Chu Rong woke up in the middle of the night because of hunger.
She slept until about two in the morning, her head was dizzy. She felt so hungry that Chu Rong sat up from the bed with weak hands and feet. The room was pitch black and so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. She tentatively touched the pillow, but there was no one there.
Chu Rong was a little puzzled, where were Fu Ruhui and Nian Nian & Xiaoyu?
Isn’t it time to rest yet? She turned on the night light at the bedside and saw the time on the wall clock. She didn’t have to wonder if she had seen it wrong, because the hour hand and minute hand were exactly at three o’clock and twelve o’clock, forming a perfect right angle.
It’s three o’clock now?
Her head was still a little fuzzy after waking up. Chu Rong thought blankly about what happened before she went to sleep. The last thing she remembered was when they were on their way back from the lavender garden. Fu Ruhui was driving, and she must have fallen asleep in the car.
It was just past seven o’clock, and she slept for eight hours in a row and missed dinner. No wonder she was so hungry.
”Where did you go so late at night?” Chu Rong was the only one in the room. Fu Ruhui was not there in the middle of the night, and neither were Fu Nian and Fu Yu. Chu Rong couldn’t help but complain softly, “Why didn’t you call me for dinner? What are you doing?”
”woke up?”
As she thought, the door was pushed open from the outside, and Fu Ruhui’s tall figure flashed in, with no expression on his handsome face.
Chu Rong rubbed her eyes and yawned slowly: “I slept until this time, and you didn’t even call me. Why aren’t you sleeping so late?”
”Sleep?” Fu Ruhui slowly closed the door, his face obscure in the dim light, “You still dare to sleep?”
”…” Chu Rong asked curiously, “What did you say?” Do you need to write an application before going to bed? She got out of bed and walked towards Fu Ruhui, “Are you okay? Are you confused?”
”You almost killed my son, and you still have the nerve to sleep?”
Fu Ruhui pressed on step by step, and Chu Rong couldn’t help but step back. When she saw Fu Ruhui’s stern expression, cold sweat instantly soaked Chu Rong’s back. The lazy expression on her face changed, “You, you know?”
”What do you think?” Fu Ruhui looked at her coldly, “You have to pay the price for what you did.”
He raised his hand, and two doctors in white coats and white masks suddenly appeared behind Fu Ruhui. Their expressions were exactly the same as Fu Ruhui’s. They judged Chu Rong with a condescending look, and held shiny silver handcuffs and syringes with thick needle tips in their hands, ready to use these things on Chu Rong at any time.
Chu Rong’s mind was in a mess. She didn’t expect Fu Ruhui’s attack to be so sudden. When she had already let her guard down, Fu Ruhui’s pursuit of responsibility came too unexpectedly.
Before Chu Rong could even finish the words she had prepared in her mind, the two cold-eyed doctors came over from the left and right to hold her. When the needle was about to pierce Chu Rong’s neck, she struggled with all her strength and shouted, “I am not Chu Rong! I didn’t do those things. Chu Rong and I are not the same person.”
Although she had thought of using this trick to deal with Fu Ruhui before, when it came time to say it, Chu Rong herself felt that this reason was so untenable that no one would easily believe it.
As expected, Fu Ruhui just looked at her coldly, “You are really crazy.”
Chu Rong felt powerless. She bit her lip and said, “It’s true. If you don’t believe it, go ask Nian Nian.”
Fu Ruhui opened his thin lips and sentenced Chu Rong to death with one sentence:
”You have no right to mention my son’s name. Enjoy the rest of your life in the mental hospital, and don’t ever think of getting out.”
The panic in her heart reached its peak and Chu Rong couldn’t even scream. Her hands were handcuffed by the doctor and she watched helplessly as the liquid penetrated into her flesh.
She couldn’t escape. She still couldn’t escape the fate of the original owner.
She’s going to be sent to a mental hospital.
Chu Rong thought that after finishing this story, she might be able to return to her original world. At that time, she would still be that ordinary office worker, living an ordinary life but at least she wouldn’t have to worry.
But no, she was driven crazy in a mental hospital.
She is crazy.
Chu Rong heard herself screaming. She heard the patients in the mental hospital screaming. Her own voice was drowned out by the screams. She was drowned among the countless trapped souls.
At this moment she deeply realized how terrible the original owner’s ending was. She died in the double torture of laughter and madness.
Chu Rong could no longer suppress her fear and she screamed.
”Rongrong, Churong! Wake up, Rongrong.”
A strong shake pulled Chu Rong out of her fear. She opened her eyes and saw that face through her tearful eyes, “Fu Ruhui…”
She could vaguely feel that it was a dream, but the dream was too real, and the panic still lingered in Chu Rong’s mind.
Chu Rong gritted his teeth and suppressed a shudder, then immediately closed her eyes tightly again.
Fu Ruhui hooked his arm around Chu Rong’s shoulders, and softened his tone when he saw that she had woken up, “Did you have a nightmare? Did you?”
She was sleeping soundly just now, but suddenly she began to struggle violently. Fu Ruhui was still in a daze and was startled by Chu Rong’s movement for a moment.
Fu Ruhui first called Chu Rong’s name a few times in a low voice, but it didn’t work at all. Instead, she struggled even harder. Fu Ruhui had no choice but to shake her shoulders and wake her up loudly.
As soon as he said that, Chu Rong’s eyelashes trembled, with tears hanging on them. She looked very frightened.
She refused to open her eyes, covering her face with her hands, and seemed to be trying to calm herself down.
Fu Ruhui didn’t know what she dreamed about. She didn’t say a word in her sleep, but she was crying loudly. However, looking at her reaction, Fu Ruhui guessed that Chu Rong’s dream was probably related to him.
She was unwilling to speak now, so Fu Ruhui had no way to ask. He could only gently hug Chu Rong and hold her against his chest. He put one arm around Chu Rong’s thin back and patted her back with one hand. “Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid, ah? Dreams are all fake, and everything will be fine when you wake up.”
Fu Ruhui’s chest is warm. Chu Rong thought vaguely, he was not like the cold-faced Fu Ruhui she had just seen, without any warmth, emitting a chilly aura all over his body, like an evil ghost who came to take her life.
Only then did Chu Rong feel the difference between reality and dreams.
The cold Fu Ruhui just now was just a dream.
But will Fu Ruhui, who is so warm-hearted, send her to a mental hospital in the future?
Chu Rong slowly blinked her wet eyelashes and said hoarsely, “I was dreaming.”
Fu Ruhui whispered, “I know. Are you still afraid?”
Chu Rong smiled bitterly. How could she not be afraid? This dream was a time bomb buried in her heart, and she didn’t know when it would explode.
”Don’t be afraid.” Seeing that she didn’t answer, Fu Ruhui just rubbed her head against his chest. Fu Ruhui’s heart was melted by the rubbing. He kissed her hair and whispered softly: “I am here, don’t be afraid.”
Fu Ruhui didn’t know that she was the source of Chu Rong’s fear. Even she herself couldn’t tell whether she was really afraid of Fu Ruhui as a person, or was afraid of the fate of the original “Chu Rong”.
Even if Fu Ruhui is willing to let her go, will fate let her go?
Chu Rong had been living too comfortably recently and had forgotten about her previous escape plan.
But will Fu Ruhui really be like what she dreamed of?
Chu Rong thought so and asked: “Fu Ruhui, will you send me to a mental hospital?”
Her voice was so nasal that Fu Ruhui could not hear clearly. He could only lower his head and move closer to Chu Rong. “Rongrong, what did you say?”
Chu Rong didn’t have the courage to ask a second time. She shook her head silently and didn’t move.
Fu Ruhui waited quietly for a while. When her breathing gradually eased a little, it was already past nine o’clock.
”Rongrong,” Fu Ruhui gently pushed away a strand of hair that was stuck on Chu Rong’s cheek, “Can you go downstairs and eat something? It’s safe at home, I’ll hold your hand, don’t be afraid, okay?”
Seeing her reaction now, Fu Ruhui thought that Chu Rong had dreamed of some terrible supernatural monster, so he couldn’t leave her alone. He tried his best to stick to her, let her feel his presence, hoping that she could get out of the virtual dream.
Fu Ruhui had never had the experience of being haunted by nightmares, and he didn’t know how long it would take for Chu Rong to recover to normal. He could only try to attract her attention, flicking her earlobes or pecking the top of her head, and whispering in her ears.
Unfortunately, Chu Rong didn’t want to hear anything and didn’t respond at all. She was like a hollow doll, just hiding her face in Fu Ruhui’s chest. The hot air he exhaled penetrated Fu Ruhui’s clothes in waves, and the hot and humid breath swept over his chest continuously. His temperature was not low to begin with, and now it was even hotter.
Chu Rong didn’t want to talk or move, and Fu Ruhui didn’t want to force her to talk. The two of them sat on the bed hugging each other. Time passed bit by bit in silence. Chu Rong leaned against Fu Ruhui and slowly fell asleep.
Fu Ruhui noticed at the first moment that she had fallen asleep again. She was in a bad mood, and Fu Ruhui was reluctant to wake her up, so she probably wouldn’t be able to have dinner today.
He sighed, slowly leaned over and put Chu Rong down, but just as he was about to withdraw, Chu Rong trembled and woke up again.
”…Where are you going?” Chu Rong grabbed Fu Ruhui’s clothes. No matter what he wanted to do, she frowned and pursed her lips and ordered: “Don’t go.”
Big boss Fu Ruhui was captivated by Chu Rong’s domineering attitude and nodded obediently: “Okay, I won’t go.”
”Lie down.” Chu Rong closed her eyes tiredly and murmured the order.
Fu Ruhui rolled over to Chu Rong’s side, and she rolled into his arms, “Don’t leave.”
Fu Ruhui obeyed everything without objecting: “Okay, I won’t leave.”
Chu Rong felt relieved, and she fell asleep again while holding Fu Ruhui’s clothes. This time, she was not disturbed by nightmares, and she slept more relaxed. Fu Ruhui watched her fall asleep, and the strength in her hands loosened, but he did not leave. Although he was not sleepy, Fu Ruhui would rather lie down and accompany her, otherwise she would have a nightmare again, and there would be no one around, and she might really cry out loud.
Neither of them went downstairs to eat, which made Fu Nian and Fu Yu very hungry. The two little kids were put in the room on the second floor to sleep. After waking up hungry, they went downstairs to find something to eat. They couldn’t find their parents, so Sister Yun asked them to eat first. Fu Nian and Fu Yu didn’t nod, and wanted to wait for Chu Rong and Fu Ruhui.
Sister Yun was also worried. Her husband said he would come down to eat at 8:30, but it was already past 9 o’clock and Fu Ruhui hadn’t made any noise. Sister Yun didn’t feel comfortable going up to disturb him. She was worried that Fu Ruhui might be busy with work, so she asked the kids to eat first. Fu Nian and Fu Yu looked at each other, tacitly refusing to let the two brothers eat alone, and went to the third floor to find their parents.
”Dad, Mom, can my brother and I come in?”
Fu Nian knocked on the door three times, and Fu Yu stretched out his voice to the crack of the door and said, “We are coming in, huh?”
No one agreed, so the two kids unlocked the door on their own and slipped into the room.
“Dad, Mom, it’s time to get up. Aunt Yun has already prepared the meal. Let’s go downstairs and eat fish.”
