The Simple Life of Big Fool in the Mountain Village Chapter 35

Chapter 35: Snakes at Night

Wang Dafu felt the softness of her back and a smile spread across his face.

“You fool, did the kiss on your little mouth feel good at noon? Do you want it again?”

Wang Dafu was stunned.

“Sister-in-law, you weren’t asleep?”

From behind, Wu Xianhua snorted, “Of course I wasn’t dead asleep. That little girl has no manners. She didn’t know how to leave. I was closing my eyes, hoping she would go, but she went and bothered you. You fool, listen. That little girl is not someone you can trust. Be careful and don’t associate with her too much!”

Wang Dafu nodded, “I don’t like her family either, especially that Zhang Laopozi. She’s a shrew. I only just found out how wild Wang Xueqi is!”

“Humph! She’s a shameless little slut. Who knows who she’ll seduce next. Don’t believe her when she says she likes you!”

Wu Xianhua was very unhappy. She didn’t know why, but whenever another woman tried to get close to Wang Dafu, she felt nervous. It was the same with Yanchun Jie and now Wang Xueqi.

Soon, they finally reached a valley. The terrain was flat, and there was a water source nearby. It was just unmanaged and abandoned.

Wu Xianhua jumped off Wang Dafu’s back and looked ahead. “Dafu, that land in front is all your Big Mountain Brother’s. I think your family has a little bit too. It’s too far from the village, and it’s inconvenient to plant anything, so it’s been abandoned. What do you think?”

Wang Dafu looked up. It was all overgrown with weeds and some trees. It would be a big project to clear the land.

“It’s pretty good. It’s probably several mu. I think it’s good!”

Wu Xianhua was unsure. This land was abandoned because it was too inconvenient. Now Wang Dafu wanted to plant watermelons here. Wouldn’t he have to carry the watermelons out by hand?

There was no road, and the tricycle couldn’t get in.

“You fool, are you really going to plant here? When the watermelons are ripe, you’ll have to carry them out one by one. That’s so troublesome!”

“I’ll carry them. Making money isn’t easy. Sister-in-law, I’ll come over tomorrow to clear the land. You’re not feeling well. Stay at home. I can do it alone!”

Wu Xianhua sighed. It all felt unreal. She nodded, “Okay, just be careful. Sister-in-law won’t say anything else. When you’re done clearing and turning the soil, I’ll go buy watermelon seedlings. We’ll go back when we’re done.”

After deciding on the location, Wang Dafu and Wu Xianhua walked back. The weather was too hot, and the sun was too strong. Even with straw hats, it didn’t help.

When they got home, it was still early. Wu Xianhua didn’t have anything to do, so she stayed in the house for a while. She wasn’t feeling well and didn’t want to move. This time, Wang Dafu would be responsible for dinner.

Wang Dafu took a basket and went to the garden. He found that the eggplants, cucumbers, and tomatoes were all ready to be picked. They were all average in size and quality. He thought about it. The watermelons hadn’t been planted yet, so there should be a lot of liquid in the gourd. Why not nourish the garden and make the vegetables even tastier?

Right now, Wang Dafu opened the lid of the gourd, smelled the fragrance, and dripped all the liquid in the gourd into the garden. If nothing unexpected happened, he would be able to eat unique vegetables and fruits tomorrow.

Back in the kitchen, Wang Dafu called for dinner. He made something simple. During this time, that girl, Wang Xueqi, came over again. She chatted with Wu Xianhua about trivial matters. This time, Wu Xianhua didn’t pay much attention to her and looked impatient.

“Dafu, my dad said there are a lot of loaches, eels, and frogs in the village fields at night. It’s the best time to catch them now. They’re a delicacy you can’t buy. Should we go catch a bucket tonight?”

Wang Dafu smiled, “The fields are all mud. You might even encounter a venomous snake. Aren’t you scared?”

Wu Xianhua snatched the words, “Dafu has something to do tonight. He’s not going!”

Wang Xueqi was a little disappointed and gritted her teeth, “What’s the matter, Dafu? Didn’t we always go catch these things together when we were kids? What am I afraid of?”

Wu Xianhua shook her head, “I said no, I don’t have time!”

Wang Xueqi snorted and shook her head, “Fine, I’ll find someone else!”

Then, she got up and was about to leave.

“Dafu, when I catch some, I’ll send some over for you to try!”

With that, she left the yard.

Wu Xianhua glanced at the yard and whispered, “I don’t know what she’s up to.”

Wang Dafu finished making dinner and brought it to the table. They started eating.

“Sister-in-law, you used to love eating loaches and eels too. Why don’t you let me go catch them this year?”

Wu Xianhua shook her head, “It’s not that I don’t want you to go catch them, it’s that I don’t want you to go with that woman, Wang Xueqi. You can go with anyone else.”

Wang Dafu thought for a moment. It wasn’t convenient to go alone. It was better to have more people to help. Sister-in-law was on her period and it wasn’t convenient for her. He should go find Yanchun Jie!

After all, Wu Xianhua knew what kind of person Yanchun Jie was. She should be more at ease.

“Then I’ll go ask Yanchun Jie for help. How about that?”

Wu Xianhua really wanted to eat fresh wild food from the fields, but she couldn’t go into the water. Wang Dafu couldn’t go alone. It seemed like only Yanchun Jie could help.

“Then be careful. Give Yanchun Jie half of what you catch!”

Wang Dafu smiled and quickly ate his food, “I know.”

The tools they used to catch loaches, eels, and frogs weren’t electric shockers. The village didn’t allow them. They could only use traditional clamps. It all depended on how fast their hands were.

After dinner, Wang Dafu went to wash the dishes. Wu Xianhua looked at Wang Dafu’s diligent manner, her eyes filled with joy. Wasn’t this what a good man was like?

He could take care of everything when she wasn’t feeling well, and he could protect her from the wind and rain. Compared to her dead husband, Wang Dafu was much more considerate.

No wonder Yanchun Jie and Wang Xueqi liked Wang Dafu.

Wu Xianhua was increasingly satisfied with Wang Dafu. She didn’t realize it herself, but sometimes when she looked at him, a smile would unconsciously appear on her lips.

“Dafu, be careful. There are snakes at night!”

Wang Dafu put on a pair of rain boots, took his clamps, bucket, and flashlight, and prepared to go out.

Wu Xianhua was always concerned. Wang Dafu nodded vigorously, “Sister-in-law, don’t worry. Wait for me to bring back some delicious food for you!”

He happily went towards Yanchun Jie’s house, which wasn’t far away.
