Chapter 38: Save Me!
Yanchun Jie put down the bucket behind her. Wang Dafu turned around and chuckled softly, “Okay, let’s rest for a bit. I’ll carry the bucket.”
They found a patch of grass to sit down. Wang Dafu patted his clothes and prepared to wash his hands in the nearby ditch.
As he reached the ditch, a scream came from behind him!
“Ah! Dafu, save me! There’s a snake!”
Wang Dafu turned around abruptly and rushed over. Yanchun Jie was jumping up and down, frantically waving her hands. Wang Dafu shone his flashlight and saw a small red snake that Yanchun Jie had pushed away, lying on the ground. It was trying to escape.
Wang Dafu followed closely and stomped on the red snake, killing it instantly. He looked down and gritted his teeth, “It’s a red whip snake. It’s venomous!”
Then, he returned to Yanchun Jie’s side and asked urgently, “Yanchun Jie, where did it bite you?”
Yanchun Jie was still shaken from the fright. Her face was pale, and she was clutching her thigh, shaking her head, “It bit me here. It’s bleeding!”
Wang Dafu shone his flashlight and looked down. The wound was on the side of Yanchun Jie’s left thigh. Because Yanchun Jie was wearing a short denim skirt for coolness, her white thighs were exposed. Now, on the snow-white skin, there were four tiny teeth marks, constantly oozing black blood. It was very eye-catching.
“Yanchun Jie, this snake is venomous. I need to suck out the venom. Bear with it, I’ll be quick!”
Yanchun Jie was in a panic and didn’t know what to do. She thought she was going to die from the venom. She gritted her teeth and said, “You fool, be gentle. Sister is afraid of pain!”
“Don’t worry. I’ll suck out the venom and then put some medicine on it. You’ll be fine!”
Yanchun Jie urged, “You fool, hurry up and suck it out. Sister’s leg feels numb!”
Wang Dafu didn’t waste any time. He immediately started sucking the venom out of Yanchun Jie’s wound with his mouth. As soon as he touched her skin, Yanchun Jie felt a jolt, her heart racing. On this night, in this field, on the grass, their posture was so strange. If anyone saw them, they would think they were doing something else!
Wang Dafu sucked a few times. Yanchun Jie’s body went limp, and she had no strength. Wang Dafu spat out the venom he had sucked out, wiped his mouth, and quickly took out the gourd. While Yanchun Jie wasn’t paying attention, he opened the lid and poured out a drop of the mysterious liquid. He gently rubbed it on the wound with his finger.
“Done?”
Yanchun Jie, still immersed in pain, came back to her senses. She looked up at Wang Dafu. By now, Wang Dafu had already hidden the gourd. He nodded, “It’s done. I brought some medicine with me. I put some on your wound. You’ll be fine soon.”
Yanchun Jie nodded and looked at the wound. She felt strange.
“Dafu, why do you carry medicine with you?”
Wang Dafu chuckled, “It’s easy to get bitten by snakes when you’re out in the fields at night. I usually carry medicine for snakebites. As long as it’s not a very venomous snake, I can treat it!”
Yanchun Jie’s anxiety finally subsided. She looked at Wang Dafu with seductive eyes. Recalling how the fool had sucked on her thigh wound, she felt her heart pounding.
“Dafu, Sister’s leg still hurts a little. Why don’t you carry Sister back?”
Yanchun Jie gritted her teeth, a little embarrassed.
Wang Dafu secretly laughed. The liquid in his gourd wasn’t ordinary medicine. As long as he applied it, it would immediately stop the pain, bleeding, and infection. Yanchun Jie said her leg still hurt. She was definitely lying, deliberately wanting him to carry her.
He didn’t expose her. He pretended not to understand, squatted down, put the clamps in the bucket, and turned his hand over.
“Okay, I’ll carry you!”
Yanchun Jie’s ploy worked. She threw herself onto Wang Dafu’s bear-like back, her whole body pressing against him.
She held the flashlight, illuminating the way for Wang Dafu as they walked back.
The night was dark and windy, and you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face.
Wang Dafu jumped from the paddy field embankment onto the road, causing Yanchun Jie on his back to bounce up and down.
“Dafu, you’re so strong!”
“Yanchun Jie, you’re so soft!”
Wang Dafu laughed.
Yanchun Jie blushed. She felt embarrassed, but she was secretly thrilled. She deliberately wriggled her body.
“Where am I soft, Sister?”
“Everywhere!”
Their conversation became more and more suggestive. Soon, they reached Yanchun Jie’s doorstep. Wang Dafu put Yanchun Jie down and looked back.
Yanchun Jie reluctantly walked over and opened the courtyard gate. Wang Dafu carried the bucket and they walked in together.
They reached the well. Yanchun Jie took out a bucket, and Wang Dafu poured half of the wild food he had caught tonight into it, keeping the other half for himself.
“Yanchun Jie, clean them first and then stew them.”
Yanchun Jie looked at the half in her bucket and shook her head, “You fool, how much can Sister eat? Take some more. You and your Sister-in-law need to eat more. Besides, you caught the loaches and eels. Sister only provided the light. You should take more!”
Wang Dafu waved his hand, “Just half. Yanchun Jie, keep it and eat it slowly. I’ll go now.”
Seeing that Wang Dafu was about to leave, Yanchun Jie pulled him back, “Sister has a lot of vegetables here. I can’t finish them all. Take some back!”
With that, Yanchun Jie was about to go to the kitchen and bring out the fresh vegetables and fruits she had just picked.
Wang Dafu suddenly remembered that he had dripped a lot of the mysterious liquid into his own vegetable garden that evening. He would see the surprise tomorrow morning.
“Yanchun Jie, we have some at home. Keep them for yourself.”
Yanchun Jie was too enthusiastic. She insisted on giving them to Wang Dafu, so he had to accept them.
As he was leaving, Wang Dafu looked at Yanchun Jie seriously.
“Yanchun Jie, in the whole village, besides my Sister-in-law, you’re the best to me. I’ll never forget your kindness. This time, I’m going to plant two seasons of watermelons. They’ll sell for a good price. I want to give you a share, Yanchun Jie. Don’t go out to work. It’s too hard outside.”
Yanchun Jie was stunned. It was as if she was meeting Wang Dafu for the first time.
When did this weakest and most incompetent fool in the village become someone who could protect her from the wind and rain?
At this moment, she felt that Wang Dafu wasn’t joking. He was serious.
She had also heard about Wang Dafu borrowing Wang Laotou’s tricycle to haul watermelons a few days ago. Now, many people in the village were secretly discussing how Wang Fool’s watermelons were so special.
Yanchun Jie thought for a moment and nodded, “What should Yanchun Jie do?”
