Chapter 37: A Huge Eel
Zhang Hao couldn’t get Yanchun Jie, and he watched helplessly as Yanchun Jie was seduced by Wang Dafu. He couldn’t take it anymore. He pulled the two people behind him and charged forward, “Wang Fool, I don’t believe you’re naturally strong. We have three of us today, and we brought weapons. Are you still going to be arrogant?”
After saying that, Zhang Hao and the other two took out steel pipes. One of them even had a knife.
Wang Dafu was not afraid at all. He stared at Zhang Hao, “You’re asking for it?”
Zhang Hao yelled and swung the steel pipe directly at Wang Dafu. Wang Dafu dodged and pulled Yanchun Jie back. It was inconvenient on the paddy field embankment. Zhang Hao swung too hard and fell into the paddy field, covered in mud.
The other two charged forward, looking menacing. Wang Dafu punched with his right hand. His strength was too great, and his speed was too fast. Before they could react, he hit them in the face.
The last one was scared by the force. He dropped the knife in his hand and smiled, “Dafu, we’re all old acquaintances. It’s a misunderstanding. I…”
He took a few steps back and turned to run. Wang Dafu didn’t chase after him.
Zhang Hao’s old injuries hadn’t healed yet, and now he had new ones. His hatred for Wang Dafu was insurmountable.
“I understand. Zhang Hao, you’re the one who stirred up the paddy field. That’s why I couldn’t catch anything, right?”
Wang Dafu looked at Zhang Hao and the others suddenly appearing here. He immediately understood why he hadn’t caught a single loach!
Zhang Hao didn’t answer. He stood up, covered in mud, and backed away while looking at Wang Dafu.
Wang Dafu didn’t bother with this kind of villain. He picked up his bucket, pulled Yanchun Jie, and whispered, “Don’t pay attention to this trash. Let’s go look again!”
After driving away Zhang Hao and the others, Yanchun Jie’s excitement was gone. She felt very frustrated. Several times, she was about to take things further with Wang Dafu, but this trash, Zhang Hao, always appeared at the right time, ruining their mood.
They changed locations again. Wang Dafu searched for loaches and eels in front, and Yanchun Jie followed behind, carrying the bucket and helping to look.
Without Zhang Hao’s sabotage, Wang Dafu quickly caught several large loaches. He was delighted!
“Yanchun Jie, this loach is so big and fat. I’ve never seen one like this before!”
Although he was big and strong, his hands and feet were not clumsy. Every time he used the clamps, he could accurately catch the loaches.
In half an hour, the bucket was full of good catches. Wang Dafu estimated that if they caught for another hour, they would have enough fresh wild food for a good meal tomorrow.
Yanchun Jie followed behind Wang Dafu. She helped with the light and carried the bucket, but she was distracted for some reason.
“You fool, you weren’t like this before!”
Yanchun Jie suddenly spoke.
“How?”
Wang Dafu’s attention was all on the field. He didn’t turn around.
“You used to be bullied by Zhang Hao and those people, and you wouldn’t fight back. Sister didn’t know you were so good at fighting!”
Wang Dafu turned his head and looked at Yanchun Jie. He smiled, “Even a rabbit will bite when it’s cornered. Why should I be bullied by those dogs forever?”
“But Zhang Hao is a notorious hooligan in our village. He knows a lot of shady people. They say he has connections outside. Sister is worried that he’ll plot against you!”
Wang Dafu also knew that Zhang Hao was a villain who wouldn’t easily give up. He was always on guard.
“Yanchun Jie, what will be, will be. Don’t be afraid of anything!”
Wang Dafu acted nonchalant.
Yanchun Jie watched Wang Dafu’s smug expression and couldn’t help but laugh, “Okay, Dafu, you have guts. When did you learn to show off with a few fancy words?”
Wang Dafu laughed along, “I’m a learned man, after all. Don’t talk. Yanchun Jie, there’s a good catch ahead!”
He immediately lowered his voice and tiptoed forward, extending his clamps. Yanchun Jie also became nervous and shone her flashlight ahead, so Wang Dafu could see more clearly.
Plop!
A soft sound. Wang Dafu struck like lightning, instantly clamping a huge eel. This eel was almost as big as a snake. After being clamped, it kept wriggling and twisting, looking a bit scary.
Yanchun Jie covered her cherry-red lips, completely stunned.
“It’s so big! I’ve never seen an eel this big before!”
“Hehe, Yanchun Jie, this biggest eel is for you!”
Yanchun Jie looked at Wang Dafu, “Why for me?”
“This big eel is a good thing. It can replenish blood and energy. It’s good for you women!”
Yanchun Jie remained silent and nodded slightly. Wang Dafu threw the big eel into the bucket. Yanchun Jie stared at the eel, her eyes complex and not innocent. She was lost in thought.
“Yanchun Jie, let’s go?”
Wang Dafu turned his head and looked at Yanchun Jie. He saw that she was staring at the bucket, motionless. He called out to her, and Yanchun Jie finally came back to her senses and followed Wang Dafu’s pace.
“You fool, it’s getting late. We have a lot in the bucket. It’s enough to eat. Are you still going to catch more?”
Wang Dafu also wanted to go back, but he was a little unwilling. He had been interrupted by that disgusting Zhang Hao at the beginning of the night. He wanted to catch some more.
He glanced ahead and smiled, “There’s another field ahead. Let’s take a look, then we’ll go back!”
Yanchun Jie, like a good wife, obediently nodded, carrying the bucket, and followed him.
They caught a few more decent loaches. They had a good harvest tonight. Wang Dafu turned around and took Yanchun Jie back.
Yanchun Jie had been carrying a bucket, and the weight was constantly increasing. She was a woman with no strength, and her hands were sore.
“Dafu, let’s rest. It’s tiring!”
