Chapter 29: I Don’t Mind Sewing Your Mouth Shut
Fang Mianmian finally shut up—completely, giving up on communicating with the two of them.
She finally realized—neither of them was normal. If she kept arguing, she’d only end up hurting herself.
Just thinking about it made her angry.
If she had known Jiang Yunhe was this difficult to deal with, she should’ve acted sooner—killed her, even!
Why wait until now?
Chu Peihan, having once been a soldier, had a sharp instinct for danger. Seeing the malicious look on Fang Mianmian’s face, he immediately grew wary.
With him around, there was no way he’d let Jiang Yunhe suffer.
“Yunhe, some people look weak and harmless on the outside, but they’re full of bad intentions. You have to be careful. Don’t fall for it. Don’t get too entangled with people like that—if you end up getting hurt, it’s not worth it.”
“Mhm.” Jiang Yunhe chuckled. She hadn’t expected this side of Chu Peihan. Not only was he sharp-tongued, but he was also incredibly perceptive.
Watching Fang Mianmian’s face shift from pale to green was immensely satisfying.
Serves her right.
Can’t handle it now?
In her past life, Fang Mianmian schemed against her again and again, showing no mercy—never sparing her any dignity.
Now…
It was her turn to suffer.
“Peihan, you too—this world is full of temptations. Don’t get blinded. Always remember where your home is.”
“Shameless!” Fang Mianmian ground her teeth in rage. “He may want to look, but too bad—he’s blind! And you—wasn’t one Wang Tiejiang enough? Now you’re messing with another blind man? Jiang Yunhe, is that all you amount to?”
She didn’t really care who Jiang Yunhe married.
She just didn’t want her to be happy. She wanted her stuck in the village forever, never stepping foot outside.
Jiang Yunhe’s gaze turned cold. She shot a sharp look at her. “Fang Mianmian, if you spout nonsense one more time, I don’t mind sewing your mouth shut myself.”
She wasn’t joking.
Fang Mianmian’s expression darkened. She was unwilling, but said nothing more. She refused to believe Jiang Yunhe could be lucky every single time.
She’d like to see what the two of them were planning!
Behind them, Brother Wang cracked his bullwhip so hard it nearly sparked. Damn, if anything really went down, he’d be caught in the mess too.
Nope. Not worth it.
Better get them to their destination fast. After that, whatever they do has nothing to do with him.
What was supposed to be an hour’s journey was forcefully cut down to just half an hour. The moment the city gate came into view, Brother Wang let out a deep sigh of relief.
Thank goodness!
As soon as the cart stopped, he started chasing them off.
“Xiaohan, I’ll be back around 5 p.m. If you two need a ride, wait here for me—same spot as usual.”
“Alright. Thank you,” Chu Peihan replied warmly, his tone polite and respectful—nothing like the man who had just threatened Fang Mianmian in the cart.
Fang Mianmian felt disgusted watching them—just a pair of hypocrites, great at pretending.
She sneered, said nothing, and turned to leave.
Jiang Yunhe rolled her eyes silently, thanked Brother Wang, and then grabbed Chu Peihan to walk off quickly, determined to leave Fang Mianmian behind.
She was just too annoying.
But Fang Mianmian narrowed her eyes and quickly caught up.
Hearing the footsteps, Jiang Yunhe looked back, annoyed. “Why are you following us, Fang Mianmian? Got nowhere else to go?”
Fang Mianmian responded righteously, “The road’s public. I walk where I want. Am I blocking you?”
Jiang Yunhe: “Fine. You go ahead.”
She knew Fang Mianmian was up to no good.
She could bet this woman was tagging along just to cause trouble.
Fang Mianmian looked a little embarrassed for once, her face turning red with suppressed anger.
Her expression was ugly.
Jiang Yunhe smirked. Perfect. If she was uncomfortable, then Jiang Yunhe was satisfied. After all, she had been reborn—why let her enemy live happily?
She wasn’t exactly a pushover.
Chu Peihan tentatively reached out and ruffled her hair. Seeing her in a good mood, he didn’t stop her. Jiang Yunhe had full freedom with him—she could do whatever she wanted.
And if she felt like beating Fang Mianmian up?
Well, he’d help. No questions asked.
Jiang Yunhe didn’t ignore him. Instead, she whispered in his ear, “Peihan, I’m telling you—there’s nothing more vicious than a jealous woman. You’d better stay alert.”
Chu Peihan: “……”
Got it.
She really never missed a chance to warn him.
How to describe this feeling…
Jiang Yunhe was terrified he’d be fooled. She wanted to dump everything she knew into his brain, especially about Fang Mianmian.
Unfortunately, this was a society ruled by law—killing someone wasn’t so simple anymore.
It would cause big problems.
Jiang Yunhe was irritated, but managed to keep calm. One step at a time.
Let the bait linger to catch the big fish.
Besides, if she killed Fang Mianmian now—what fun would she have later?
Chu Peihan didn’t quite understand her anxiety, but quickly said, “Let’s go deal with your errands first. Mine can wait.”
Jiang Yunhe: “Alright. Sounds good.”
She needed to exchange some money.
Too bad it was already past noon. The morning market was long over. If it had still been open, she could’ve just sold some vegetables and saved herself the trouble.
Chu Peihan breathed a quiet sigh of relief when she agreed.
He really didn’t want to go to the hospital. That place gave him the creeps. Besides, what was the point of dragging her along to deal with something hopeless?
He even considered getting someone to write a fake “terminal illness” diagnosis.
Then at least, they wouldn’t have to worry anymore.
Fang Mianmian, eavesdropping with ears perked, found their conversation ridiculous.
Ha! Jiang Yunhe, run errands? What could she possibly handle?
She couldn’t do anything right.
Her steps faltered. After a second’s hesitation, she turned her foot and tried to follow again.
But Chu Peihan and Jiang Yunhe were too sharp. They immediately noticed her movement.
The annoyance was clear.
With this clingy nuisance tagging along, it was hard to do anything at all.
Jiang Yunhe’s eyes gleamed. She had planned to let it slide, but since Fang Mianmian was asking for it…
She didn’t mind using the opportunity to teach her a lesson.
She grabbed Chu Peihan’s hand and quickly traced a few words on his palm.
