Chapter 7 No Way Back
“Master, you can’t go back!” Tiao Tiao sniffled softly, pouting as he answered Qin Ruo.
He wanted to go back too, he missed modern hot pot, ice cream, Match 3, cartoons…
“What? Say that again?” Qin Ruo couldn’t believe her ears.
“You died!”
“You were blown to pieces.” Tiao Tiao added glumly.
Tiao Tiao waved his small hand, and a replay of the scene appeared before Qin Ruo’s eyes.
After she finished her mission that night, she closed her eyes for a moment on the way back, and the car suddenly exploded.
It happened so fast that she didn’t even have a chance to hide in the space.
And after she came to the Great Sheng Dynasty, her memory only went up to the moment she closed her eyes.
Qin Ruo’s expression froze again.
Dead? Seriously?
Then what’s the point of going back?
She was blown to pieces, even if she found a way back, what would she do? Would she go back to that world as a ghost?
“Master, get me a big bed, and get me a silk quilt. This stone is too hard.” Tiao Tiao said to Qin Ruo with a pitiful expression.
If he had known this would happen, he would have built his big warehouse at the entrance, so he wouldn’t have to sleep on stones now.
Tiao Tiao hung his head and sighed.
Qin Ruo ignored him and turned her head away.
Tiao Tiao wouldn’t give up, he sat down opposite Qin Ruo.
He rested his elbows on his knees, propped his chin, and blinked his big eyes at Qin Ruo, trying to be cute.
“Being cute won’t work. I’m still sleeping on a small broken bed, covered with a small broken quilt. A big bed? A silk quilt? Dream on! Why don’t you just fly to the sky?”
Qin Ruo pushed away the little head that was getting close to her, looking disgusted. With a thought, she returned to the original owner’s room.
She didn’t have the mood to coax this little thing who had lived for thousands of years. Tiao Tiao came with the space, he existed when she got the space.
According to Tiao Tiao, they called themselves spirit beings.
He didn’t remember how many masters he had had, anyway, when the previous master died, he would bind to the next destined person.
Don’t look at Tiao Tiao, he only looks five or six years old, but he’s a little thing who has lived for thousands of years.
Because he was quite lively, Qin Ruo simply named him Tiao Tiao, and he followed her surname, Qin.
Over the years they had been together, Qin Ruo had long treated Tiao Tiao as family.
She didn’t restrict him, she brought Tiao Tiao to the world she lived in and let him live like a normal person.
He even went to kindergarten, which was quite trendy.
When Qin Ruo returned to the room, Tiao Tiao was still chattering away, so Qin Ruo simply blocked his voice.
The situation was already set, she could only take things one step at a time. After changing her medicine, she fell asleep.
The next morning, Qin Ruo woke up, or rather, she was woken up by the cold.
One corner of the original owner’s broken wooden bed had a broken leg, and it was propped up with a few stones she had picked up by the river.
Under the bed was a thick layer of straw, and the old cloth quilt was filled with cattail fluff, willow fluff, and straw, which was not very warm.
She couldn’t sleep, so Qin Ruo got up.
Looking at the sky outside, it was about six o’clock.
Qin Ruo touched the back of her head and felt something strange. The original owner’s body had something in common with her previous self.
That is, her wounds healed faster than ordinary people. In just one night, her wound had healed by more than half.
This gave Qin Ruo a little comfort. Although the original owner’s body was a little thin, her overall health was good, and she wouldn’t be a big burden.
After washing up, Qin Ruo went to the kitchen to prepare some food.
After sorting through the original owner’s memories last night, Qin Ruo realized that the original owner was a pauper.
Although she usually did odd jobs and hunted wild animals, all the money was handed over to Old Lady Qin, who controlled it.
The original owner didn’t even have a single copper coin on her.
For breakfast, Qin Ruo cooked a small pot of white rice porridge, a bowl of steamed egg custard, and a plate of pickled cabbage.
She wasn’t mistreating herself. Although making money was important, taking care of her body was even more important.
Qin Zimu was the second to wake up. Seeing the food on the table and Qin Ruo happily eating, Qin Zimu’s heart pounded.
It was impossible for the Qin family to have white rice porridge for breakfast. They usually ate some brown rice or rice bran with some wild vegetables.
Eggs, such a luxury, were only something that her brother was qualified to enjoy.
Now, seeing eggs and white rice porridge on the breakfast table, it was like a dream.
Qin Zimu could almost imagine Old Lady Qin’s furious reaction.
“Sister… no, aren’t you waiting for Grandma and Qin Zian?” Qin Zimu stuttered when he got nervous, and it took him a long time to squeeze out this sentence.
“If you want to eat, sit down. If you don’t, go out.” Qin Ruo didn’t even look up at Qin Zimu, she just said it calmly.
She wasn’t planning on making breakfast for Old Lady Qin and Qin Zian.
They had hands and feet but were unwilling to support themselves, so they could starve.
Qin Zimu stood there without moving. When Qin Zian was home, Grandma wouldn’t allow anyone else to eat before Qin Zian sat down.
“Or, I’ll go call Grandma and Qin Zian…”
“Stop! I made the breakfast, what are you worrying about?” Qin Ruo frowned, thinking that this brother was probably an idiot.
One person held all the family’s finances, and the other ate and wore better than him, why would they be afraid of not having enough to eat?
Seeing Qin Ruo’s unhappy expression, Qin Zimu quickly sat down.
He was a little restrained at first, but as he ate, he relaxed.
The egg custard was tender and smooth, golden in color, fragrant, and sprinkled with a little green onion.
Even the pickled cabbage was crispier and tastier than usual.
Qin Zimu ate voraciously, forgetting everything else and focusing on his food.
Old Lady Qin had woken up a while ago. Hearing the noise from the kitchen, she slowly got dressed and got out of bed.
Old Lady Qin didn’t go straight to the kitchen. She washed up slowly in the courtyard before going to wake up Qin Zian.
“Qin Zian, it’s time to get up. Your sister has already made breakfast.” Old Lady Qin stood outside Qin Zian’s window and called out a few times.
Not long after, Qin Zian opened the door. He had only eaten a bowl of rice last night because he was sulking, and he was already starving.
Old Lady Qin gave him a way out, and he took it.
“Qin Zian, Grandma scolded your sister last night. Your sister knows she was wrong. She got up early to make breakfast for you. Don’t be angry with her, Grandma will take care of it for you.”
Old Lady Qin saw that Qin Zian was still frowning, so she quickly coaxed her heart and liver with a smile.
When the grandmother and grandson arrived at the kitchen, Qin Ruo was just pouring the remaining egg custard into Qin Zimu’s bowl.
Old Lady Qin saw the eggshells on the stove and her face turned green.
“Are you crazy? Eating eggs early in the morning, and you even used four? How much money do you have to waste like this?”
“You prodigal, you even used fine rice to make porridge, that’s specially bought for Qin Zian!”
Old Lady Qin counted the eggshells on the stove, then looked at the clay pot next to it, where there was still white rice stuck to the side. She was so angry that her voice cracked.
When she moved her eyes to the two empty bowls on the table, Old Lady Qin realized that Qin Ruo hadn’t made breakfast for her or Qin Zian.
“You wicked child! You wicked child!”
Old Lady Qin was so angry that she covered her chest and swayed.
