Chapter 10 – Spiritual Water
“Sprouted—sprouted seedlings already?”
Both of them wore the same stunned and bewildered expressions.
These were potatoes they had only planted three days ago, yet they had already sprouted.
Shu Ruohua quickly snapped out of her shock and rushed over to the potato patch. She squatted down and touched the young seedlings, which had already grown seven or eight tender leaves.
Just a moment ago, she’d truly thought she was hallucinating!
After all, as a graduate student majoring in agricultural science, she was well aware of the potato’s growth cycle.
Normally, it would take at least half a month for seedlings to reach this stage!
Yet these had only taken three days.
She stared at the potato seedlings for a long time…
Lost in deep thought.
…
For some reason, she suddenly recalled how, last night, after Qian Ning had helped her clean her wound, the pain had disappeared almost immediately.
“Could it be related to the water?”
Water plays a key role in plant growth. The more she thought about it, the more she suspected the rapid growth was caused by the water.
After a while…
The more she thought, the more suspicious she felt.
She gently touched her still-bandaged arm—there was no pain at all. “Could it really be the water?”
Beside her, Qian Ning’s voice sounded, “Miss, Miss!”
Shu Ruohua had been in a daze for quite a while now. Qian Ning had called her name several times already.
“Ah?” Only then did Shu Ruohua snap out of it.
Looking at Qian Ning, Shu Ruohua suddenly thought of something. “Qian Ning, isn’t it time to change my dressing?”
Yesterday, the imperial physician had said the wound needed to be redressed daily. This was the perfect opportunity to check how well it had healed.
If it truly was the effect of the water, then her wound should be healing faster as well.
Qian Ning finally remembered that they hadn’t changed the bandage yet. She quickly helped Shu Ruohua back into the room.
…
Inside the room.
Qian Ning carefully unwrapped the bandage on Shu Ruohua’s arm.
But as soon as the last layer was peeled back and she saw the wound, Qian Ning froze. “Miss, your—your arm…”
She stared at Shu Ruohua’s arm, so shocked she could barely speak.
Shu Ruohua had been watching her arm the whole time, and now her own expression was also full of disbelief.
Just last night, Imperial Physician Wang had said her arm wouldn’t begin scabbing for at least another two or three days. But now, not even a full day later, a thin layer of scab had already formed.
…
“It really must be the water!” Shu Ruohua muttered under her breath.
She furrowed her brows and fell silent. But she knew this alone wasn’t enough proof—she had to test it further.
She glanced toward the well in the courtyard outside the window, then asked Qian Ning to fetch another basin of water to wash the wound.
“Yes, Miss!” Qian Ning responded promptly and quickly returned with a fresh basin of water.
She carefully cleaned Shu Ruohua’s wound again.
Shu Ruohua noticed something: under normal circumstances, using water to clean a wound with a soft scab should cause the scab to soften, peel, or even inflame the wound, triggering pain.
Yet her scab hadn’t softened at all. In fact, it seemed to have thickened slightly, looking like it was healing even better.
What’s more—it didn’t hurt at all.
This only made her even more convinced of the water’s miraculous effect.
…
After cleaning the wound, it was already midday.
Since they had eaten breakfast late, Shu Ruohua wasn’t hungry. After Qian Ning finished cleaning her wound, she let her go eat.
As for herself, wanting to observe how the wound healed, she didn’t let Qian Ning re-bandage it.
She simply sat at the round table, staring fixedly at her arm.
Time ticked by slowly. Maybe it was too boring, but before she knew it, she had fallen asleep…
…
Night gradually fell.
Shu Ruohua had unknowingly spent the entire afternoon napping at the round table.
It wasn’t until Qian Ning brought over a plate of freshly fried potato chips—the rich aroma filling the whole room—that Shu Ruohua, guided by her keen sense of smell, slowly began to wake up.
She sniffed the air. Her eyes were still closed, but her head had already lifted.
“So fragrant!!” she exclaimed in a dreamy tone. She licked her lips and then suddenly opened her eyes.
Potato chips!!
The moment she saw the chips before her, Shu Ruohua’s eyes nearly popped out of her head.
It was as if she’d forgotten everything else—the chips were all she could see.
She crunched away happily while praising Qian Ning’s cooking skills, marveling at how she had mastered the process after just watching once.
In fact, the chips Qian Ning made even tasted better than the ones Shu Ruohua had fried herself.
After munching for a while, she suddenly remembered something.
“Right!” she blurted out, jolting upright.
She stopped eating, rolled up her sleeve—she had long since pulled it down again—and nearly forgot the main reason.
Sure enough…
The wound that had only formed a thin scab before now had a thick, sturdy layer.
And when she touched it, there wasn’t even the slightest bit of pain.
“It really is spiritual water!” she said, unable to suppress the excitement in her voice as she stood up instinctively.
Her soft pink lips curved into a subtle smile.
She could hardly believe it—she had transmigrated, and somehow, she had encountered something that only existed in novels: spiritual water.
