Chapter 20: Heart-Throbbing Mutual Selection Segment
Wen Lingyue and Pei Jingli worked together and quickly climbed the pillar, escaping the secret room.
On the other side, Jiang Yurou was almost pressed against Zhou Huailang, panting heavily.
The audience couldn’t help but react.
[They’re both dancers, but Jiang Yurou is so much worse than Wen Lingyue!]
[After all, one’s a champion, the other is dead last.]
Yu Yan and Lin Rui were the first to escape the secret room, followed by Jiang Yurou and Zhou Huailang, and finally He Ran and Li Qingqing.
“So tired.”
He Ran wiped the sweat from his forehead and saw Wen Lingyue and Pei Jingli already seated, enjoying tea. He curled his lips: “You two are so relaxed.”
Wen Lingyue glanced at him, her gaze cold.
He Ran immediately fell silent. He couldn’t shake the feeling that Wen Lingyue’s look was… strange.
“Bang!”
Fireworks exploded.
Director Fu Xin smiled brightly: “Congratulations, everyone, for successfully rescuing the princess!”
“The production team has prepared a lavish dinner for you all. Please enjoy!”
The group moved to a new location. Behind the castle stood a romantic villa.
Lin Rui sighed: “So, this isn’t really a secret room, right?”
“Of course not.”
Fu Xin opened the villa’s doors. The dining table was filled with sumptuous dishes. After everyone finished dinner, Fu Xin appeared again.
“After the secret room challenge, I believe everyone has gained some understanding of each other.”
“Now, is there someone you’d like to know more about… or someone who’s already made your heart skip a beat?”
Fu Xin pulled out eight magnetic stickers shaped like hearts, each printed with a guest’s portrait. He handed them to the eight participants.
Wen Lingyue received the sticker with her own portrait—her in a flowing gown, dancing gracefully.
“This is the Heart-Throbbing Bulletin Board. Each guest’s name is on it.”
Fu Xin pushed the board forward and looked at the eight participants: “If you want to get to know someone, or like someone, place your portrait behind their name.”
As soon as he said this, the atmosphere grew tense.
The live audience widened their eyes in excitement.
[How is this different from publicly showing your feelings?!]
[It’s started! Who will Wen Lingyue choose?]
In the dining room, Pei Jingli and Lin Rui stood up at the same time and walked to the board.
Lin Rui looked at Pei Jingli, gripping his sticker tightly: “Who are you placing yours on?”
Slap.
Without hesitation, Pei Jingli placed his sticker. Behind Wen Lingyue’s name, a small blue figure appeared.
Lin Rui paused for a few seconds, muttered, and then placed his sticker behind Wen Lingyue’s name as well.
He chose Wen Lingyue too!
The tension skyrocketed.
Jiang Yurou sneaked a glance at Wen Lingyue.
Wen Lingyue leaned back slightly in her chair, her expression calm and unreadable.
Jiang Yurou bit her lip and glanced at Zhou Huailang.
Zhou Huailang stared blankly at the board, lost in thought.
“Huailang?” Jiang Yurou called.
Zhou Huailang snapped out of it, walked to the board, glanced at Wen Lingyue’s column briefly, hesitated for a moment, and then placed his sticker behind Jiang Yurou’s name.
Jiang Yurou’s face lit up with a sweet smile.
Next was He Ran; he chose Yu Yan.
He was an actor who had starred in a few dramas over the years, never really famous. Yu Yan, with her striking appearance and long-standing fame in the entertainment industry, was perfect for him.
After choosing, He Ran returned to his seat.
Wen Lingyue gave him a brief glance before looking away.
The audience began speculating.
[Wen Lingyue looked at He Ran several times—could she like him?]
[Doesn’t seem like it, though she is paying attention to him.]
Fu Xin noticed too and stroked his chin.
He Ran had a steady aura and wasn’t unattractive, but compared to Pei Jingli and Lin Rui, he was slightly inferior. As for feelings—who knew? Could Wen Lingyue like this type?
While pondering, Yu Yan stood up. Fu Xin focused on her.
He thought: If He Ran chose Yu Yan, would Yu Yan choose He Ran?
His mind raced: “If both mutually choose each other, there will be a special surprise reward.”
Yu Yan ignored this and scanned the four male participants’ names, then fixed her gaze on Wen Lingyue’s column.
There were already two small figure stickers there.
Yu Yan stared too long. Fu Xin suddenly had a bad feeling: “Yu Yan—”
Slap!
Yu Yan placed her sticker with flair, cutting off Fu Xin mid-sentence.
“Cough cough—”
Lin Rui choked on his drink.
Pei Jingli’s expression shifted slightly.
The entire room froze. The production team was dumbfounded.
The audience was shocked—Yu Yan had placed her sticker behind Wen Lingyue’s name!
What’s going on?! Could Yu Yan like Wen Lingyue?!
Wen Lingyue’s gaze finally shifted, looking at Yu Yan.
Yu Yan smiled at her, charming and fiery.
The audience erupted, everyone on their feet:
[I declare Yu-Yue CP is real!]
[This isn’t just a crush, it’s something else!]
[Don’t move, I’m bringing the civil affairs office over!]
“You…”
Fu Xin felt this reality show was heading in a direction he had never imagined and quickly said: “Yu Yan! It’s a male-female mutual selection!”
Yu Yan looked innocent: “You didn’t say it had to be male-female before.”
Did you hear that? What nonsense!
Fu Xin nearly spat blood.
This is a dating show! A dating show!
Did the male-female mutual selection even need him to say it?!
Yu Yan: “I chose Wen Lingyue because…”
“Because you want to get to know her and develop a friendship with her.”
Fu Xin cut her off immediately, afraid she would say something outrageous in public.
Yu Yan shrugged, not arguing.
Fu Xin finally felt some relief and looked at the remaining three female participants: “Your turn to choose.”
Jiang Yurou chose Zhou Huailang.
Li Qingqing hesitated briefly, then chose He Ran.
As for Wen Lingyue, she stepped up to the bulletin board.
All eyes followed her, even those watching the live broadcast, holding their breath, waiting for her next move.
Pei Jingli’s back tensed subtly, a rare flicker of nervousness showing.
Lin Rui suddenly spoke: “Yueyue, I’m your little princess.”
Yu Yan was not to be outdone: “Choose me! Choose me! Let’s stick together!”
Wen Lingyue: “……”
Fu Xin’s eyes flared, teeth clenched: “You cannot choose the same gender.”
“Got it.”
Wen Lingyue’s gaze paused at He Ran’s column: “I choose—”
The sticker fell.
“Me.”
Instantly, the room went silent.
Pei Jingli was stunned, helplessly holding his forehead with his right hand.
Lin Rui blinked, eyes wide like an innocent dog, dumbfounded—
Can someone really do this?
The audience, full of anticipation, was shocked—
Wen Lingyue chose herself?!
[An unprecedented perspective!]
[Wen Lingyue, the master of avoiding love battles!]
[If I were Wen Lingyue, I’d choose myself too—I love myself the most!]
Fu Xin pressed on his aching chest: “Wen Lingyue, you can’t—”
Wen Lingyue sat down, her expression calm as she looked on.
Fu Xin forced a smile: “You can’t choose yourself.”
“You didn’t say that before?” Wen Lingyue looked innocent.
Fu Xin: “……”
Next time, he would make the rules crystal clear!
No choosing the same gender! No choosing yourself!
No one can try to cheat!
