Shi Han glanced down at the back of Bai Wanjun’s hand and stepped back with a look of disdain.
With a flick of her wrist, she slid the suitcase to the other side of her body.
Bai Wanjun’s hand froze midair, her forced smile nearly slipping away.
That stubborn girl—was she determined to make the family life unbearable?
Shi Han ignored Bai Wanjun’s embarrassment. She no longer wanted anything to do with the Shi family.
Taking two steps toward Shi Bei, she looked up seriously at her grandfather and asked, “Are you the one in charge of this family?”
“Of course!” Shi Bei placed his hands behind his back, smiling warmly at his granddaughter.
He carefully examined Shi Han, who he hadn’t seen in two years.
She was dressed plainly, her face gaunt from hunger, and she hadn’t brought any of the jewelry he had specially picked out.
She must be upset that he hadn’t reached out to her these past two years.
It was all because his body was failing him, leaving him confined to his sickbed.
The only comfort he had was knowing that the little girl’s parents had wronged her too much, but whenever they met, they always got along peacefully.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to rest easy.
Shi Bei asked, “What does the little girl need?”
“In a while, I’ll need to use the family’s household registration book.”
“Use it then, use it,” he waved it off without much concern.
“Thank you,” Shi Han bowed slightly.
She wasn’t sure what kind of relationship she truly had with her grandfather, but this whole family was a mess—she didn’t want to be involved with them any longer.
If it was forgotten, then fine—she didn’t want to think about it anymore.
Shi Han grabbed her suitcase and started to leave.
“…” Shi Bei was momentarily caught off guard.
Where does she think she’s going?
The old master instinctively grabbed Shi Han’s suitcase.
Shi Han didn’t pull it away, but turned to see Shi Bei bending down, looking up at her like a big bear cub.
The sternness he had just moments ago was gone, replaced by a surprisingly tender, almost adorable expression and posture.
Shi Han said, “…Let go.”
“No!” Shi Bei shook his head anxiously. “What’s going on? Why are you leaving just after you got back?”
“Yeah, why leave so soon after coming back?” Bai Wanjun hurriedly scolded a nearby servant, afraid Shi Han might say something she shouldn’t. “Get the young lady’s suitcase upstairs, now!”
Father Shi chimed in, “Yes, yes, quickly take the miss’s luggage upstairs.”
Shi Yin clenched her teeth. Everyone knew Grandpa spoiled Shi Han.
This sudden act was obviously a calculated move—a “play hard to get” tactic.
Maybe Grandpa was even called here by Shi Han herself—otherwise, how could he suddenly show up from his recuperation place?
No matter how resentful Shi Yin felt inside, she knew the current situation was against her, so she stepped closer toward Shi Han as well.
Suddenly, Shi Han was surrounded—everyone had one clear goal: to grab her suitcase.
Bai Wanjun cooed, “Hanhan~ come on, give your suitcase to Mom. You must be hungry. I’ll bring your food up to your room. You just got back, anything you want, just tell Mom.”
Father Shi added, “Need money? I’ll transfer half a million to your account. Spend it all, then come back for more.”
Shi Yin chimed in, “Sister, I just learned a new dish. I’ll cook it for you later, okay?”
“…” Shi Han felt the air closing in on her. She closed her eyes and rubbed her forehead.
Just then, Bai Wanjun grabbed the back of Shi Han’s other hand. Seeing that Shi Han was still holding tight to the suitcase, she forcefully pried it from her grip.
Shi Han’s eyes snapped open. She faced the crowd and shouted, “Everyone, get lost!”
She rarely cursed or spoke so bluntly, even in conflicts. This was the first time she told people to “get lost” so directly.
