The Secret Behind the Veil Chapter 26

Chapter 26: “Falling Asleep on His Shoulder”

Before Tang Xin’s hand could reach Yan Luo, a slender hand suddenly grabbed her wrist tightly.

“Ah! You shameless b*tch! How dare you hurt me?” Tang Xin cried out in pain.

Standing behind her, Song Fengcheng looked furious, his expression dark as he glared at Yan Bing, who was holding Tang Xin’s wrist.

“You’re going too far. Not only causing trouble and taking up the seat, but you also want to hit her?”

Yan Luo covered her mouth in shock, staring wide-eyed at Song Fengcheng.

Thinking that his intimidating presence had frightened her, he softened a bit at her cute, innocent look and the way she looked at him with sad eyes.

“Look, you’re the wrong one here. I don’t want to hold it against you; just give up the seat, and we can pretend this never happened.”

Yan Luo was shocked as she covered her mouth. “Oh my goodness, he’s so shameless!”

Her innocent and cute comment made not only several guests laugh out loud but also had the staff struggling to hold back their smiles.

Originally, Song Fengcheng thought the girl must have feelings for him, but now he felt embarrassed and scowled at Yan Luo.

Yan Luo, resembling a startled deer, clutched her chest and frowned, muttering, “Do shameless people think the whole world revolves around them? Do they think everyone will indulge them? How scary!”

With the most innocent expression, the pure and cute Yan Luo was saying the harshest things.

Watching the scene, Tang Zhishu was almost laughing herself into Yan Kui’s arms.

Worried someone might notice something off, she held her belly with one hand while tightly gripping the seat in front of her with the other.

Song Fengcheng looked incredibly unhappy.

Meanwhile, Tang Xin’s face turned pale as she glared at Yan Bing, enduring the pain. “I’ll remember this grievance!”

Yan Luo found the ugly woman before her increasingly unbearable.

Quickly turning to Yan Bing, she said, “Sister, she’s too hard to look in the eyes. Please let go of her. What if your hands get dirty? There’s nowhere to wash them here!”

Yan Luo seemed to be merely stating a fact, her cute brows knitted together in distress.

Yan Bing coldly glanced at Tang Xin and then released her wrist.

Yan Luo quickly pulled a wet wipe from her pink bag and handed it to Yan Bing. “Sister, hurry up and wipe your hands.”

Yan Bing took the wet wipe and carefully began to clean her hands.

Tang Xin and Song Fengcheng both looked at this scene with faces twisted in anger.

Fearing the situation might escalate, Director Chen quickly spoke up. “Everyone, we’re heading to the filming location now. Please take your seats and watch your step.”

With the director speaking up, Song Fengcheng didn’t want to continue the commotion; otherwise, he would be the one embarrassed.

Gently stroking Tang Xin’s wrist, he comforted her softly, “Xinxin, let’s sit down for now, okay?”

Tang Xin’s eyes turned red instantly. Unwilling, she replied, “Brother Fengcheng, you have to take revenge for me.”

With a pampering smile, Song Fengcheng assured her, “Okay, okay, once we get to the filming location, I’ll teach them a good lesson.”

Hearing this, Tang Xin reluctantly moved to sit down in another spot.

Finally, the situation settled down, and Director Chen secretly sighed in relief.

Just as he sat down, his assistant leaned over and asked, “Director Chen, given the situation, should we edit the footage we just recorded into the final cut?”

Director Chen thought for a few seconds before quietly saying, “Let the post-production team add this in. After all, it’s a highlight—conflicts between guests will attract more viewers.”

The assistant understood. “Got it.”

Song Fengcheng and Tang Xin had no idea that everything they had just done was being recorded.

The filming location was a small town in Que City, about thirty kilometers away.

After about half an hour on the bus, the guests began to feel drowsy.

Lin Xiaoxiao and Liang Xiaoya rested with their eyes closed against their seats.

Lu Zilin, who was sitting behind Fu Yushen, also closed his eyes to catch some sleep.

Yan Luo was soundly asleep, leaning against her sister’s shoulder.

Her mouth was slightly pushed out by Yan Bing’s shoulder, with a droplet of sparkling saliva trickling from the corner of her mouth.

In her dreams, Yan Luo smacked her lips and continued to sleep peacefully.

On the other side, Tang Zhishu, who hadn’t slept well the night before, felt drowsiness creeping up on her.

She struggled to keep her head up, but it slowly tilted down.

Seeing this, Yan Kui furrowed his brows.

Tang Zhishu was just too tired; her head gradually leaned towards him until it finally rested on his shoulder.

Yan Kui turned his head, his gaze landing on Tang Zhishu’s face.

Her features were beautiful, delicate, and small; when her eyes were closed, her long eyelashes were almost mesmerizing.

Her lips were soft and cherry-red.

He recalled how her lips had kissed his lips sweet and soft.

As he stared at her, he found himself lost in thought.

What he didn’t realize was that while he was entranced by Tang Zhishu, Fu Yushen, sitting at the back, had a cold and gloomy expression, his eyes chillingly fierce.

Time passed, and before long, the bus was nearing its destination when everyone was awakened by Director Chen’s voice.

Tang Zhishu opened her sleepy eyes, and upon realizing she had been sleeping on Yan Kui’s shoulder, she abruptly sat up and hurriedly explained, “This isn’t my fault! I was just too tired, and my head fell there by itself. It’s not my doing!”

Yan Kui remained silent.

“Alright, we’ll soon arrive at our filming location. Before that, I’d like to introduce you all to the specifics of this shoot,” Director Chen announced.

Hearing this, everyone listened attentively, except for Tang Xin and Song Fengcheng, who seemed disinterested.

Director Chen continued, “This time, our filming location is a small town in Que City called Wuren Town.”

Upon hearing this, Lin Xiaoxiao frowned and said, “Wuren Town? What a strange name! Does that mean there are hardly any people living there?”

Her scoff echoed through the bus.

But the next moment, Director Chen confirmed, “That’s right, this town really doesn’t have many residents anymore.”

Lin Xiaoxiao and Liang Xiaoya looked surprised, and even Tang Zhishu and the others looked intrigued.

Yan Luo blinked her sleepy eyes and asked in her soft voice, “Why are there no people?”

Director Chen smiled mysteriously. “Because this town has now become a ‘ghost town.’”

“A ghost town?”

The group exclaimed in shock.

Noticing their fearful expressions, Director Chen chuckled. “Don’t be scared! This ghost town is different from what you might think. However, a major incident did occur here a few years ago.”

“What incident?”

Tang Zhishu was the one who asked.
