Chapter 39: Will You Die If You Don’t Sow Discord?
She didn’t want them anymore.
Whether she had this kind of family or not—what difference did it make?
Jiang Yunhe’s eyes were cold, and her aura gradually turned icy. The aggressive air she had just shown while beating someone was gone. She had originally intended to get married from this house.
After all, that would have been proof that she had changed the course of her fate from her previous life!
But now, it no longer mattered.
Fang Mianmian panicked. She didn’t bother faking tears anymore and rushed over. “Xiao He, what are you talking about? Family is family—how can you just say you don’t want them? That’s not right!”
Jiang Yunhe: “……”
Finally, she speaks!
She had been silent the whole time, just watching the show. Jiang Yunhe almost thought Fang Mianmian had fallen asleep.
Fang Mianmian looked a bit embarrassed but continued, “I don’t blame you for what happened today. It wasn’t intentional… but as a girl, you should still follow your parents’ orders and matchmaker’s words. You and Chu Peihan—this won’t be allowed by the family.”
Her posture and expression practically screamed green tea btch*—absolutely classic.
Jiang Yunhe rolled her eyes hard. “Will you die if you don’t sow discord? If you’re going to instigate something, at least make it worthwhile. These useless people—you think I care about them?”
At this point, she couldn’t believe Fang Mianmian still thought the Jiang family could control her. What a joke.
Fang Mianmian probably knew her manipulations wouldn’t work, but she couldn’t just watch Jiang Yunhe break away from the family. Otherwise, she’d lose all control.
Sun Meilin finally reacted too. To be honest, she was quite happy to send Jiang Yunhe away—she didn’t want to see her around anymore.
But after hearing Fang Mianmian’s words, she changed her mind.
Suppressing her anger, she started to persuade:
“Xiao… Jiang Yunhe, what’s this nonsense about cutting ties? Don’t even think about it.”
“Why not?” Jiang Yunhe felt something was off. Things had escalated to this point, yet they still wanted her to stay?
Who would believe there wasn’t some hidden agenda?
But she couldn’t figure out what it was.
Clearly, they weren’t going to explain. They just hoped Jiang Yunhe would stay ignorant—the dumber she was, the easier to manipulate.
Jiang Dazhuang was the first to speak: “Why else? You’re our daughter, flesh and blood. How could we possibly harm you?”
Jiang Yunhe: “So, you’re not letting me go, huh?”
She grabbed at her hair, messing it up, then suddenly bolted outside!
No one in the courtyard reacted in time. Jiang Yunhe deliberately ran to where there were lots of people, crying loudly and miserably as she ran.
From the way she looked, you’d think she had suffered unimaginable abuse.
Fang Mianmian froze, then quickly led everyone to chase after her. No matter what, they had to catch her. If nothing else, locking her in the cellar would do.
As long as she didn’t marry Chu Peihan and stayed in the Jiang family, it was enough.
“Don’t hit me! Don’t kill me! I’ll do whatever you say—Father, Mother, I’ve done everything you asked for all these years. Isn’t that enough?!”
“Help! Somebody help me! I’m going to die!”
“……”
Changshou Village had never seen anything like this. Gossip popped up almost daily now, and judging by the sound, it was Jiang Yunhe again. Everyone in the village knew her.
The Jiang family abused her all the time—shameless to the extreme.
Before long, villagers started pouring out.
Sun Meilin came out holding a hemp rope, intending to tie Jiang Yunhe up and drag her home. No way was she going to let her get away easily.
Jiang Yunhe’s face was full of panic. This time, she didn’t run to the village head’s house. She went straight to the home of the highly respected Third Aunt, who was known for reading fortunes and curing illnesses.
So in the village—her words held weight!
Li Daniu had already been bought off by Fang Mianmian, so she couldn’t rely on him. Who knew if he was part of their scheme?
But Third Aunt… Zhao Guixiang…
Jiang Yunhe ran like the wind, dragging the Jiang family around in circles. Once she saw that most of the village had come out, she sprinted straight to Zhao Guixiang’s front door.
Thud!!!
She fell to her knees.
Zhao Guixiang heard the noise and came out, only to find Jiang Yunhe—this poor girl she had watched grow up—kneeling at her doorstep. Her expression changed instantly.
The child had always been obedient and kind, never caused trouble.
She quickly rushed to help her up.
“Child, what’s going on? Speak properly.”
“Third Aunt… my mother, they want to kill me. They said they’d tie me up and send me to the Wang family. Please, save me!”
“What?!” Zhao Guixiang’s anger erupted. What kind of nonsense was this—tying someone up and selling them—in this day and age?!
Sun Meilin and the others arrived just in time to witness the scene.
Everyone looked at each other, completely stunned.
Behind them, the villagers of Changshou Village gathered, forming a massive crowd. It looked just like a movie screening—everyone was here, men, women, young and old.
A true spectacle!
The Jiang family stood there, aggressive and hostile, while Jiang Yunhe stood alone.
No need to say more—anyone with eyes could see who the victim was. Just look at her—she ran so hard her shoe fell off.
Li Daniu arrived a little later and squeezed through the crowd. The moment he saw Fang Mianmian standing there, his face darkened.
Seriously? When does it end?
He had already suffered enough humiliation during the Wang Tiejiang incident. And now this?
What was he supposed to do?
Fang Mianmian’s eyes lit up when she saw him. This really needed the village head to resolve—otherwise, people might fall for Jiang Yunhe’s act.
However, Li Daniu didn’t even look at her. After glancing once, he immediately averted his eyes and acted as if she didn’t exist.
Zhao Guixiang was fuming. She pulled Jiang Yunhe behind her protectively and glared around the crowd until her gaze landed on Jiang Dazhuang.
“Dazhuang, what a great father you’ve become!”
“I…” Jiang Dazhuang rarely looked this awkward. He forced himself to speak. “Third Aunt, this is a misunderstanding. Let me take the girl back, and I’ll come explain it to you later.”
“In your dreams!” Zhao Guixiang had no intention of giving him face. Even Li Daniu had to bow and scrape around her.
He wanted to bully someone right in front of her? Delusional.
Jiang Dazhuang’s expression grew uglier, and he grew more resentful of Jiang Yunhe. Damn girl—if not for her, things wouldn’t have blown up like this.
Now look what happened—how was he supposed to clean up this mess?
He should’ve locked her up earlier. Then none of this trouble would’ve happened. Now, thanks to her, he had to embarrass himself in front of the whole village.
