Chapter 16 – Wen Lingyue Solves the Puzzle: Traversing the Secret Room
“My goodness—”
Fu Xin finally relaxed, his tense body loosening as he held his aching chest and slowly sat down.
No, his heart couldn’t handle this kind of excitement.
The audience couldn’t handle it either.
The barrage of flying comments on the screen froze completely. Spectators outside the set could hardly help but want to kneel to Wen Lingyue—
Oh my heavens, is this even humanly
possible?!
Fu Xin sipped some hot water, puzzled: “A room escape can be played like this?!”
The crew, monitoring the data, replied: “Just now, with Wen Lingyue’s move, the live stream’s popularity literally doubled.”
Fu Xin’s eyes lit up, but he pressed his hand against his chest, muttering: “Forget it, I’d rather Wen Lingyue not pull off these kinds of flashy tricks.”
He was over forty—his heart couldn’t take it!
A crew member reassured him: “Don’t worry. From now on, all the locks are electronic. Wen Lingyue has to unlock them herself to leave.”
Let her obediently wait for the prince to save her.
Wen Lingyue, having landed, saw the electronic lock on the door and began searching for clues.
“Tick-tock, tick-tock.”
The clock ticked.
She found the hidden puzzle set up by the production team.
[Given: 1034 corresponds to 1853; 1119 corresponds to 1556; so, 1300 corresponds to what?]
After reading the question, Wen Lingyue went to the door and entered the four-digit number—[1205]
[Correct Password]
A digital beep sounded, and the door clicked open.
Wen Lingyue stepped out with effortless grace.
It took less than ten seconds to solve the puzzle.
The speed was so fast that neither the crew nor the audience could react in time.
Fu Xin stared at the live screen, his mind utterly blank—
“Wen Lingyue is out?!”
Just like that… she walked out so elegantly?!
The audience was stunned.
“What just happened?!”
“I haven’t even finished reading the puzzle, and she already entered the answer?!”
“This is a genius brain. Someone explain what just happened!”
Fu Xin wiped his face and issued instructions: “Quick! All camera angles, capture Wen Lingyue—I want to see her next move.”
Wen Lingyue strolled down the corridor as if wandering in her own garden, calm and leisurely.
Suddenly, a scream rang out ahead, followed by panicked footsteps. Wen Lingyue stopped as a fast-moving shadow barreled toward her.
She couldn’t dodge in time and was bumped twice. Then, a strong arm wrapped around her tightly: “Help!”
“…”
Wen Lingyue poked him: “Your life’s safe.”
In the darkness, Lin Rui weakly looked up, as if realizing something: “Sister Lingyue?”
“It’s me.”
“I was about to come rescue you,” Lin Rui said, surprised. “How did you get out? Did someone save you?”
Wen Lingyue smiled: “No, I walked out myself.”
“Ah?”
Lin Rui was confused.
The audience was laughing so hard their stomachs hurt.
“Confirmed—Wen Lingyue is right. Men can’t be relied on; the sister has to do it herself.”
“Wen Lingyue’s thoughts: If I relied on you, I might never get out of this room.”
Lin Rui brightened: “Perfect! Our mission’s done!”
We can go out!
Wen Lingyue smiled: “How about you let me go first?”
Lin Rui hurriedly released her, ears red: “Sorry, I was too nervous just now.”
“No worries.”
Wen Lingyue extended her hand to him.
Lin Rui froze, his face turning bright red.
Fu Xin, watching the live broadcast, held his breath—
Is the sweetest moment of the dating show about to happen?!
Under all the viewers’ expectant eyes, Wen Lingyue reached out, took the blue badge from Lin Rui’s left chest, and pinned it on herself.
Fu Xin: ?
Lin Rui: ?
The audience ready for drama: ? We’re half-naked here, and this is all we get?!
Perhaps seeing Lin Rui’s confusion, Wen Lingyue also removed her pink badge and handed it to him: “Wear this.”
Then, she walked forward.
Lin Rui stared at the pink badge in his hand for two seconds before obediently putting it on.
He caught up to Wen Lingyue: “Sister Lingyue, where are we going now?”
“To rescue the princess.”
Lin Rui stumbled: “This kind of thing… I should be the one doing it.”
Wen Lingyue stopped, glanced at him, said nothing, and continued forward.
Lin Rui stood frozen: “…”
Suddenly, his heart hurt.
Who understood him?
The audience was rolling with laughter.
“Wen Lingyue didn’t say anything, yet it felt like she said everything.”
“This isn’t a princess and her knight—it’s a boss and her subordinate.”
“A timid little puppy and a gentle, composed big sister? I’m obsessed.”
The corridor narrowed. Lin Rui hurried after her, timidly: “This place is scary.”
Wen Lingyue walked steadily, calm as ever.
Lin Rui, no longer caring about embarrassment, followed closely, constantly observing, wary of any danger.
“Hehe~”
A clear childlike voice rang out unexpectedly. The rough stone ceiling flickered with red light. Lin Rui silently moved closer to Wen Lingyue, one hand clutching her clothing.
Wen Lingyue looked around. Suddenly, countless dolls appeared. Behind the stone wall, a tall figure wearing a doll mask lunged at her.
“Ah—”
Lin Rui screamed, hugging Wen Lingyue.
Wen Lingyue covered her ears with one hand and, expressionless, addressed the doll figure: “Hello.”
The doll figure froze, baring teeth. Its blood-stained mask in the flickering red light was extremely eerie.
Wen Lingyue remained calm and nodded at it.
Doll figure: “…”
No scared players allowed—get out! Get out!
In a rough, devilish voice, it growled: “It’s you who disturbed my sleep?”
“Yes.”
Wen Lingyue ran to the next clue: “Where’s the other princess?”
Doll figure: “…”
I have a process! Do you know that?!
“Brave knights, step forward. Complete my trial, and you will receive the princess’s clue.”
Wen Lingyue stepped forward.
Lin Rui stayed put.
The doll figure repeated: “Brave knights, step forward.”
Wen Lingyue expressionlessly pointed to the blue badge on her chest.
Doll figure: ?
It looked at Lin Rui.
The 1.8-meter Lin Rui was wearing a pink badge.
“…”
Silence filled the nighttime secret room.
The doll figure stepped aside: “Proceed, brave knight!”
Then it vanished.
Wen Lingyue moved forward; a checkpoint lit up ahead.
[First Stage: Testing the Knight’s Physical Ability]
Double-sided glass walls were covered with red dots. If the dots were touched incorrectly, beams of red light shot out, forming a laser grid.
The lights gave Lin Rui courage. He lifted his head: “Looks like we need to cross this corridor without touching the red lasers.”
He volunteered: “I’ll go first.”
After his earlier embarrassment, he wanted to perform well.
Lin Rui tiptoed, twisted his body, and made exaggerated expressions to avoid the lasers.
Wen Lingyue’s lips twitched slightly, but she silently stepped forward.
Her core was strong, her body flexible. She easily avoided the dense laser grid, moving with the same effortless composure.
Lin Rui, exerting every muscle: “…”
Seeing Wen Lingyue cross the laser field, Lin Rui shouted: “Sister Lingyue, wait for me!”
Wen Lingyue stopped.
After a while, Lin Rui crossed the lasers, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and reached her side.
