Chapter 30: Because I Know a Secret Art
Early the next morning—
Because her room had been taken over by Xiao Che to sleep in, Shu Ruohua had no choice but to squeeze into Qian Ning’s room for the night.
Perhaps it was because Qian Ning’s bed was too small, it had been a cramped and restless sleep for the two of them.
Just as the sky began to lighten, Shu Ruohua awoke.
She ran for half an hour in the backyard.
By the time she finished, the sky had grown noticeably brighter.
Dewdrops sparkled as they slid down the petals and leaves of flowers and plants. Shu Ruohua wiped the sweat from her forehead and prepared to take a bath.
Qian Ning was already in the small kitchen preparing breakfast.
After bathing, Shu Ruohua immediately felt much more refreshed.
She changed into fresh clothes, tidied up a bit, then picked up the medicine box and headed straight to Xiao Che’s room.
Inside the room.
Xiao Che was already awake.
He was sitting on the edge of the bed, seemingly preparing to get up.
Shu Ruohua happened to walk in.
“What are you doing?”
Seeing Xiao Che trying to get out of bed, she grew anxious and quickly rushed over.
“Your foot injury hasn’t healed yet! Why are you getting up?”
Xiao Che replied calmly, “It’s fine.”
As he spoke, his foot had already touched the floor.
Shu Ruohua initially wanted to stop him, but he was already standing.
Xiao Che walked a few steps across the floor calmly.
He appeared no different from a normal person.
This instantly reminded Shu Ruohua of the spirit water she had used to wash his foot last night.
It seemed the spirit water wasn’t only effective on her—it worked on others as well.
She skipped to Xiao Che’s side and tried to support him, but he raised his hand to stop her.
A faint flicker of complexity passed through his dark eyes.
He returned to sit on the bed, his gaze fixed on Shu Ruohua.
His stare made her heart beat faster.
Xiao Che blinked slowly and tried to soften his expression. “Help me change the bandage.”
Shu Ruohua nodded. “Okay.”
She walked to his side, feeling inexplicably nervous.
If she undid the bandages on his foot and the injury was already healed—just like hers had been previously—wouldn’t he start to suspect something?
Still, she had no choice but to change the bandage.
Forget it.
“At worst, I’ll just trick him like I did with Qian Ning!” Shu Ruohua thought to herself.
She carefully began unwrapping the bandage on his foot.
Just as she expected—
Last night, there had been a clearly visible, deep gash on Xiao Che’s foot. But now, the wound had completely healed and was already forming a thin scab.
Xiao Che’s eyes darkened slightly, but he said nothing.
Shu Ruohua also remained silent. She quickly sprinkled some medicinal powder over the area, re-bandaged it, and was ready to flee.
“You should rest now, I’m heading out.”
Xiao Che called out, “Don’t you have something to explain to me?”
It was obvious he wanted to ask something but didn’t directly say it.
Shu Ruohua paused in her tracks. She understood exactly what he meant.
Turning her head with a faint smile, she asked, “What is it?”
Xiao Che remained silent for a moment.
He suddenly recalled the night before last when he drank her porridge—his foot had stopped hurting almost immediately, and the recovery had been unusually quick.
And last night, all she had done was help him wash and clean his wound, yet the pain had gone away at once.
And this morning, the injury had healed far faster than expected.
He couldn’t help but wonder whether the rapid recovery had something to do with Shu Ruohua.
And why exactly had she stayed by his side?
Xiao Che no longer wanted to play riddles with her. “Why is my wound healing so quickly?”
Shu Ruohua replied, “That’s because you have good skin.”
Xiao Che: “…”
“If you won’t explain, I’ll have all the food in Lengfeng Pavilion taken away!”
Shu Ruohua: “…”
Why did it feel like she had saved a snake…
She frowned slightly. “If I tell you, can you give me more food?”
She emphasized the word “give.”
Xiao Che: “…” “Fine.”
Shu Ruohua said, “Because I used a secret art in the water that helps your wounds heal quickly.”
