Chapter 21: Baiting Fish, Catching Big Fish
“Yi Han, you’re here?” Lu Sheng put away her phone and looked at the food in his hands. After sleeping for so long, she was indeed hungry.
“Mm, Miss Lu, is there something you need?” Yi Han asked softly as he set the food down.
Lu Sheng eagerly took a spoonful of hot porridge, savoring the fragrant rice flavor that filled her mouth, making her feel comfortable.
“It’s nothing, I just wanted to ask when Miss Zhou will be back. Didn’t she say she was going to try on wedding dresses? She’s supposed to marry Ah Ci in three days.” Lu Sheng’s tone became cold as she mentioned this.
“Mm, she’ll probably be back tomorrow afternoon. But I doubt the wedding will happen,” Yi Han replied. Lu Sheng nodded as he stood beside her after eating the last dish.
While eating, Lu Sheng shared her and Sang Yuwan’s plan with him, and Yi Han seemed to be deep in thought after hearing it.
“Just follow my instructions the day after tomorrow. Bring her over to separate her from Ah Ci.” “Okay.”
As soon as Zhou Yanguan got off the plane, she rushed to Shuicun. It was already six in the evening.
“Here’s one million. Is that enough for you to drop the charges?” Zhou Yanguan tossed a card onto the greasy table, her face showing disgust.
The woman and her husband had never seen so much money before. Initially, they thought of offering only sixty thousand, but who knew this woman would be so generous! Their greedy expressions made Zhou Yanguan sneer.
“So much money!”
“What do you say? Will you withdraw the lawsuit?”
“Agreed! Agreed! We’ll withdraw right away!”
The couple clutched the card tightly, nodding like they were beating garlic, their sycophantic demeanor was truly ridiculous.
One million was enough to save Xu He from prison, and it bought a precious life. How absurd…
“Don’t cause me any more trouble,” Zhou Yanguan said, pulling another card from her bag. “This one has ten million on it. Use it sparingly. I’ll give you another fifty million next month.”
“Got it.” Xu He spat, grabbing the card greedily.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back to the hotel. This place is disgusting!” Zhou Yanguan wrinkled her nose in disgust, the mud on her shoes made her feel uneasy.
“The young lady is too spoiled!” Xu He turned to leave, saying, “I wish you a happy wedding. Don’t forget to send the money!” He hummed a tune as he quickly vanished into the alley.
When Zhou Yanguan arrived at the hotel, she glanced at the time—eight o’clock at night. She decided to call Lu Chuan. When the call connected, it was Yi Han’s voice: “Hello, Miss Zhou.”
“Yi Han, where’s Ah Ci?”
“Mr. Lu is drunk from a social gathering and is asleep.”
“Then please remember to tell him to pick me up at the airport tomorrow at five in the afternoon.”
“Understood.”
Zhou Yanguan hung up with a sweet smile, grabbed her clothes, and headed for the shower, tossing the muddy shoes into the trash can.
Yi Han glanced at Lu Chuan, who lay passed out on the floor. Sighing, he felt a bit of a headache…
Just as he finally settled his boss, the phone rang immediately.
“Hello.” Yi Han rubbed his temples.
“Yi Han, we caught Xu He according to your instructions, in Shuicun.”
“Good, treat him well, but don’t kill him; he’s an ace.” “Understood!”
The next day, Zhou Yanguan specifically asked her cousin Zhou Jia for a wedding dress. Zhou Jia had participated in competitions with Sang Yuwan, where Sang Yuwan narrowly defeated her. She was quite a renowned figure in the design circle.
Though Zhou Jia disliked her cousin, she had no choice but to lend her the store’s treasure, valued at seventy million.
Zhou Jia felt reluctant, but she didn’t want to offend this cousin, especially since she was marrying the richest and most powerful man in Huaian…
So, Zhou Yanguan paid no heed to her cousin’s sarcasm, and only after sending this great Buddha away did she breathe a sigh of relief.
Lu Chuan had slept all day, occasionally murmuring, “Li Mo…”
Aunt Chen had fed him some hangover soup, but he kept vomiting it out.
When Zhou Yanguan saw Yi Han arriving to pick her up, dissatisfaction and anger were written all over her face. “Where’s Ah Ci? Why isn’t he here to pick me up?”
“Sorry, Miss Zhou. Mr. Lu has a meeting, and we received news from the hospital that Miss Lu is waking up. He has to go to the hospital shortly and can’t make it,” Yi Han replied apologetically.
Zhou Yanguan felt a jolt of panic: “What did you say? Lu Sheng is waking up?”
Yi Han looked at her in confusion. “Yeah, what’s wrong?”
Realizing something was off, Zhou Yanguan immediately put on a delighted smile: “No… I’m just happy. After so long, Lu Sheng is finally waking up… Ah Ci must be overjoyed.”
“Yes, Mr. Lu is very happy; he hasn’t even eaten dinner.”
When Zhou Yanguan returned home, her face was pale, beads of sweat forming on her brow as she stumbled back to her room.
Lu Sheng is waking up! What to do? Once she wakes up, everything I’ve done will be exposed!
Back then, when she arranged to meet Jiang Yi and Xu He at the teahouse, she chose that place thinking it would be less crowded to plan, not expecting to find Lu Sheng eavesdropping and recording at the entrance!
She hurriedly hid to the side. After Lu Sheng left in a rush, she quickly arranged for the driver to cause the car accident, deleted the recording from her phone, paid the driver fifty million, and pretended to discover the accident. Afterward, it logically shifted the blame to Li Mo…
But she never expected Lu Sheng to be rescued and end up in a vegetative state!
She had worried Lu Sheng might wake up and had someone watch over the hospital for over a year. She’d even asked the doctors, who said the chances of waking were extremely low, almost zero. It was for this reason she finally relaxed…
What a flawless plan! If Lu Sheng wakes up, everything will be ruined… She only has two days left to become Mrs. Lu… She can’t fail!
“If I had known, I should’ve made the accident more severe; better for her to die on the spot!”
Zhou Yanguan angrily grabbed a cup of water from the table and threw it out. She was furious, grinding her teeth. She had to think of a way to kill Lu Sheng—only a dead mouth could keep secrets!
Zhou Yanguan couldn’t sleep all night, constantly brainstorming.
At eight in the morning, a phone call from Yi Han startled her. “Hello…”
“Good morning, Miss Zhou. Mr. Lu asks you to come to the hospital at nine to visit Miss Lu with him.”
“Okay… Has Lu Sheng woken up?” Yi Han detected her unease.
“Not yet, but it should be in a day or two.”
Zhou Yanguan breathed a sigh of relief. She gently patted her chest. She’s still not awake; there’s still a chance!
At nine, she dressed elegantly, applying light makeup. Making Lu Chuan happy was still the priority.
Yi Han led her to Lu Sheng’s hospital room. Zhou Yanguan didn’t see Lu Chuan and felt a bit anxious. “Where’s Ah Ci? Where is he?”
“Don’t worry, Miss Zhou. Mr. Lu is in a meeting and will be here in half an hour. I’ll go take care of some things; just sit here for now.”
“Okay.”
Yi Han smiled and closed the door behind him. Zhou Yanguan looked at Lu Sheng, who lay in the hospital bed, her skin sickly pale, lips a faint pink, with normal vital signs beeping beside her.
Isn’t it better to stay asleep like this? Why wake up and ruin my good plans!
Zhou Yanguan glared at her viciously; if she weren’t afraid of being discovered, she would have choked her to death long ago!
Suddenly, the door opened, and a nurse walked in. Zhou Yanguan quickly turned around, forcing a stiff smile, and asked, “What’s this…?”
“I’m here to give Miss Lu an injection.” The nurse pushed the cart beside the bed and began preparing.
Zhou Yanguan, her heart racing, sat to the side, her palms sweating…
“Oh no!” the nurse exclaimed. “I grabbed the wrong medication!”
Zhou Yanguan quickly stood up, asking, “What happened? Is there a problem with this medicine?”
“Miss Lu is allergic to this medication; she injected it once before and almost caused a disaster! Thank goodness it’s okay!” The nurse patted her chest, comforting herself. “I’ll go get the right medication. Please keep an eye on this; no other nurses can come in to make a mistake!”
“Okay.” Zhou Yanguan nodded in agreement. After the nurse hurried out, she fixed her gaze on the small shringe.
“I think this might be a goo plan and no one can stop me.” Zhou Yanguan smiled evily.
