“Don’t remember?” Chu Rong didn’t know if the child was just sulking. “They got married not long ago, right?” To be exact, it’s only been more than a year.
Fu Nian lowered his head and frowned. He really didn’t remember. He himself felt strange, why his memory of his father before he went abroad was blank. He also knew that it was only four months ago. With his memory, it was impossible for him to forget it anyway.
And it’s not that he forgot anything at all. Regarding that period of time, Fu Nian’s mind can be described as a blank.
He had heard Aunt Yun say, “Madam was very gentle before, why has her personality changed so much now?” Gentle? Fu Nian subconsciously thought that Chu Rong might have been gentle and tolerant in the past, as Aunt Yun said, but when asked why she was gentle, he couldn’t remember it at all.
The more I thought about it, the more confused I felt.
Fu Nian stood there blankly, as if his soul had left his body. Chu Rong was a little worried. She poked Fu Nian’s shoulder and said, “Niannian, what’s wrong with you? It’s okay if you can’t remember. There’s nothing to remember, ok?”
”Why?” Fu Nian said to himself, “Why can’t I remember anything?”
Chu Rong heard it and felt that it was her fault. Did she trigger some bad memories of Fu Nian? The original owner was not a good memory for him, so it was normal that he didn’t want to remember it.
She didn’t want Fu Nian to continue thinking about it, but Fu Nian seemed to be in a trance. He bit his lips, determined to fill in the empty space in his mind, and closed his eyes and tried hard to recall.
Chu Rong had to raise her voice, “Niannian, don’t think about it.”
Fu Nian shook his head stubbornly. He was a persistent and even obstinate child. He was very confident in his memory. If he had forgotten such a long period of memory, and something so recent, it couldn’t be a problem with his brain. “How could I not remember? Did someone secretly take away my memory?” Fu Nian muttered to himself.
He had read a storybook that was a bit sci-fi. The plot was very simple and the story was short. It was about a little frog who specialized in stealing other people’s memories. He swallowed other people’s memories into his stomach and then took them to the owner of a store that specialized in collecting memories at night in exchange for insects to eat.
Did a little frog swallow his memories?
Fu Nian was so anxious that tears were about to burst out, and he told Chu Rong his thoughts.
Chu Rong also became serious after hearing this. It wasn’t that she really believed there were little frogs that stole people’s memories, but it was impossible for Fu Nian to forget such a long period of memory for no reason. This world couldn’t be regarded as the real world, and the fantasy things that happened were all reasonable.
Therefore, Chu Rong believed that Fu Nian’s memory was deliberately erased.
”Niannian, mom believes in your idea.” Chu Rong first gently comforted Fu Nian who was jumping up and down anxiously, “Many things in the world cannot be explained by science. Don’t worry, I will find a way.”
Fu Nian pinched the soft flesh on his face in distress and said, “I don’t want to think about it anymore.”
Chu Rong was relieved: “Maybe I can remember it tomorrow, there’s no need to rush.”
”We haven’t figured out a solution yet.” Fu Nian continued, “Are you worried that Dad doesn’t like you?”
Chu Rong: “It’s not as simple as a question of like or not. Nian Nian, adults may not be as easy as children to accept things that cannot be explained by common sense. It doesn’t matter whether dad likes it or not.” The most important thing is whether Fu Ruhui wants to “deal with” her.
Fu Ruhui had only two options for dealing with her origins. One was to play dumb and do nothing, just living his life in a muddle, but this was obviously impossible. If Fu Ruhui was a person who was willing to live a muddled life, then she wouldn’t have these unfounded worries. The second option was to find a way to make her leave and get the original Chu Rong back. After all, that was Fu Ruhui’s real wife.
It is true that the original owner abused Fu Nian and Fu Yu, but whether Fu Ruhui knew about it is a question.
Chu Rong doesn’t think he is a saint, and feelings can’t be put down just like that. If the original owner really comes back, what should Fu Nian and Fu Yu do? Will the original owner continue to treat them like that? Can Fu Nian and Fu Yu forgive?
No one is not selfish. Chu Rong now treats Fu Nian and Fu Yu as her own children, so naturally she has some opinions about the original owner. She worries about what will happen if the original owner still treats them badly after returning.
”Nian Nian.” Chu Rong sighed, but that was just a sigh, and nothing else.
Fu Nian looked at her for a while, then slowly moved forward and threw himself into Chu Rong’s arms, “I don’t want you to leave.”
Chu Rong chuckled, “I didn’t say I was leaving?”
Fu Nian hummed and said sullenly, “Oh.”
”Niannian.” Chu Rong smiled softly, hugged Fu Nian’s furry little head with a sense of touch, hummed twice, and patted his head twice like petting a cat. “Don’t worry, I am here…”
Now that I’m here, God will surely send me off to the west, right?
Fu Yu read the thin book downstairs and waited obediently for his brother and mother to come down, but they never came. Holding the book with almost no red circles on it, he couldn’t wait to go upstairs to find his brother to show him that he already knew so many words.
Fu Yu first went to Chu Rong’s room to look for her. He thought his mother would be talking to his brother in there, but when he went in, he didn’t see her. Fu Yu searched Chu Rong’s room thoroughly, but his mother wasn’t there, and his brother wasn’t there either.
Not here. Where else?
Fu Yu didn’t expect them to be in the room on the second floor, so he walked around Chu Rong’s room again, wanting to see if his brother and mother were playing hide-and-seek with him on purpose. When he came to the bookcase in the corner of the bedroom, Fu Yu squatted down and opened the door of the bottom cabinet, thinking that his brother was hiding in the wide and short small compartment, but when he opened it, there was nothing.
Fu Yu opened the bottom cabinets one by one, but still found nothing. Until the last one, there was a plastic bag inside, which contained two or three brand new books. Fu Yu remembered that this was what he bought in the bookstore last time when he and his mother picked up his brother from school. He bought a lot last time, but these were the only ones that had not been opened.
Mom must have read a few of them, why hasn’t she read these yet? Is it because they are not good? Fu Yu took out those books.
The first one, I didn’t recognize it; the second one, I still didn’t recognize it; the third one… Hey, this is the book written by Fu 04. Fu Yu only remembered this one because he recognized his last name.
Fu Yu wanted to open the book, but because the book was too heavy, even though the cover was not covered with plastic film, he couldn’t open it no matter how hard he tried.
”It’s so hard.” Fu Yu held his breath and used all his strength to pry open the cover of the book. His fair face turned red, but he failed to open the book. Instead, he used too much force and fell to the ground. His forehead hit the bookcase with a bang, “Ouch!”
”Little fish[1]Fu Yu?”
Fu Yu covered his head with his hands, stood up with tears in his eyes, and looked at the person who was walking towards him quickly, “Dad, you’re back?” Although he was in great pain, his tone was very happy.
Fu Ruhui, who had just arrived home, looked around the living room, but didn’t see any of the mother and her two children. He guessed that Chu Rong had taken the children upstairs to take a nap. When he went upstairs to look for them, he saw the little fool Fu Yu bumping into the cabinet.
Fu Ruhui quickly walked over and picked up Fu Yu, “Where did you get hit?”
Fu Yu hugged Fu Ruhui’s neck with tears in his eyes, “It hit my head.”
Looking at the scattered books on the ground, Fu Ruhui frowned slightly. He reached out and gently touched Fu Yu’s forehead, “Is it here?”
”Yes.” Fu Yu blinked, “Dad, why did you come back so soon?”
Fu Ruhui carried the child downstairs to look for the medicinal oil. “Dad has finished his work. Why is Xiaoyu upstairs alone? Where are Mom and Nian Nian?”
”I don’t know.” Fu Yu didn’t know what nerve was touched, and tears kept flowing. He didn’t want his father to look down on him. Normally, when he didn’t feel any pain, Fu Yu was willing to act like a spoiled child with his father. But when he was really sick and in pain, Fu Yu didn’t want to let his father know.
He said in a muffled voice, “Dad, my eyes are full of golden beans.”
”Golden Beans?” Fu Ruhui found the medicine box on the first floor, took out the medicated oil, washed his hands, poured the medicated oil on his palms, rubbed it on Fu Yu’s forehead, and massaged it gently: “Tell Dad if it hurts.”
Fu Yu endured the pain and said in a trembling voice: “It doesn’t hurt… Golden Beans is what mom said. When children cry, they shed tears. They are golden beans. Doesn’t dad know?”
Fu Ruhui couldn’t help laughing when he heard Chu Rong’s “high opinion” again: “Dad probably knows.”
”Mom and brother were talking in private,” Fu Yu needed to say something to divert his attention. Speaking of Chu Rong, he naturally talked about Chu Rong, “It’s mom and brother’s little secret, so they don’t let me hear it.”
Fu Ruhui was stunned, “Really?”
Fu Yu was not complaining on purpose, he was just speaking whatever was on his mind. He went on to say, “I went to look for my brothers after I finished my study, but I couldn’t find them.”
Fu Ruhui nodded and smiled, “Then how did you hit your head?” Since there was nothing in the bedroom on the third floor, they should be on the second floor. How could Silly Xiaoyu fumble around in front of the bookcase and hit his head with such a big bump?
”I want to read the book my mother bought, but I can’t open it.” Fu Yu explained aggrievedly, “Dad, that book is so hard to open. I tried so hard, but I couldn’t open it.”
After Fu Ruhui applied the medicine, he went to the bathroom to rinse the smell of the medicine off his hands.
”Dad will take you to find mom and brother?” Fu Ruhui looked at his silly and cute little son and felt as if he saw Chu Rong. The smiles of these two people were inherited from the same line, and when they smiled, they were like two vivid Samoyeds.
Fu Yu nodded and stretched out his hand, “Daddy wants a hug.”
Fu Ruhui indulgently picked up Fu Yu and held his arm around his shoulders, while slowly walking up to the second floor, he asked Fu Yu softly what happened today. He didn’t pay attention to the live broadcast room today, firstly because this variety show was designed almost under his nose, he was very confident that it would not cause any problems for Chu Rong; secondly, that kid Bulang Jun didn’t like it and repeatedly “warned” him not to watch him and Chu Rong get along. Although Fu Ruhui was not threatened, considering the relationship between that kid and Chu Rong, Fu Ruhui was still willing to meet his small request.
Thirdly, I have been skipping work too much recently, so my work is really not that easy.
”Today my brother and I were completing the jigsaw puzzle that dad gave us, and mom came to help us. The uncle called mom away again, so my brother and I had to continue the puzzle by ourselves. But the puzzle was so difficult. After my brother and I figured out mom’s face, we didn’t know how to put it together again. Then my aunt made sesame sauce and sugar-coated steamed buns. My brother and I ate two and a half each, but mom didn’t get to eat any because she was playing the piano. After mom finished playing, my aunt made two more sugar-coated steamed buns for her, but she only ate one, and I ate the remaining one…”
Fu Yu shared with Fu Ruhui all the trivial things that happened during the day. Fortunately, his memory was not bad. He picked out the few things he remembered and chattered them down in Fu Ruhui’s ear.
Fu Ruhui walked slowly and steadily, listened attentively, and asked Fu Yu a few questions from time to time with a smile, leading Fu Yu to remember a few things and tell them to Fu Ruhui.
Fu Yu was counting on his fingers. The part of his head that had been medicated felt hot and burning. He became more and more excited as he spoke, “Dad, Mom is unhappy. That uncle was really too much. He said things that made Mom unhappy and gave her difficult questions! Mom is very upset. Dad, can you change Mom’s teacher? Otherwise, Mom will definitely become more and more unhappy.”
”Mom don’t like that uncle?” Fu Ruhui asked with interest.
Fu Yu shook his head like a rattle, “I don’t like it, Dad, that uncle is too fierce.”
”Brother don’t like that uncle either?” Fu Ruhui asked again.
Fu Yu hesitated a little, “This… he probably don’t like it. I really don’t like it.”
”Xiaoyu really doesn’t like it?”
Fu Yu hesitated for a long time before hesitating and saying, “It’s because that uncle never talks to me.”
Brown Jun had come several times, but had never communicated with anyone other than Fu Ruhui. He was a mysterious regular in the eyes of the children. Their curious nature made Fu Nian and Fu Yu want to get close to Brown Jun, but they were often scared away by his gloomy temperament – Brown Jun had never given them a good look.
Fu Ruhui smiled and said nothing, “Mom will like that uncle. Xiaoyu will know it in the future.”
Fu Yu wrinkled his nose, “How could that be? Dad is lying.”
”How could Dad lie to Xiaoyu?” When he reached the door, Fu Ruhui held the child in one hand and knocked gently on the door of Fu Nian and Fu Yu’s bedroom with the other hand. After waiting for ten seconds, no one responded, so Fu Ruhui slowly opened the door and saw what was going on.
The mother and son were sleeping soundly together, their postures were a little awkward, it looked like they were doing something else and fell asleep. Especially Chu Rong, her legs were still vaguely crossed.
”Ah.” Fu Yu exclaimed softly, “Mom and brother are asleep.” Thinking of this, Fu Yu felt a little aggrieved. His brother and mother didn’t come down to play with him after telling him a little secret, and he fell asleep here. He looked upstairs several times and even bumped his head. Fu Yu thought, how stupid he is. “I didn’t expect Mom and brother to be here.”
Fu Ruhui put Fu Yu down and asked, “Do you want to wake up your mother?”
”No.” Fu Yu said without hesitation, “I’m sleepy too. I want to sleep. I want to sleep with mom and brother.” As he said that, he pulled his short legs and easily climbed onto the crib. He snuggled up to his brother contentedly, squinting his eyes and looked like he was about to fall asleep.
Chu Rong was smelling a pungent smell in his sleep, so she tilted his head to the other side, and bumped into a soft wall. The texture of the wall was good, soft and comfortable, so Chu Rong rubbed it.
Fu Ruhui, who was sitting on the edge of the bed, felt a slight itch on the side of his legs when Chu Rong rubbed them. He moved his legs slightly, but Chu Rong woke up immediately after this movement.
Also because the smell of medicinal oil in the air was too strong, Chu Rong couldn’t fall asleep. There was also a moving “wall” next to her head. Chu Rong lost her sleepiness and wanted to find out what was going on, so she woke up.
Fu Ruhui paused, reached out to push away a few strands of hair that were pressed on Chu Rong’s face, and lowered his voice: “Did I wake you? Sorry.”
Chu Rong yawned blankly at first, then looked at Fu Ruhui for a long while before she sobered up a little. Her voice was a little hoarse after waking up from a nap: “Ah, why are you back?”
Fu Ruhui looked at Fu Nian and Fu Yu who were sleeping soundly, raised his hands to hold Chu Rong’s waist, and whispered in her ear: “Shall we go out and talk?”
”…Okay.” If you want to go out and talk, just go out and talk. Why do you have to hold her waist? Chu Rong, who was originally 60% awake, became 80% awake.
Fu Ruhui smiled slightly, exerted force with his arms, lifted Chu Rong into the air, and quickly left this small room full of childlike fun.
Now she was completely awake from being 80% awake. If her brain hadn’t been a little slow just now, Chu Rong would have screamed out the moment she was picked up.
Sleepiness completely disappeared. Chu Rong thought of everything she had discussed with Fu Nian during the day. She looked at Fu Ruhui with complicated eyes, pursed her lips several times, and seemed to be hesitant to speak.
Fu Ruhui carried her up to the third floor, but did not return to the bedroom where they usually slept.
The largest room on the third floor is diagonally opposite Chu Rong’s current bedroom. You have to turn right after the elevator to get there. The bedroom also has double doors, but it is not rose gold, but a very shiny pure white. The door frame is carved with the shape of the moon and stars, with a full sense of design.
Fu Ruhui pushed open the door and walked in. It was a bright and spacious single room. There was nothing in the room except a pure white piano standing quietly in the middle of the room. The piano was covered with a layer of white gauze with complex patterns. It was probably because no one had used it for a long time, so it was covered to prevent dust.
It is more beautiful and exquisite than the luxurious piano in the living room, but because it is placed alone in this unvisited room, no one can appreciate it even if it has more colorful lights. The sunlight shines in through the color-filtered curtains, giving the room a layer of medieval dimness, like a forgotten oil painting.
Something in Chu Rong’s heart seemed to be hit.
As she looked at this huge creature, a surge of warmth surged in her heart. The warmth flowed through her limbs and bones, burning straight into her eye sockets.
Fu Ruhui did not stop. He turned around and the two of them walked around the lonely piano, passed through the crystal door curtain, and arrived at the real bedroom of the room.
The large single room you see when you first enter the room is just the piano room. It is the place with the most sunlight in the room. It is peaceful and quiet. Just sitting there, you will feel at peace.
The piano room is separated from the bedroom by a thick wall, but there is no door, so if someone plays the piano in the piano room, the sound of the piano can float into the ears of the person lying in bed.
The bedroom has a completely different style from Chu Rong’s original bedroom. If the previous bedroom was in a high-profile palace style, then this bedroom is in a simple but elegant and rustic style.
When we say it is simple, it is not because there are few or cheap furniture in the room, but because every item in it looks ordinary, but in fact they are very design-conscious. There is a wooden wardrobe, a uniquely shaped small table lamp, and a painting with a quirky style. Every box, cabinet, door and window perfectly hits Chu Rong’s aesthetic point.
She couldn’t help but think that if she designed the house herself, it would definitely be similar to the current one.
Just like the piano outside, this bedroom had not been occupied for a long time. Every small part that seemed to have life in it was covered with dust and looked lifeless.
The warmth in Chu Rong’s heart turned into boiling magma. When her eyes fell upon these familiar things, she felt her chest rising and falling violently. Her heart was like a ball of fire, about to turn into a blazing flame and burn her originally indifferent exterior to ashes.
How could it be, how could there be such a familiar feeling? Chu Rong couldn’t believe it, grabbing his clothes and unable to speak.
Fu Ruhui was still holding her, but she was no longer aware of it.
”Rongrong, do you remember anything?” Fu Ruhui paid close attention to the expression on Chu Rong’s face, never relaxing. Seeing her excitement, Fu Ruhui moved closer to Chu Rong and reminded her gently, “Do you still remember your favorite little moon lamp? It took you more than two weeks to carve it.”
He was referring to the small wooden lamp on the bedside that was painted goose yellow. The carving was very rough, even a little clumsy, but Chu Rong looked at it and thought it was cute no matter how she looked at it.
