The Reborn Empress Plans to Rebel Chapter 65

Chapter 65: The Old Man’s Ultimate Trick, Crying, Throwing Tantrums, and Threatening to Hang Himself

At night, Tang Mi once again wrapped herself in a cloak and carried a food box as she went down the mountain. She entered the old temple like she knew the way by heart.

“Girl, you finally came!” Seeing Tang Mi, the listless Guixi instantly perked up and hurried over.

“You really were waiting for me here,” Tang Mi glanced at him, then sat down by the fire with the food box.

Guixi happily followed, wagging his tail. “We agreed yesterday, of course the old man would be waiting for you here.”

Tang Mi took out a plate of assorted vegetarian dishes, a basket of buns, and a bowl of mushroom soup from the box and started eating.

Seeing Tang Mi had made so many delicious things, Guixi couldn’t help swallowing his saliva.

Seeing his eager face, Tang Mi handed him a bun.

“Hey~” Guixi happily took it and swallowed it in two bites, his eyes shining, “So good, Really good~”

This little girl’s cooking skills were really impressive!

“Slow down, there’s plenty more, no one’s competing with you,” Tang Mi warned, then brought him a bowl of mushroom soup.

Guixi gulped down several mouthfuls, and instantly felt completely refreshed, as if newly reborn: “This soup is amazing, incredibly delicious! Girl, your cooking is hundreds of times better than those imperial chefs.”

Tang Mi smiled and looked at him: “Did you sneak into the imperial kitchen to steal some?”

Knowing Guixi’s greedy nature, this was totally possible.

Feeling caught, Guixi’s face turned red in embarrassment but he still proudly said, “If the old man wanted imperial meals, would he need to steal? Not bragging, but whenever I want imperial food, which emperor wouldn’t be begging me to eat?”

Tang Mi raised an eyebrow but said nothing. That was true, Guixi was a divine doctor, and with his miraculous medical skills, emperors would indeed cater to him. But knowing Guixi’s lazy nature, it was probably easier for him to sneak into the kitchen than to make a big fuss.

“Girl, if you want to eat imperial meals, the old man will take you,” Guixi said with a flattering tone.

Tang Mi curled her lip disdainfully: “You just said mine’s better than imperial food, so why would I eat theirs?”

She’d had enough of imperial cuisine a long time ago!

Guixi was momentarily stunned but then laughed, “That’s true, your skills are definitely better than those big chefs.”

He then sneakily grabbed another bun from the basket.

Tang Mi didn’t get annoyed and even pushed the vegetarian dish toward him.

“Generous girl!” Guixi praised her, then started devouring the food, nodding vigorously: “This vegetarian dish is incredible, the best vegetable dish I’ve ever eaten!”

“So delicious!” Guixi happily ate the vegetarian buns with the dishes, drinking soup when he choked, feeling utterly content and fulfilled.

After eating one bun, Tang Mi stopped eating and watched Guixi eat and drink.

Guixi was always like this, whenever he found something delicious, he forgot everything else and ignored the serious stuff.

“Burp~” After finishing all the food Tang Mi made, Guixi patted his round belly contentedly.

“Oh right!” Guixi suddenly slapped his forehead, almost forgetting the serious matter. “Girl, you said the divine doctor in your dream taught you medicine, did you learn it?”

“Of course! I’m a divine doctor now,” Tang Mi said proudly.

Guixi listened to Tang Mi’s boast and didn’t find it ridiculous at all. Instead, he felt she might really mean it.

Guixi’s eyes flickered as he looked at Tang Mi expectantly: “Girl, I’ll take you somewhere.”

“No!” Tang Mi refused without a second thought.

“Come on, if you don’t go, the old man won’t be able to rest in peace,” Guixi started to whine.

Tang Mi was speechless: “Don’t you have any other tricks?”

Guixi looked pitiful: “Will you go or not? If not, the old man will die right now and show you.”

Guixi then seriously tried to smash his head against a pillar.

Tang Mi twitched at the corner of her eye but finally gave in, grabbing Guixi: “I have only one condition, we have to be back before dawn.”

If they were late, it would give them away.

“No problem,” Guixi happily agreed and immediately took Tang Mi out.

Guixi was highly skilled in martial arts, so they neither rode horses nor took a carriage. He carried Tang Mi as they headed toward the capital city.

From the shadows, Ye Chenxuan followed closely, worried.

When they arrived at the City God Temple in the northern part of the capital, Guixi put Tang Mi down.

“Why bring me here?” Tang Mi looked puzzled.

“This is where all the beggars in the capital gather. Since you know medicine, you should heal the beggars here,” Guixi wanted to see how good Tang Mi’s medical skills really were, and also to see if the immortal in her dream was really him.

“Why should I listen to you?” Tang Mi didn’t want to show herself. Her medical skills were a secret weapon she didn’t want others to know about.

“Girl, just try it. The old man wants to see your skills. If you don’t go, the old man won’t be able to rest even if he dies,” Guixi wailed, sneaking glances at Tang Mi. “If you don’t try, the old man will die right now!”

Guixi picked up a brick from the ground, ready to hit his own head with it.

Tang Mi gave a helpless sigh, took a handkerchief from her pocket to cover her face, and entered the City God Temple.

Guixi, seeing Tang Mi go in, immediately chuckled to himself.

Though this girl always had a serious face, she was soft-hearted and especially fell for this trick.

Guixi felt he’d found the perfect way to get Tang Mi to do what he wanted. He threw down the brick and followed eagerly.

Because it was still early in the night, many beggars resting at the City God Temple hadn’t gone to sleep yet. Seeing Tang Mi enter, they all watched her warily.

Tang Mi was actually a little scared; she had never come to such a crowded place so late before. But knowing Guixi was behind her, she wasn’t so afraid.

“Ahem…” Tang Mi cleared her throat lightly and looked at the still-awake beggars. “I am a divine doctor. If anyone is feeling unwell, come see me. I will diagnose you.”

Hearing her claim, none of the beggars believed her, they thought she was just here to mock them.

Only Guixi, trailing behind her, laughed quietly at her confident words.

Such a cute girl, who knows where she’s from?

After waiting a while and seeing no one respond, Tang Mi felt a little embarrassed.

“Ahem…” Hearing coughing from a corner, Tang Mi walked over.

In the innermost corner of the temple, a mother and child were curled up. The mother was coughing incessantly, and the child kept patting her back, refusing to sleep.

The mother was covered in dirt and grime, her face barely visible. Tang Mi guessed she was probably not very old, judging from the child who looked only five or six years old.

From the mother’s coughs, it seemed she was quite ill.

Tang Mi squatted down, intending to feel her pulse, but the child suddenly stood up alertly, blocking his mother: “What do you want to do?
