a doctor came to teach Jiang Yan, and she learned diligently.
She needed to wipe Li Yancheng’s body twice a day, massage him for half an hour every three hours to prevent muscle atrophy from lying down.
She also needed to monitor his condition at all times and have the doctor check him every eight hours.
The maids could do these things, but they insisted Jiang Yan do it herself.
However, Jiang Yan didn’t ask more questions.
In the evening, Jiang Yan stayed with Li Yancheng alone.
She needed to personally wipe Li Yancheng’s body.
Although she had prepared herself mentally, Jiang Yan was still a naive girl who had never been in a relationship.
When undressing Li Yancheng, Jiang Yan’s hands trembled, and her voice was slightly fearful: “CEO, I…I’m going to wipe your body. If you disagree, shake your head or blink. If you don’t react…”
“I…I’ll assume you agree,” Jiang Yan swallowed.
Li Yancheng’s cold and ruthless reputation had spread throughout the capital; Jiang Yan was afraid he would get angry and furious when he woke up.
