Chapter 20: Teasing the Handsome Man
Su Nuoyan was called away by their mother to help move things, and Su Nuoli secretly slipped away. She spent ten taels of silver to rent a small boat, and when no one was around, she spread a ten-jin cotton blanket, placed two bundles of lilies beside her, and lay down on the boat, letting it drift.
As the Kongming lanterns floated into the sky like stars, she remembered a line: “If I could release a thousand Kongming lanterns at once, I would create a starry sky just for you, a sky that belongs only to you.”
She glanced at the nearby couple, their faces flushed with shyness, and the smiles at the corners of their mouths—such an overwhelming scent of love wafting around them!
Turning the corner, she took out a fruit plate from her space and was lazily munching on it when she suddenly sensed something unusual around her.
Opening her eyes, wasn’t this the handsome man from before? Dressed in a brocade robe, with embroidered auspicious clouds on the collar, looking extraordinarily magnificent.
His jet-black hair was held up with a white jade hairpin, and a silver mask covered the upper half of his face, leaving only his sharp, mesmerizing eyes visible, which seemed to contain the stars of the sea.
“Is there something? This boat is mine. If there’s nothing else, please leave; it’s a small boat,” Su Nuoli said while munching on mango cubes.
Mo Yunzi had seen the little girl lying lazily on the boat earlier, bathed in moonlight, surrounded by the lights of thousands of homes and the brilliant stars. For a moment, she seemed to have a halo around her, and he found himself mesmerized.
“No, I saw you relaxing and came to take a look. Your boat may be small, but it can still fit two people. These two bundles of flowers give off a faint fragrance,” Mo Yunzi said.
“You’re quite familiar, aren’t you? I’m just a little girl. If a man and I are seen together, it’ll be hard to explain. But since you’re here, everyone is welcome. If you pay me ten thousand taels, I’ll let you stay on this boat,” Su Nuoli said teasingly.
“I’m Mo Yunzi. Ten thousand taels? You’re quite greedy. How much did you pay to rent this boat?” he asked.
In the shadows, An Yi was stunned. How did his master reveal his true name? And to a little girl who hasn’t even reached puberty yet!
“If you want to stay, pay. If not, leave. If you do neither, you’ll face the consequences!” Su Nuoli said, taking another bite of an apple.
“This is a banknote, ten pieces, one thousand taels each. Here you go. Now, can I eat some of what you’re having?” Mo Yunzi said, sitting down and casually picking up one of the lilies.
To be honest, Su Nuoli was stunned. For such a small boat, ten thousand taels just to sit on it? This guy was so rich! But what a pity—he was quite a fool.
Mo Yunzi gave Su Nuoli a confused look and directly asked, “So, do you have any alcohol? I see you’ve got quite the spread here.”
“Yes, I have. Ten thousand taels, want some? If not, I’m also fine with exchanging my looks,” Su Nuoli replied, half-joking.
Mo Yunzi’s expression changed instantly. After a brief moment, he regained his calm, but for some reason, he felt a sudden urge to tease her. In his seventeen years of life, he had never met someone so interesting.
He smiled and said, “Although you’re tall, by the looks of it, you’re not even of marriageable age yet! Are you trying to force me into giving you some wine? I’m not a man with no strength.”
“Oh, so you won’t pay, then!” Su Nuoli said, raising her hand.
She tossed a powder that turned to smoke and surrounded them both. After ten seconds, Mo Yunzi realized that apart from his hands and feet, the rest of his body had gone immobile. He started to panic but also wondered what the little girl would do next.
But after Su Nuoli acted, he immediately regretted it. This little fox was too cunning! He still had matters to attend to tomorrow, and he was determined to meet her again—this time, he wouldn’t let her off so easily.
As for what she did? Well, of course, she teased him! While Mo Yunzi couldn’t move, Su Nuoli pounced on him, her fingers trailing down from his throat to his abdomen. Luckily, she stopped there; otherwise, An Yi would’ve come rushing out.
Then, with a cold smile, Su Nuoli touched Mo Yunzi’s face and said, “Since you’re so handsome, I can’t just leave you without a reward. Consider this copper coin a gift for you!”
