Chapter 7
“Ah—ah, yes, Young Madam!” Aunt Zhang responded cheerfully to Ji Nuannuan’s words.
She clearly remembered that when Miss Ji first arrived at Siji Nuanyuan, someone had once addressed her as Young Madam, and Ji Nuannuan had thrown quite a tantrum over it. Since then, no one in the house dared call her that again.
But now things had changed—Young Master and Young Madam were getting along, which meant life for the staff was about to get much easier.
The housekeeper acted quickly.
Before long, the moving company arrived. Ji Nuannuan ordered all her old belongings to be taken away—she didn’t care where, just as long as they were gone and never showed up again.
With the now-empty walk-in closet, Ji Nuannuan asked the staff to move Fu Jinghan’s clothes and bedding from the guest room into her bedroom.
She also had everything from the guest room bed moved into the storage room.
Absolutely no more sleeping in separate rooms.
Looking at how the bedroom was now filled with Fu Jinghan’s belongings, Ji Nuannuan smiled to herself, thinking: Once I buy some clothes of my own and hang them up next to his, this will finally feel like home.
Fu Corporation.
In the CEO’s office, Fu Jinghan had just finished a meeting. He stared at his phone, seeing no new messages. His expression grew heavy, so much so that Ye Fan, standing nearby, didn’t dare say a word.
If he said the wrong thing now, he’d probably be sent to live with the office pet.
“You think… Nuannuan is awake by now?” Fu Jinghan asked in a low voice, eyes fixed on Ye Fan.
Ye Fan chose his words carefully. “President… it’s already four in the afternoon…”
As soon as the words left his mouth, the temperature in the room plummeted. Ye Fan could practically feel the cold aura coming off Fu Jinghan.
Back at Siji Nuanyuan, Ji Nuannuan had no idea what her husband was going through. She was fully immersed in reorganizing the bedroom.
After all, it was the wife’s job to take care of her husband’s personal things.
Just then, a servant came running over in a panic: “Miss Ji—uh, I mean, Young Madam—Miss Ji Xinxin is here.”
At the mention of that name, a cold smile curved on Ji Nuannuan’s lips.
So soon?
Long time no see, my dear half-sister.
Meanwhile, back in the CEO’s office—
“What?” Fu Jinghan’s face darkened.
“Sir, it’s Miss Ji—the second Miss from the Ji family. She’s at Siji Nuanyuan again.” The housekeeper’s voice came through the phone.
Fu Jinghan immediately hung up, his face like stone.
Nuannuan… should I trust you?
“Stop her. Don’t let her in,” Ji Nuannuan calmly instructed the staff, before slowly making her way downstairs.
Just as she reached the bottom step, she could hear a shrill voice coming from the front door.
“You lowly servants, don’t you know who I am?”
“I’m a guest of your Young Master! How dare you block me? Just wait till I tell him—you’ll all be fired! Get out of my way!”
She could scream all she wanted, but no one moved aside.
The household staff had long grown tired of Ji Xinxin. Every time she visited, Ji Nuannuan would throw an even bigger tantrum afterward.
Yet, Ji Nuannuan would always defend her sister, even threatening to jump off the balcony if Fu Jinghan dared stop Ji Xinxin from entering.
They had no choice—Fu Jinghan always listened to his wife.
But this time, it was Young Madam herself who said not to let her in. So naturally, they were emboldened.
Ji Xinxin had always strutted around this house like she owned the place. Now that she was suddenly barred from entry, she absolutely lost it.
She unleashed a barrage of vulgar insults, just as Ji Nuannuan descended the stairs and heard every word, feeling utterly disgusted.
“My dear sister, what’s gotten you so worked up?” Ji Nuannuan asked coolly, suppressing the urge to tear her apart.
At the sight of Ji Nuannuan, Ji Xinxin’s voice rose even higher.
“Sister, what’s wrong with your dogs—I mean, your servants? They actually dare block me!”
Ji Nuannuan had casually brought a glass of water with her.
As she approached Ji Xinxin, she “accidentally” slipped forward, sending the glass of water flying directly onto that pristine white outfit.
With a loud splash, Ji Xinxin’s triumphant look froze. A sharp scream pierced the air.
“Ahhhh!”
She stood stunned in place, her once-white dress now soaked and nearly see-through.
Water slithered down her chest like a snake, tracing a wet path that revealed more than it hid.
Ji Xinxin had come here with the goal of seducing Fu Jinghan. She’d specially picked that expensive custom-made, slightly revealing dress, hoping to impress him and perhaps spark something romantic—maybe even become the next Madam Fu.
But now? She hadn’t even made it inside before being soaked by Ji Nuannuan.
“Ji Nuannuan! What the hell? Are you blind or something?!” she shrieked.
“Xinxin, it wasn’t on purpose. How could you say that? My hand’s injured, I just couldn’t hold the cup properly,” Ji Nuannuan said with mock innocence.
Only now did Ji Xinxin notice the bandages on Ji Nuannuan’s wrist, and her expression changed.
“Sister, are you okay? I messaged you and you didn’t reply—I was so worried!” she quickly pivoted, voice syrupy sweet.
“I’m fine. I was with Fu Jinghan yesterday, so I didn’t get a chance to check my phone,” Ji Nuannuan replied flatly.
Hearing that Ji Nuannuan was with Fu Jinghan, Ji Xinxin’s face lit up. “Sister, so… he agreed to the divorce? See? I told you my plan was good!”
Ji Nuannuan gave her a confused look and said, “Divorce? What divorce? We spent the whole night together. Why would we be talking about divorce?”
“Come on, sis, don’t joke. You weren’t talking about love, right?” Ji Xinxin scoffed.
“Congratulations, you got it right.” Ji Nuannuan smiled.
Ji Xinxin froze, her voice shaky. “You mean… you’re not divorcing?”
“Of course not. We’re madly in love and happy together. Why would we ever divorce?” Ji Nuannuan said with a sweet smile.
Ji Xinxin’s face turned to stone. Her emotions nearly broke through the surface, but she forced herself to stay calm and asked, voice trembling with anxiety:
“Sister, how could you? Don’t you love Wei Yang anymore?”
“He’s still waiting for you. What you’re doing now—can you live with yourself?”
“Besides, he’s the one in your heart. Aren’t you betraying him?”
Her dramatic questioning made Ji Nuannuan want to laugh and cry at the same time. How could she have been so blind in her past life?
To think she hadn’t seen through Ji Xinxin’s motives until now.
She’d really been a fool.
Ji Nuannuan stood silently, and Ji Xinxin thought she was wavering. Her expression relaxed, thinking her words had gotten through.
But what Ji Nuannuan said next sent a chill down her spine.
