Chapter 3
After a heart-wrenching scream, Ji Nuannuan suddenly woke up, her mind echoing with the last thing Fu Jinghan said before being hit—
“Nuannuan, in the next life, come find me.”
Her eyes welled with tears.
Muttering under her breath, she whispered, “Fu Jinghan… you shouldn’t have come.”
“Oh? I shouldn’t have come? Wei Yang should’ve come instead?”
A chilling voice suddenly sounded in her ear.
That voice… Fu Jinghan?
Had they both died and gone to heaven?
How nice… even in death, she could see Fu Jinghan again.
Wait a minute…
Why did heaven look exactly like her bedroom in Four Seasons Warmth?
Four Seasons Warmth was the home she and Fu Jinghan shared. He was the one who named it—saying that it wasn’t home unless Ji Nuannuan was there.
Ji Nuannuan, still in shock, turned toward the familiar figure beside her, completely stunned.
Her lips trembled for a long while before she could form a word. Her eyes stared blankly at the man in front of her.
“Fu Jinghan… you!…”
She couldn’t believe it—just moments ago, they had both been engulfed in flames. And now, Fu Jinghan stood before her, completely safe and sound.
“Ji Nuannuan, do you really hate being in this house so much? Do you hate being by my side this much?”
“Or is it that you’re so desperate to see Wei Yang, you’d risk your life for it?!”
His cool, detached voice was laced with deep sorrow.
“Let me tell you, Ji Nuannuan—leaving me? Don’t even think about it!”
Before Ji Nuannuan could react, Fu Jinghan threw down those words and left the room.
Only Ji Nuannuan was left in the room. She looked dazed and confused, staring around at the familiar surroundings before finally realizing—
She had been reborn!?
Or… was everything she just experienced a dream?
But if it was a dream, it felt too real.
She slowly got up, her body still weak, and searched the bed thoroughly.
Pulling out her phone from under the pillow, she looked at the calendar.
Sure enough—she had returned to the first year of her marriage with Fu Jinghan.
Looking down at the thick bandage on her wrist, she immediately remembered everything that had happened on this day in her previous life.
The memories were unforgettable.
Today was the day she had hurt herself after listening to Ji Xinxin’s poisonous words.
Back then, Ji Xinxin told her that if she wanted to elope with Wei Yang, she had to make Fu Jinghan give up on her.
So she created chaos, making Four Seasons Warmth a living nightmare.
This time, it was also Ji Xinxin’s idea—she said that since Fu Jinghan couldn’t let go of her, the best way was to threaten him with her own life.
In her past life, Ji Nuannuan had obeyed Ji Xinxin without question.
She waited until the servants weren’t paying attention and then… slashed her own wrist…
Remembering this, Ji Nuannuan rubbed her wrist and looked out the window, emotions swirling in her chest.
This time, I won’t let any of you get away with it.
But right now… something more important—
She had to find Fu Jinghan.
She needed to see him. So badly.
In this life, no man but Fu Jinghan would matter to her ever again.
Ji Nuannuan rushed out of her room and immediately ran into Nanny Zhang.
Nanny Zhang had raised Fu Jinghan since he was young, and by extension, had always treated Ji Nuannuan with kindness and patience in the past life.
“Miss Ji, why are you up already? Your body hasn’t recovered yet. Where are you rushing off to?” Nanny Zhang asked, startled.
It wasn’t her fault—Ji Nuannuan had always been a troublemaker in the past, constantly trying to run away and stirring up the entire house.
Seeing Nanny Zhang’s worried expression, Ji Nuannuan quickly waved her hands, “No no no, Zhang Ma, I’m not going out. I just want to see Fu Jinghan. Is he home?”
“Miss Ji, the young master just left.”
He left? Because of her?
“What do I do? Where did he go? I need to talk to him—it’s important!”
“I don’t know where he went…” Nanny Zhang replied, helplessly shaking her head.
Ji Nuannuan instantly looked like a wilted flower, completely deflated.
“Miss Ji, before the young master left, he told me to bring you some soup—to help you recover.”
Only now did Ji Nuannuan notice the fish soup in Nanny Zhang’s hands—and she nearly burst into tears again.
Even after everything she did to him, Fu Jinghan, no matter how angry, still couldn’t bear to ignore her.
She stared at the soup for a moment before rushing back into her room.
She had to call Fu Jinghan!
She had to tell him how much she missed him—then maybe he’d come home.
Holding her phone, Ji Nuannuan searched through her contacts.
But she couldn’t find Fu Jinghan’s number anywhere. Instead, she came across a contact saved as “Super Ultra Handsome Ah Yang.”
“Ugh, what kind of disgusting name is that!?” Ji Nuannuan grimaced in horror and immediately blocked the number.
“Heh, gross!”
Flipping through her phone again, she realized she had never actually saved Fu Jinghan’s number.
Seeing Nanny Zhang still standing at the door with the soup, Ji Nuannuan gave her a sweet smile.
“Zhang Ma, can you help me call Fu Jinghan?”
Fu Group.
In the meeting room.
Fu Jinghan sat in the middle of an intense meeting, his expression cold and unreadable. The atmosphere was so tense that even the faint vibration of a phone sounded deafening.
Ye Fan, holding the vibrating phone, instantly felt dread creeping in.
Whenever a call came from home, it was never good news—usually something like “Miss Ji ran away again.”
Last time was even worse. He didn’t dare think about it.
He quickly passed the phone to Fu Jinghan.
Seeing the caller ID, Fu Jinghan’s heart sank.
What now?
Did that woman do something reckless again?
“…Uh, Fu Jinghan… are you coming home tonight?”
As soon as the call connected, a soft voice echoed through the phone.
Ji Nuannuan?
She called him herself?
She sounded eager to have him home—was she plotting another escape? Or planning something to hurt him again?
This wasn’t the first time Ji Nuannuan had acted sweet—but every time, her true intention was clear:
To force him into divorce.
“I didn’t call for anything else… I just… I miss you. Can you come home tonight?”
Back at Four Seasons Warmth, Ji Nuannuan lay across the couch, whispering sincerely into the phone.
There was a long silence, so she nervously added, “Please come back. I’ll wait for you~”
That soft, excited voice reached Fu Jinghan’s ears—and he frowned.
He was sure she was scheming something.
Still—
“I’ll come.”
No matter what she was planning, he’d face it.
Hearing his reply, Ji Nuannuan jumped off the couch in delight.
Her happiness was so obvious, it couldn’t be hidden:
“Yay! I’ll be waiting~!”
The joy in her voice only deepened the frown on Fu Jinghan’s face.
In his mind, she must be up to something.
After hanging up, the meeting continued—but Fu Jinghan’s expression grew colder and colder.
Everyone in the room felt it—
The temperature in the meeting room had definitely dropped.
