The Only Human in the World Chapter 11

Chapter 11

When Anshus rushed over, You Mi was standing on a bucket, his small body swaying unsteadily. One hand gripped the edge of the high platform while the other carefully stroked the “Big Cat Head.” His slender ankles trembled slightly as if he might fall at any moment…

Anshus immediately scooped You Mi into his arms.

Holding him like a delicate doll, Anshus completely immobilized You Mi, whose long legs dangled helplessly without room to struggle.

After only a second of surprise, You Mi pointed at the platform and exclaimed, “Mimi seems stuck in that gap!”

Just then, Carl hurried over, wiping his nosebleed as he hastily explained, “Mr. You Mi, that’s a Simulation Pet Monitor, not a real cat. No need to worry… My apologies, I forgot to mention it earlier.”

You Mi turned to look at the “cat.” With his broader field of vision now, he quickly spotted the wires behind the cat’s head.

…So it really was a monitor!

“Ah, I see,” You Mi muttered awkwardly, cheeks flushing slightly. He realized he hadn’t researched enough before coming.

To Carl, the blushing You Mi appeared pitifully timid. As he stepped forward to comfort the poor little thing, Anshus suddenly bent down and set You Mi back on his feet.

Carl: “?”

The monster walked over to deactivate the still-rotating monitor, then raised his fist and smashed the high platform into splinters.

Carl: “…” This scene looked all too familiar.

It reminded him of parents pounding the floor after their child tripped, blaming the ground instead.

You Mi only heard a thunderous crash before Anshus lifted him again, having already destroyed the platform without him seeing.

Wiping sweat, Carl quickly explained, “It’s nothing. His Highness Anshus just wanted to… redecorate this corridor.”

“Oh,” You Mi responded dumbfounded, staying obediently in Anshus’s arms.

After finishing his small cake, Anshus took him upstairs to one of the bedrooms.

The enormous bedroom was divided into two sections. The outer half clearly served as the main bedroom, furnished with classical elegance that exuded solemn dignity. Documents on the desk confirmed this as Anshus’s quarters. But the inner portion was… jarringly different.

Carl solemnly gestured toward the Pink Little Castle, announcing, “Mr. You Mi, this is your room. From now on, you’ll be neighbors with His Highness.”

You Mi: “…”

Anshus gently set him down, studying his face intently as if gauging his reaction.

While You Mi stood speechless, Carl brought over his small leather suitcase: “Your luggage.”

Accepting it in a daze, You Mi instinctively stepped forward. He pushed open the tiny door and entered the little castle, looking around before setting down his suitcase. Venturing further inside, he found the largest chamber stocked with every conceivable furnishing—a wardrobe filled with perfectly-sized miniature clothes, small exercise equipment…

Overwhelmed by the dazzling array, You Mi followed Carl’s instructions from outside and climbed to the castle’s second floor. There, a miniature study awaited. Peering out from its window, he found Anshus and Carl staring intently at him from the main bedroom.

You Mi took a deep breath and couldn’t help exclaiming, “It’s… really big inside!”

“…” Carl raised his hand to stuff the tissue deeper into his nostrils.

In places You Mi couldn’t see, the monster’s wings were trembling behind its back.

Taking advantage of the Crown Prince’s distraction, Carl quickly captured this moment with his Optical Brain and immediately opened the newly created group chat, sending the photo there.

Carl: [Photo] Still working hard today.

Within seconds, the group chat was flooded with exclamation marks.

After touring his “employee dormitory,” You Mi was taken by Anshus to the media room to watch a movie.

When Carl left as the “friendly senior,” You Mi felt an indescribable tension. Being alone with the monster was inevitably frightening. He sat with both hands tightly clenched on his knees.

Anshus watched him for a while before standing up, his pupils shifting as he rummaged through a cabinet nearby.

Just as You Mi pursed his lips, too nervous to look, a blanket suddenly draped over his upper body.

The massive monster took out a small white shawl, carefully wrapping it around his shoulders while retracting its claws, then turned down the air conditioning.

He thought You Mi was cold.

You Mi wasn’t cold, but clutching the blanket inexplicably boosted his sense of security, easing much of his tension.

The screen played a documentary about humans.

Once relaxed, You Mi focused on watching.

He had seen many animal documentaries in his life, but this was his first time watching one about humans.

The documentary was well-made, with highly realistic illustrations and CGI of humans. As a human himself, You Mi found nothing amiss.

The narration explained that ten thousand years ago, Sina Star had been home to a large human population, which gradually went extinct due to geomagnetic changes. Today, Sina Star People could only see humans through fossil reconstructions…

On screen, an expert was enthusiastically listing the differences between humans and Sina Star People.

You Mi’s expression turned grave.

He recalled dinosaur documentaries…

The thought struck him: To Sina Star People, was he just a living dinosaur?

As the documentary neared its end, the host suddenly asked, “There’s one question I’m personally very curious about. Today seems like a good opportunity to ask Professor Weir.”

“Go ahead.”

“Were there gay humans too?”

“…”

The monster beside him froze.

You Mi turned his head just in time to see it staring coldly at the expert.

The expert shrugged. “I’m sorry, but we don’t know the answer to that.”

The monster’s expression seemed to darken.

The host pressed on, “Then is there any chance we might see humans in the future?”

The expert chuckled. “You’re quite the whimsical host. I suppose that might happen… in our dreams.”

Host: “…”

You Mi was growing sleepy, but remembering it was his first day at work, he didn’t dare slack off. He forced his eyes wide open, trying to stay alert.

Yet sleepiness was uncontrollable. You Mi’s eyes widened, then narrowed, widened again, then narrowed once more… He had no idea when he finally dozed off.

He only stirred when his body sensed something different in his surroundings, barely opening his eyes to a slit.

In the blurry vision, a pair of enormous claws gently placed him on the bed and carefully tucked him in.

You Mi hovered between wakefulness and sleep, his consciousness unclear, but the last remnants of his willpower made him groan as he tried to get up.

Until a voice, icy in tone yet tinged with helpless tenderness, came from outside: “…Good afternoon, good afternoon… Mi Mi… good afternoon…”

His heavy eyelids gradually closed, and You Mi drifted off to sleep, reassured.

In the hour before You Mi woke from his nap, Anshus never once left the little castle.

Like a demon coveting treasure or a hidden guardian lurking in the shadows, he hunched over, his golden eyes fixed unblinkingly on the small window.

Inside the window, You Mi slowly stirred from his nap.

Still groggy from sleep, he sat up in a daze, his hair tousled and his gaze vacant.

You Mi tilted his head up, taking a moment to recognize his own bedroom…

Outside the tiny castle.

Anshus’ gaze pierced through the windowpane as he watched You Mi rub his eyes, smooth his hair, and slowly open his Optical Brain, speaking lethargically into the camera: “I am awake. Feeling fine.”

After recording, he saved the video into an album titled *Work Unit Experiment Log*.

Preceding this video were countless others You Mi had secretly filmed when no one was around—each one meticulously professional:

[*I have started work. Feeling fine.*]

[*I have eaten. Feeling fine.*]

[*I have been carried. Feeling fine.*]
