The southern fruit section boasted an abundance of papayas, mangoes, wax apples, jackfruits, durians, guavas, mangosteens, rambutans, dragon fruits, Buddha’s hands, longans, bayberries, loquats, and more. Meanwhile, the northern fruit section flourished with apples, plums, apricots, strawberries, persimmons, hawthorns, grapes, pomegranates, melons, crabapples, and winter jujubes.
The third section was dedicated to medicinal herbs—not just valuable ones like saffron, ginseng, gastrodia, lingzhi, and cordyceps, but also a variety of others such as wenyuan, mugwort, goji berries, bamboo sap, ophiopogon, asarum, taro, isatis root, radix paeoniae, codonopsis, astragalus, and more.
The herbs thrived incredibly well, growing so fast that they seemed to be inexhaustible. Further back was the fourth section, dedicated to flowers…
“Fugui, let’s skip the flowers,” Bai Nuoli interrupted. “I do like them, but now is hardly the time for sightseeing. Have you checked the countdown? Only four minutes left!”
“Alright, I’ll speed up! There are three more sections left. One is the machinery section, filled with solar-powered equipment—so you don’t have to worry about energy sources. These machines can be used for milling grain, sugar processing, and more.
Another section is the forestry area. There are no animals here, just trees—both rare and common species.
The final section is the livestock area. See those mountains? There are animals living there, so if you ever crave meat, you can hunt them. But remember, if you want to serve it to others, you must first use the spirit-cleansing machine to remove the spiritual energy, or else they’ll notice something unusual.
Since there isn’t much competition in the space, these animals reproduce quickly. If their numbers exceed the ecosystem’s balance, some will be culled and stored in the mountain-side houses. Don’t be fooled by their small size—those places are bigger on the inside. You’ll see how much is in there when you need it.”
Just as Fugui finished speaking, the last faint glow of light flickered and disappeared.
At the same time, a young girl lying in bed in the Western Qi Kingdom opened her eyes.
She had spent the past while getting used to the name Bai Nuoli—but now, there was no need to adjust. It was truly her own name now.
She silently called out to Fugui in her mind. When she heard its response, she finally relaxed.
Starting today, I’m going to live in ancient times.
Her heart fluttered with excitement, and an uncontrollable urge made her want to get up and walk around. However, the moment she tried to stand, she collapsed back onto the bed.
Oh, right! The memories had arrived.
Her name was Bai Nuoli. She should have been a legitimate daughter, but everything changed because of her scumbag father. Before marrying her mother, he broke his promise to her and betrayed her trust. By the time her mother realized she had been tricked, it was already too late—she had no choice but to marry into the Bai family.
Bai Nuoli’s mother was the only daughter of the wealthiest merchant, but her parents were low-key and cautious, fearing jealousy from others. Their assets were registered under different names, so no one knew they were actually rich. They had planned to reveal the truth after the wedding—thankfully, they never did.
A strong-willed woman, Bai Nuoli’s mother refused to let a traitorous husband benefit from her family’s wealth. When she learned that he had married the legitimate daughter of a second-rank official for the sake of political gain and fortune, she only brought six trunks of dowry with her—keeping the rest of the fortune away from those undeserving hands.
Her father had been a poor scholar, but he was cunning. With the riches from those six trunks, he managed to climb the ranks and become the Prime Minister. How ironic!
After Bai Nuoli’s mother passed away when she was eight, she was sent to a remote estate to be raised. Only two servants accompanied her. After her maternal grandmother died, another caretaker was sent to look after her.
Meanwhile, her scumbag father had four concubines, though only two bore children. Altogether, he had eight offspring—like a breeding stallion.
The grown children included:
Bai Luorou (eldest legitimate daughter)
Bai Luoxue (second legitimate daughter)
Bai Nuoli (eldest illegitimate daughter)
Bai Qingran (second illegitimate daughter)
Bai Zhang (eldest legitimate son)
Bai Ze (eldest illegitimate son)
And a newborn pair of dragon-phoenix twins from a concubine.
So… this is my new family? Bai Nuoli thought grimly.
