Chapter 22: “Young Master, There’s News About Miss Tang”

“It seems to be called Escape Room, a game show where participants have to escape. It’s produced by Wang Chengde, who has worked on many top variety shows in the country. Four celebrities and six regular people are participating. Many netizens are eagerly awaiting the show, and it’s already very popular,” Zhuilang explained, sharing what he had learned from his investigation the previous night.

Tang Zhishu listened quietly, pressing her lips together, deep in thought.

Zhuilang didn’t ask further, restarting the sports car and driving off.

About ten minutes later, Tang Zhishu broke the silence.

“Arrange it for me. I want to join that show.”

“Screeeech—”

The car came to a sudden halt, the tires screeching loudly on the road.

“What?! Zhishu, are you joking?” Zhuilang looked at her in shock.

Tang Zhishu’s forehead nearly hit the dashboard from the abrupt stop. She glared at him coldly. “Do you think I’m joking?”

Zhuilang immediately caved under her gaze. “…No.”

“Then make the arrangements.”

Zhuilang obediently agreed. “Alright, alright, anything you say, Miss! Who can argue with you?”

Tang Zhishu ignored him.

Zhuilang sighed. “Even if I could argue, I wouldn’t want to! You and Yanyan are my precious girls.”

She didn’t bother responding to his self-absorbed comment, instead turning to look out of the window, her brow furrowed as she repeatedly considered the clues in her mind.

Although Zhuilang often acted unserious, he worked quickly. The next day, he called to inform Tang Zhishu that he had already made arrangements with the director, though how he did it was unclear.

Tang Zhishu would join the show as one of the regular participants.

Her reason for joining was obvious. If she wanted to find out whether Fu Yushen was really her brother, this was the perfect chance to get close to him, and she wasn’t going to miss it.

The first episode of the variety show would be filmed in two days.

At the Mansion of Yan Kui.

In the study, Yan Kui sat at his desk, holding a stack of contract documents.

There was a knock on the door.

“Come in,” Yan Kui said calmly.

Ah Ming entered the room, approaching the desk and respectfully reporting, “Young Master, there’s news about Miss Tang.”

Yan Kui paused his work, lifting his gaze to look at Ah Ming. “What news?”

Ah Ming replied, “I found out that in two days, Miss Tang will participate in a variety show featuring both celebrities and regular participants. The show is called Escape Room.”

Hearing this, Yan Kui’s expression showed a hint of surprise.

“Escape Room?” He raised an eyebrow.

Ah Ming nodded. “Yes, Young Master. The show is a real-life escape game.”

Yan Kui pursed his lips, his eyes half-closed as if lost in thought.

After a moment, he spoke. “I see. You can go now.”

Ah Ming nodded. “Understood, Young Master.” After Ah Ming left the study, Yan Kui picked up his phone from the side of his desk and opened Baidu to search for the show Escape Room.

Meanwhile, at the Tang family house.

It wasn’t just Yan Kui who found out about Tang Zhishu joining the variety show Escape Room—even Tang Xin’s classmate called to inform her of the news. This classmate happened to be part of the production team, and upon seeing Tang Zhishu’s name on the list of regular participants, she immediately informed Tang Xin.

Tang Xin was puzzled as to why Tang Zhishu would join a variety show, but she saw it as an opportunity. Without hesitation, she asked her classmate to pass a message to the assistant director, and given her status as Tang Cangxiao’s granddaughter, the assistant director agreed without a second thought.

Two days later.

It was the day of the show’s recording.

Tang Zhishu woke up early, freshened up, and after having breakfast, drove to the hotel where the production team was staying.

Half an hour later, she parked her car in the hotel’s parking lot and headed to the entrance. As she arrived, she noticed a large bus parked outside, surrounded by production staff, the assistant director, and the producer.

Across from them stood two women and one man, who were likely the celebrity guests for this episode. However, Tang Zhishu didn’t see Fu Yushen.

Just as she approached, the assistant director and producer walked over to greet her. Both appeared to be in their thirties.

The assistant director extended his hand and greeted her with a polite smile. “You must be Miss Tang. Hello, I’m Chen Kaige, the assistant director of the show. You can call me Director Chen.”

The moment he finished, the producer beside him also extended his hand with a smile. “Miss Tang, hello. I’m the show’s producer. You can call me Xiaolin.”

Tang Zhishu felt slightly awkward. There was no doubt that Zhuilang had told them about her identity. Originally, she had planned to join the show as a regular participant, but now she had to force a polite smile and greet them.

“Nice to meet you. You can call me Zhishu. Please take care of me during the show.” Tang Zhishu smiled brightly.

Both men chuckled and assured her it wouldn’t be a problem.

Afterward, Tang Zhishu approached the three celebrity guests. Since the recording hadn’t started yet, the two female celebrities greeted her coldly, while the male guest greeted her politely.

“Hello, my name is Lu Zilin, but you can call me Zilin,” he said.

Tang Zhishu looked at him. Lu Zilin had delicate and handsome features, the typical fresh-faced look of a young male star. She smiled back. “Nice to meet you, you can call me Zhishu.”

They exchanged smiles but didn’t continue the conversation.

Tang Zhishu was now waiting for Fu Yushen to arrive. Just as she was wondering when he would show up, one of the female celebrities, Lin Xiaoxiao, asked the assistant director, “Director Chen, when will Senior Fu Yushen be arriving?”

Director Chen glanced at his watch and replied, “He should be here soon. Let’s wait a little longer. Besides Yushen, there are still five more guests yet to arrive.”

About ten minutes later, a car finally pulled up.

Tang Zhishu looked over, expecting to see Fu Yushen, the person she suspected to be her brother. However, as the car door opened, two girls stepped out, leaving her momentarily stunned.

“What are they doing here?” she thought in disbelief.
