The woman in the red dress, who had been following the middle-aged man, finally came to her senses. She gritted her teeth and walked toward him.
She was attractive, or else no man would be willing to buy her a villa.
The middle-aged man’s earlier behavior had been nothing short of a slap in the face.
She shot Shi Han a glare. Though irritated, she couldn’t deny that the young woman not far away had an undeniably beautiful face, especially at such a young age.
Even if she was about to be discarded, she had to get something out of this—she couldn’t have wasted all that time with him for nothing.
She looped her arm around the middle-aged man’s and pouted, pointing at a villa. “Darling, I have my eye on that one.”
The man awkwardly shook off her arm and walked back toward Shi Han.
“Little girl…”
“Please stop following me.” Shi Han’s face turned completely cold.
The woman in the red dress was fuming, her eyes burning red as she stormed over in her towering heels. Gritting her teeth, she spat, “What are you pretending for? Didn’t you come here just to hook up with men?”
The people secretly watching from around them finally found an excuse — now they could openly fix their eyes on the three.
The middle-aged man tugged at the woman’s arm. “What are you doing? Get back here.”
“What am I doing?” The woman in red yanked her arm free, pointing straight at Shi Han. “Look at you — carrying steamed buns, wearing clothes that cost no more than two hundred yuan, coming here to look at apartments all dressed up. Don’t tell me you’re not here to seduce men?”
Shi Han’s expression didn’t change. She lifted her eyes slightly. “I think you’ve misunderstood. I’m just here to buy an apartment. And no — I don’t share your particular taste.”
“You? Buy an apartment? Do you even have the money?”
“I have more than enough,” Shi Han replied calmly.
The woman in red let out a sharp laugh. “Oh, that’s rich. If you can afford an apartment here, I’ll drop to my knees and knock my head on the ground three times in front of everyone.”
“Three kowtows, huh?” Shi Han tilted her head slightly, her gaze shifting to the middle-aged man. Smiling, she said, “Why don’t you join her? Make a bet yourself.”
Her eyes grew colder. Compared to the aggressive woman, Shi Han found the middle-aged man’s leering gaze even more disgusting.
The man chuckled, squinting. “What’s the point of betting on something like this?”
“If you’re not betting, fine. I don’t have time to waste on you two. Just stay away from me.”
“Oh, what a convenient excuse.” The woman in red sneered, seeing Shi Han still looking at the model display. Thinking Shi Han was backing down, she folded her arms. “I know exactly what you’re up to — playing innocent just because you’re young. Go on, prove me wrong if you can!”
“Why would I need to prove anything to you?”
Clown. Shi Han didn’t even lift her head. She calmly reviewed the details and decided on a villa at the foot of the mountain.
Maybe it was because of that car accident two years ago — she no longer liked driving. Buying a place at the top of the mountain would mean hiring a driver, and that was just too much hassle.
Just as Shi Han was about to swipe her card and pay in full, a familiar low voice drifted over from nearby. She lifted her head.
A wealthy woman draped in gold jewelry lounged on the sofa, her heavyset figure spilling over the cushions. Gold rings gleamed on her fingers as she crossed her right leg, making no effort to lower her voice. “What’s there to be shy about? In the end, it’s we women who get the short end of the stick. If you spend one night with me, I’ll buy this villa on the spot — your commission will be at least a hundred grand, right?”
“No.”
The young man kept his head down, dressed in a cheap suit, his thin lips pressed into a tight line.
Shi Han instantly recognized him — it was the same young man who’d bumped into her at the airport that day.
The rich woman’s face darkened. She slammed the contract down on the coffee table. “Are you trying to throw away your commission?”
Shi Han: …Is this really something you should be negotiating in public?
Seriously? Things like this still happen these days?
Shi Han glanced at the middle-aged man edging toward her again, barely holding back the urge to lash out.
Actually… yeah, things like this probably did still happen. There were plenty of ordinary people out there with that kind of blind confidence.
Nearby, a few female sales agents whispered among themselves.
“This is too much. So what if she has money?”
“You don’t know — Lu Yan’s grandma is in a coma, and the medical bills are massive. That woman’s been hanging around here for days. I think…”
“That’s awful. And to use his commission as leverage? I heard if he refuses, that rich woman’s planning to file a complaint to get him fired.”
…
So, his name is Lu Yan.
