Chapter 7: My Obsession with Cleanliness
The old patriarch had spoken, so this meal had to be eaten.
Lord Li Yancheng proactively pointed to a wheelchair.
Jiang Yan understood his meaning and pushed the wheelchair over.
While pushing Li Yancheng downstairs, they encountered Li Yanshen before reaching the dining room.
Li Yancheng’s younger brother.
“Big Brother…” Li Yanshen approached with a smile on his face, “Big Brother, you’ve finally woken up after lying down for so long.”
“I originally wanted to visit you before, but my aunt said you needed to rest after waking up, so I didn’t dare disturb you.”
“Looking at Big Brother’s complexion, you seem to have recovered quite well.”
After Li Yanshen finished speaking, his gaze turned to Jiang Yan who was pushing the wheelchair: “This is Sister-in-law, right?”
“Hello, Sister-in-law, I’m Li Yanshen, you can just call me Yanshen.”
Seeing Li Yanshen extending his hand towards her, Jiang Yan politely smiled and nodded.
Just as she was about to reach out to shake his hand, she heard Li Yancheng’s cold voice: “This wheelchair is of poor quality. If you let go, it might roll away on its own.”
Jiang Yan naturally understood the meaning of his words. She immediately retracted her hand. Just as she was about to apologize, Li Yanshen’s voice came first: “Taking care of Big Brother is important.”
Then Li Yanshen gestured with a welcoming hand: “Big Brother, Sister-in-law, please go ahead.”
Jiang Yan nodded again in response.
Then she pushed the wheelchair towards the dining room.
The old patriarch saw them enter and immediately beckoned, his face carrying a benevolent smile: “Come, over here.”
Jiang Yan stood still and quietly asked Li Yancheng: “Should we go over?”
Her current situation in the Li family could only prioritize Li Yancheng.
Li Yancheng nodded. Although his voice was still cold, it concealed a hint of satisfaction: “Go.”
Jiang Yan then pushed Li Yancheng to the old patriarch’s side.
“Grandpa…” A smile appeared on Li Yancheng’s face.
“Looking at your complexion, Jiang…” The old patriarch couldn’t recall Jiang Yan’s name, pondering and asking, “Jiang… what was it again?”
“Jiang Yan…” Li Yancheng’s voice was gentle.
“Right, Jiang Yan…” The old patriarch smiled and turned his gaze to Jiang Yan, “It seems Jiang Yan has taken good care of you.”
“Hello, Grandpa.” Hearing the old patriarch mention her, Jiang Yan immediately politely smiled and greeted him.
“Come closer, let Grandpa take a good look.” The old patriarch beckoned to Jiang Yan.
“Wait a moment, Grandpa, I’ll help… ” Jiang Yan was used to calling Li Yancheng “CEO,” but it was clearly inappropriate at this moment. She immediately corrected herself, “…help Yancheng sit properly.”
Jiang Yan helped Li Yancheng up from the wheelchair and then helped him sit in a chair before walking to the old patriarch.
The old patriarch sat in his chair, raising his head and looking at her with loving eyes.
Seeing this, Jiang Yan immediately squatted down obediently and considerately, allowing the old patriarch to see her without having to raise his head.
The old patriarch was very satisfied with her words and actions, the smile on his old face deepening: “Good, good.”
After saying “good” twice, the old patriarch said to the old butler who was taking care of him: “Atian, give me the bracelet.”
The old patriarch received the bracelet and, with trembling hands, offered it to Jiang Yan: “This is a meeting gift for seeing my granddaughter-in-law for the first time.”
Before Jiang Yan could say anything, she saw several people who were originally sitting at the dinner table stand up.
The first to speak was Li Minghai’s sister-in-law, Yuan Liru. Her tone was agitated: “This bracelet is a Li family heirloom passed down to the daughter-in-law. It’s not suitable for her.”
The old patriarch frowned at her disapprovingly: “Then who do you think it’s suitable for?”
The question left Yuan Liru extremely embarrassed. She quickly explained with a smile: “I mean, she just got her marriage certificate with Yancheng not long ago, and the wedding hasn’t even been held yet. Giving it to her now is a bit too early.”
“Getting the marriage certificate makes her the granddaughter-in-law of my Li family. As for the wedding, it will naturally be held when Yancheng’s body is completely recovered.”
“Jiang Yan is the great lucky star of our Li family. Yancheng was unconscious for half a year and didn’t wake up, but she married in and he woke up immediately.”
The old patriarch saw that Jiang Yan had initially reached out to take it, but after hearing Yuan Liru’s words, she retracted her hand.
He directly reached out, took Jiang Yan’s hand, and put the bracelet on her wrist.
“Grandpa, this bracelet is too valuable, I…”
Before Jiang Yan could finish speaking, the old patriarch gently patted her hand, reassuring her to accept it.
The old patriarch nodded in satisfaction: “It suits you perfectly, it’s beautiful.”
When Yuan Liru saw the bracelet already on Jiang Yan’s hand, she wanted to say something else, but she heard Yu Lan’s somewhat sarcastic voice: “Sister-in-law, don’t covet this bracelet. Even if it’s not given to Yanyan, according to the order of the eldest son and grandson, it wouldn’t be your turn.”
Yu Lan originally thought the bracelet would be given to her, but unexpectedly, the old patriarch bypassed them and gave it to Jiang Yan.
Although she didn’t like Jiang Yan, she hated Yuan Liru even more.
“Heh…” Yuan Liru couldn’t help but laugh when she heard the term “Yanyan,” “Yanyan? Calling her so affectionately, those who don’t know would think you like this daughter-in-law so much. Don’t forget, who was it before who punished…”
Before Yuan Liru finished speaking, Li Mingshan reached out and pulled her down, reprimanding her: “Sit down, say less.”
Yuan Liru was so angry that her whole body trembled, but she could only sit down helplessly.
“If Yanyan doesn’t dislike this old man, sit beside me.” The old man seemed to be used to it, ignoring their words.
“Grandpa, you’re joking.” Jiang Yan obediently sat beside the old man, smiling and thanking him, “Thank you, Grandpa.”
Everyone had already sat down. After the old man looked around, he said, “Let’s eat.”
Only after the old man took the first bite did everyone dare to start eating.
Heads bowed, everyone ate their own food.
The atmosphere at the table was silent and cold.
To ease the atmosphere, Li Yanshen proactively served Li Yancheng some food, smiling and saying, “Big Brother, you’ve just recovered, eat more to replenish your strength.”
“Thank you, but you know, I have a cleanliness obsession.” Li Yancheng smiled faintly, then said to the servant behind him, “Change the tableware.”
This added to the awkwardness.
Jiang Yan felt the meal was stifling.
Just as she thought she was about to be liberated, Li Yanshen’s phone rang.
“Excuse me, I’ll take a call.”
After Li Yanshen answered the phone, he nodded seriously: “Okay, I understand.”
“Our company will immediately come up with a solution that will satisfy your company.”
“Rest assured, our company attaches great importance to this cooperation.”
After ending the call, Li Yanshen looked at the old patriarch with a serious expression: “Grandpa, it was a call from Uncle Xia’s people. They’re urging the contract progress.
During the time Big Brother was unconscious, the cooperation was put on hold, and Uncle Xia is very dissatisfied.”
“You want to follow up on this cooperation?” The old patriarch saw through his intentions at a glance.
