The Secret Behind the Veil Chapter 28

Chapter 28: “What Are You Afraid Of? I Won’t Eat You”

“Why not?”

At the same time, Tang Zhishu and Director Chen said in unison.

Director Chen was curious.

Tang Zhishu, on the other hand, couldn’t understand why she couldn’t have a room to herself.

At this moment, everyone turned their gaze to Yan Kui.

Without changing his expression, Yan Kui replied, “She’s a girl; it’s not safe for her to stay alone.”

Tang Zhishu frowned. “What’s unsafe about it? Everyone is in the hotel; am I going to be kidnapped or something?”

Yan Kui looked at her coldly and said casually, “That night…”

“I agree!”

Suddenly, Tang Zhishu shouted, quickly interrupting him.

Upon hearing this, Yan Kui raised an eyebrow, a trace of satisfaction flashing in his eyes.

Meanwhile, Tang Zhishu shot him a furious glare, feeling infuriated.

Damn him; he was actually using this to threaten her.

She almost wanted to pounce on him and bite him to death right then and there.

Director Chen sensed the tension between the two and confirmed, “Miss Tang, Young Master Yan, you’ve decided to share a room tonight, right?”

Yan Kui smiled lightly and nodded, “Yes.”

Tang Zhishu felt unwilling under his gaze but still nodded, “That’s right.”

She resolved that once he fell asleep tonight, she’d smother him with a pillow. That way, he wouldn’t be able to threaten her anymore.

Sure enough, after Tang Zhishu’s words, Lin Xiaoxiao, Liang Xiaoya, and Tang Xin all looked at her with jealousy.

When Tang Xin first saw that Yan Kui was also here, she was quite shocked.

She couldn’t understand why Yan Kui would participate in a variety show.

It clearly didn’t suit his status.

But now it seemed that he might have come for that scheming Tang Zhishu.

Tang Xin couldn’t wrap her head around it. During the last grand banquet, she had purposely pushed Tang Zhishu into him. Why hadn’t he made her pay for that? Instead, he came to participate in a variety show.

Tang Zhishu’s expression slightly twisted in frustration.

“Xinxin, what’s wrong?” Song Fengcheng asked, noticing her unusual demeanor with concern.

Tang Xin withdrew her gaze and said hatefully, “It’s nothing. Just seeing that Tang Zhishu makes me feel upset.”

Song Fengcheng looked at Tang Zhishu.

He took a moment to assess her figure and saw her alluring silhouette, which sparked a greedy look in his eyes.

But he quickly hid it, smiling gently as he said, “Silly, there’s no need to be unhappy because of that woman. Let’s do something exciting tonight.”

Tang Xin immediately understood what Song Fengcheng meant, and her cheeks flushed. “You naughty boy, it’s still light out, and you’re already thinking about teasing me.”

After arranging their accommodations, everyone followed Director Chen and the staff into the hotel.

As Director Chen took out the key and opened the hotel door, a chilling wind rushed at them the moment they stepped into the lobby.

Lin Xiaoxiao and Liang Xiaoya quickly hid behind the staff, frightened.

Even Yan Luo grabbed her sister’s hand.

Yan Bing remained expressionless.

At that moment, Fu Yushen glanced at Tang Zhishu. When he saw her face hadn’t changed, he averted his gaze.

The lobby was vast and empty, with some sofas and furniture covered by white sheets, making the place seem even eerier.

“Everyone, you must be tired. Please head to your rooms to rest. Our staff will notify you when it’s time for lunch,” Director Chen addressed the group.

After exchanging glances, everyone went upstairs with their companions to the rooms arranged by the production team.

Before the recording started, their activity area was limited to the second floor and the first-floor lobby.

Once everyone returned to their rooms to rest, Tang Zhishu reluctantly pushed the door open and stepped inside.

She saw there were two beds in the room.

Seeing this, Tang Zhishu sighed in relief.

Thank goodness, as long as it’s not just one bed.

Just then, the door swung open, and Yan Kui walked in.

As he closed the door behind him, Tang Zhishu, startled, jumped into bed without even taking off her shoes.

Yan Kui: “…”

Was he a ghost?

Did he need to scare her like this?

The tall, handsome man walked over to the bed where Tang Zhishu lay, hands in his pockets. He looked at the lump under the blanket with a smirk.

“Have you seen a ghost?” he teased lazily.

From under the covers, Tang Zhishu’s muffled voice replied, “The ghost isn’t as scary as you.”

Yan Kui: “…”

He raised his hand, rubbing his temples in exasperation. “What are you afraid of? I won’t eat you.”

Tang Zhishu: “I’d rather you eat me than scare me like this.”

The weather had become somewhat stuffy, and Yan Kui looked at the girl buried under the blanket. Concerned she might suffocate, he reached to pull the covers off her.

After tugging a few times without success, he frowned. “Let go.”

“Not a chance.”

“If you don’t, you’ll suffocate. If you have something to say, just get up.”

“Unless you leave, I won’t get up.”

Yan Kui’s expression darkened, and he pulled harder.

To avoid letting him uncover her, Tang Zhishu clung tightly to the blanket with all her strength.

Suddenly, Yan Kui swiftly picked her and the blanket up together.

In the next moment, he sat on the bed, holding the bundled-up Tang Zhishu in his arms.

“It seems you like it this way,” he said in a deep voice, a teasing smile on his lips.
