The Secret Behind the Veil Chapter 25

Chapter 25: “It Seems I’m About to Fall in Love with Her”

At the moment the girl’s soft hand touched his lips, a storm brewed in the man’s eyes.

Yan Kui allowed her delicate hand to rest on his thin lips, his dark, cold eyes locked onto her, a hint of teasing amusement flickering in their depths.

Tang Zhishu, focused entirely on what the man had just said, failed to notice the awkwardness of her hand resting on Yan Kui’s lips.

Seeing the smile in Yan Kui’s eyes, she assumed he was provoking her.

With her alluring fox-like eyes wide open, she threatened, “You came here under false identity, didn’t you? If you don’t want me to reveal your true identity to everyone, then promise me you won’t mention that night again, especially in front of so many people.”

If he had to bring it up, it should only be in private.

Tang Zhishu was still trying to process the fact that this man would lower himself to participate in a variety show.

Setting aside his identity, his personality simply didn’t match with coming to join something like this for no reason.

The only possibility she could think of was that he had come to participate in the show to take revenge on her.

But she was not there for fun; she was there to find her brother.

So, she needed to make it clear to him, or else she feared it might affect her plans.

Yan Kui stared at her quietly for a few seconds before coldly replying, “Are you that afraid of others knowing our relationship?”

Tang Zhishu blurted out without thinking, “Of course!”

What if her brother found out that his sister had slept with Yan Kui?

Wouldn’t her image as a great and dignified sister be ruined?

However, after she responded without thinking, Yan Kui interpreted her words as her fear of others knowing their relationship. His expression immediately turned icy.

It was terrifyingly gloomy.

Tang Zhishu noticed this shift.

She felt confused.

Wasn’t this man in a good mood just a moment ago?

Why did he suddenly look like she was a heartless person who had abandoned him?

And his gaze seemed to imply he was angry at her for raising the topic.

Ah, men’s moods really are as unpredictable as the weather in June.

So sudden, so hard to grasp.

After a few seconds of Yan Kui’s resentful and cold gaze, Tang Zhishu immediately surrendered. Leaning close to his ear when no one was paying attention, she whispered, “Stop messing around. I have something very important to do on this show; I’m not here just for fun. If you really must bring up that night, wait until we’re alone to tell me. If others find out, it could mess up my plans.”

What if her brother found out, misunderstood her, and distanced himself from her, hating her?

Tang Zhishu was completely unaware that her current demeanor and words made her seem like a little wife trying to appease her angry husband.

The warm breath of the girl against Yan Kui’s ear caused a strange flicker of emotion to pass through his cold, dark eyes.

And the soft touch of her hand on his lips continuously stirred the seed that had begun to sprout deep within him.

Yan Kui’s gaze was intensely fixed on her as he spoke, “So, you’re not afraid of others knowing our relationship? You’re just worried it might affect what you need to do?”

At the moment the man spoke, his cool lips brushed against the girl’s soft palm.

A strange tingling sensation surged through Tang Zhishu’s hand, causing her to instinctively pull it back.

Clearing her throat a couple of times, she subconsciously wiped her hand on her pants, trying to rub away the lingering feeling from just moments ago.

“Of course! Otherwise, what do you think it is?” Tang Zhishu replied earnestly.

Upon hearing her response, a hint of a smile curled at the corners of Yan Kui’s lips, and his mood gradually began to lighten.

His deep, melodious voice remarked, “That’s good. It’s nothing, then.”

“Since it’s nothing, then promise me that when there are others around, you won’t mention that night again.”

Yan Kui raised an eyebrow, interpreting her words to mean that he wasn’t an outsider but rather someone close to her.

A subtle smile appeared on the man’s lips as he nodded, “Okay.”

Hearing his answer, Tang Zhishu finally felt a significant sense of relief wash over her.

She could now comfortably lean back in her seat.

However, noticing the sudden change in the man’s mood, she felt perplexed.

She sighed softly, shaking her head; men’s emotions were as unpredictable as the weather—one moment it was a downpour, and the next, clear skies.

After that, the two fell silent.

Yan Kui kept his eyes half-closed.

He pressed his thin lips together, seemingly trying to savor the warmth and sensation the girl had left behind moments before…

No one noticed what was happening between Tang Zhishu and Yan Kui.

In the front of the bus, a small commotion was unfolding.

Tang Xin, her face full of arrogance, glared at Yan Luo and demanded imperiously, “I want this seat! I order you to get up!”

Sitting in the front row, Yan Luo crossed her arms, and even while seated, her noble demeanor commanded attention as she glanced at Tang Xin and replied lazily, “Does this seat have your name on it? If not, why should I give it to you? Who do you think you are?”

Tang Xin’s expression darkened at Yan Luo’s retort, her cold eyes fixing on Yan Luo. “I am the esteemed young lady of the Tang family. Do you know the consequences of offending me?”

Yan Luo let out a contemptuous laugh.

Then she stood up.

Seeing this, Tang Xin’s expression brightened immediately.

Just as she thought her words had intimidated Yan Luo, She suddenly stood in front of her, looking down with a cold yet impressive demeanor on her cute, round face.

“Do you think you’re worthy of calling yourself esteemed? Are you taller than me? If not, then why act so high and mighty? You’re not even on the same level as a bad woman’s hair strand.”

Yan Luo was already annoyed with Tang Xin, and now that she was coming after her, how could she not retaliate, especially after having her skin burnt red from the sun waiting for them.

In the back row, Tang Zhishu heard Yan Luo’s words and raised an eyebrow, stifling a laugh that was bubbling inside her.

Holding her belly, she suddenly leaned over and patted Yan Kui on the shoulder, her cheeks flushed with amusement. “Oh no, your cousin is just getting cuter! I think I might be falling in love with her; what should I do?”

Seeing her laugh so joyfully lightened Yan Kui’s mood even more.

However, the next moment, upon hearing her follow-up remark, his expression turned cold again.

Sitting alone on the other side, Fu Yushen glanced at Tang Zhishu for a moment before shifting his gaze away.

Compared to Yan Luo, Tang Xin felt particularly disadvantaged, especially with the laughter around her, particularly the mocking from Tang Zhishu. Her face twisted in frustration.

Without thinking, she raised her hand, ready to slap Yan Luo……..
