Song Wenjing was doing his best to showcase his domestic side to Shi Shaoyu.
For example, every time Shi Shaoyu came home from work, he’d find Song Wenjing in the kitchen, wearing an apron and cooking.
“Perfect timing, you’re back just as I finished making dinner,” Song Wenjing said.
Although Song Wenjing knew that Shi Shaoyu didn’t have the habit of eating dinner, he couldn’t let that slide. It wasn’t healthy.
Under Song Wenjing’s persistence, Shi Shaoyu eventually gave in. Every day after work, he’d accept whatever Song Wenjing prepared for him, which wasn’t limited to just food.
Song Wenjing was quite pleased with the progress of his “strategy.” He was taking good care of Shi Shaoyu, and Shi Shaoyu had grown used to his presence. In fact, when Song Wenjing wasn’t around, Shi Shaoyu found himself feeling somewhat uneasy.
Song Wenjing thought everything was going smoothly and that he was gradually breaking down Shi Shaoyu’s defenses. But then, Shi Bai brought some bad news—Shi Shaoyu’s childhood friend, who grew up with him, had just returned from abroad and invited Shi Shaoyu to a hotel.
Song Wenjing was furious. He nearly sped his way there.
Inside the hotel, however, the atmosphere between Shi Shaoyu and Shen Cheng was not romantic at all.
Shen Cheng clicked his tongue, “I just got off the plane, and you’re using me as a tool right away. Don’t forget what you promised me.”
Shi Shaoyu smirked, “Don’t worry, I’ll tell you everything about Shi Bai’s situation.”
Since Shi Bai was willing to sell him out to curry favor, it was only fair he returned the favor by selling out his brother.
“But are you sure that provoking Song Wenjing like this will make him confess his feelings?” Shen Cheng asked, skeptical.
Shi Shaoyu chuckled, taking a sip of water, “I don’t know. Let’s find out.”
A knock on the door came, loud and urgent.
Shi Shaoyu motioned with his chin for Shen Cheng to open the door.
Song Wenjing, with a tense expression, knocked harder and faster until the door finally opened.
A stranger greeted him coolly, “What do you want?”
“I’m here for Shi Shaoyu,” Song Wenjing said, his gaze sweeping over Shen Cheng with palpable hostility.
Shen Cheng squinted but followed the script. “He’s inside.”
As soon as Song Wenjing stepped into the room, his expression changed, turning into a pitiful pout, “Shi-ge…”
Seeing this shift in demeanor, Shen Cheng couldn’t help but click his tongue in amazement.
“What’s wrong? How did you find your way here?” Shi Shaoyu asked, pretending to be clueless.
“You promised to come watch my game today,” Song Wenjing said, looking down at the floor.
“I haven’t forgotten. I’ll be there,” Shi Shaoyu smiled. “I just have some work to finish first. Why don’t you wait in the car for me, okay?”
With those coaxing words, Shi Shaoyu managed to soothe Song Wenjing, as though he were calming a child.
“Just a little while, okay?” Song Wenjing murmured.
Shi Shaoyu nodded.
Before leaving, Song Wenjing shot Shen Cheng a fierce glare.
Poor Shen Cheng closed the door and remarked to Shi Shaoyu, “This guy isn’t someone to be messed with.”
“I know,” Shi Shaoyu replied with a grin.
Shi Shaoyu did indeed attend Song Wenjing’s game. As he walked toward Song Wenjing afterward, there was a possessive aura about him, as though marking his territory. After all, Song Wenjing was quite popular in university.
“Here, drink some water,” Shi Shaoyu said, handing him a bottle with the cap already twisted off.
Song Wenjing smiled, “Was I good?”
Shi Shaoyu raised a hand to wipe the sweat off his forehead. “Very good. Young people are always so full of energy.”
Song Wenjing froze momentarily, unsure whether his rapid heartbeat was from the intense exercise or the person in front of him.
He was totally mesmerized again.
Seeing this, Shi Shaoyu suppressed a smile and teased, “What’s wrong? Is this a bit much for you? I do the same for Shi Bai when he plays.”
Song Wenjing’s expression fell, his eyes lowering in disappointment.
Really? It was just a sibling thing?
He brooded over this all evening, and later, while drinking with Shi Bai, he couldn’t help but bring it up.
Shi Bai frowned, “What sweat wiping?”
“Your brother,” Song Wenjing said, slightly tipsy and jealous. “He wipes your sweat after your games.”
Shi Bai’s expression turned odd. “You’ve got to be kidding! After I play, my brother stays miles away from me because he thinks I smell. There’s no way he’d wipe my sweat!”
“You’re exaggerating!” Shi Bai exclaimed.
Song Wenjing immediately perked up, his eyes shining.
“So, if your brother wiped my sweat, does that mean he likes me?”
Shi Bai pushed him away, laughing, “Probably. My brother’s got a serious cleanliness obsession. He can’t stand even his own brother.”
“If he doesn’t mind you, it might just be true love.”
Song Wenjing’s mood lifted instantly, but before he could relish in it too much, his mother called him home. After being away for several days, Song Wenjing missed Shi Shaoyu terribly.
When he learned that his father and Shi Shaoyu would be attending the same business event, he clung to his father, begging to come along.
Shi Shaoyu was as dazzling as ever, standing among the crowd like a beacon, drawing everyone’s attention. Many people were eager to form ties with him, especially through marriage.
Song Wenjing, standing not far away, watched as Shi Shaoyu gracefully handled the eager crowd. Even though Shi Shaoyu clearly saw him, he acted as if he hadn’t. His gaze merely skimmed over him without stopping.
Frustrated, Song Wenjing gulped down a glass of champagne, preparing to push his way through the crowd when someone else intercepted.
“Alright, alright, everyone, that’s enough. Give Mr. Shi a break, okay? Let him rest for a bit,” said the host, a middle-aged man with sharp eyes and a sly smile.
“Mr. Shi, there’s a room upstairs for you to rest and sober up.”
Something felt off!
Song Wenjing squinted, mentally going over what he knew about the man. This guy had a notorious son with a reputation for being a sleaze. There was no way Shi Shaoyu didn’t know that.
