Every word Liang Xianzhang spoke seemed to strike at the very core of Zhou Yi’s heart. His gaze was so serious, and an indescribable emotion spread through Zhou Yi as he looked at him.
From every interaction with Liang Xianzhang, it became clear that he was helping him—keeping his identity as an Omega a secret, helping him stabilize his pheromones, and offering him the respect and care he had never received before. Now, Liang Xianzhang had lowered his posture, step by step, softening his approach.
Is it really just because he likes me?
Zhou Yi couldn’t comprehend this feeling. But despite the confusion, there was a part of him that couldn’t deny the small hope that had begun to stir inside him, a hope that had formed because of Liang Xianzhang’s words.
Zhou Yi’s gaze wandered over Liang Xianzhang’s face. As he lay on his side, half of Liang Xianzhang’s face was bathed in light, while the other half remained in shadow. His black hair fell across his forehead, and his eyelashes brushed softly against his skin, casting a delicate shadow. Zhou Yi’s own face was reflected in Liang Xianzhang’s narrow eyes, giving the moment an ethereal, almost gentle quality.
Zhou Yi bit his lower lip, trying to hide the emotions stirring within him. He covered his eyes with his elbow, unwilling to meet Liang Xianzhang’s gaze. In a desperate tone, he whispered, “You can do whatever you want, but you can’t let him find out about our relationship.”
After hearing Zhou Yi’s answer, Liang Xianzhang’s exterior remained calm, though inside, his heart raced. He whispered softly, “Okay. Any other requests?”
Zhou Yi shook his head. “Nothing.”
Liang Xianzhang gently pressed Zhou Yi back into his arms. “In that case, let’s go to bed. It’s very late.” After tossing and turning for so long, Zhou Yi was exhausted. The scent of Liang Xianzhang’s pheromones filled the air, making it hard for him to resist. He didn’t refuse. Curling up, he rested his head on his arms and allowed himself to be held in Liang Xianzhang’s embrace, quickly falling asleep.
As Zhou Yi slept peacefully in his arms, Liang Xianzhang raised a hand and gently touched his forehead, smoothing the furrowed brow. His fingers traced down the bridge of Zhou Yi’s nose, then lightly brushed over his slightly swollen lips, caressing them repeatedly.
The dim light cast soft shadows, creating an intimate atmosphere around them.
Suddenly, the phone on the bedside table vibrated, breaking the quiet. Liang Xianzhang paused, turned slightly, and reached for the phone. He opened it to find a message from Liang Shaowen: “Brother, I’m almost there.”
Liang Xianzhang typed a quick reply with one hand, clicking send. [Do as I said before.]
After replying, he set the phone aside and pulled Zhou Yi closer, holding him tight once more.
How could he allow Zhou Yi to stay with another Alpha forever? If he had truly disregarded Zhou Yi’s feelings, he would have locked him away and kept him by his side. But that was clearly impossible. Zhou Yi would never accept that, and Liang Xianzhang couldn’t bear to see sadness in his eyes. If he wanted Zhou Yi to stay, he needed patience and a more subtle approach to overcome this obstacle.
The thought made Liang Xianzhang’s heart tighten. He gently stroked Zhou Yi’s hair, lowering his head to kiss his forehead softly. “My Omega,” he whispered.
Meanwhile, in a VIP box, flashing red and blue lights illuminated the space, and the air was filled with restless music.
Shang Yichen sat disinterestedly, a lit cigarette hanging loosely from his mouth, his gaze distant as he watched the crowd dance.
Meng Rongze, who had just finished dancing with an Omega, walked over and sat down next to him with a glass of wine. “What’s got our Young Master Shang so out of sorts today?”
Shang Yichen casually extinguished his cigarette in the ashtray, picked up a glass of wine, and took a sip, his tone indifferent. “My mood’s been affected by someone.”
Meng Rongze smirked. “Did your little stand-in send another disappointing message, complaining about not knowing his place and trying to get you to come home?”
“No…” Shang Yichen’s fingers tapped on the armrest, pausing for a moment. “He doesn’t send messages anymore.”
Meng Rongze shook his wine glass with a smile. “Oh? He’s finally learned his place? Looks like you’ve trained him well.”
Shang Yichen felt a wave of irritation, despite Meng Rongze’s mock praise. He thought about how Zhou Yi had become unusually well-behaved recently—too well-behaved, in fact.
Instead of pestering him with constant messages or trying to start conversations like before, Zhou Yi now simply asked about his schedule for dinner and then quietly went about his business. If he wasn’t home when Shang Yichen arrived, there were no calls, no messages—nothing.
Shang Yichen should have felt relieved. After all, he had often complained about Zhou Yi’s clinginess and had even been embarrassed by Meng Rongze’s teasing about his “henpecked” situation. But now, it felt like something was missing.
Reaching for his phone, Shang Yichen found that it was already midnight, yet he had received no messages or calls from Zhou Yi. An odd sense of emptiness lingered, and he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
