”Let me take a bite of the Zhou Zhou bun.”
Li Zhouzhou came to his senses, broke off the part of the steamed bun that he had not bitten and handed it to his husband. Unexpectedly, his husband did not take it, but came over and took a bite of the piece in his hand.
”I see you are eating so deliciously.” Gu Zhao said vaguely.
Li Zhouzhou blushed, lowered his head to eat noodles, and said, “Husband, do you want more?”
”No, I’ll just try a bite, otherwise I won’t be able to finish the noodles.”
Now, the diners who were talking behind their backs knew what the relationship between the two was. One person said: I told you that I just heard the tall guy call the scholar “husband”, but you didn’t believe me and insisted on arguing with me. Another person said: He is so tall, how could he be a brother? I didn’t expect that he really is.
Another person said: Why do you care how tall they are? They are a loving couple, and they only share one piece of steamed bun.
After hearing this, Li Zhouzhou secretly glanced at his husband. His husband must have heard it, so he deliberately bit his bun.
After lunch, the two of them took a break before leaving town and going home. On the way back, Gu Zhao took another break. By the time he could see the wheat fields of Xiping Village, the afterglow had already fallen. Today, his pace was still a drag. If he followed Zhou Zhou’s way of walking, he wouldn’t have to get up too early in the morning. He could leave at about six and arrive at eight. He could get home at three or four in the afternoon and cook and eat like usual before it got dark.
We need to light oil lamps to eat today.
”Dad can do it.” said Li Zhouzhou.
When they got home, as soon as they entered the yard, Li Da said, “There’s multi-grain porridge in the pot. You two can eat it and take a rest.” He was not worried about Zhou Zhou.
”Thank you, Dad. Have you eaten?” Gu Zhao helped his wife unload the backpack.
Li Da saw Gu Zhao holding the backpack with his arms, his brows jumped, and he turned around and told Zhou Zhou to kill a chicken and give Gu Zhao some good nourishment for the winter. How could he let this go?
”I’ve eaten.” Li Da said and went into the house.
Gu Zhao put the basket on the ground and put the pen, ink, paper, and inkstone back first. Li Zhouzhou easily carried the bamboo basket in one hand and went to the kitchen. There was only a handful of firewood left on the stove, so he lifted the lid of the pot and took a look.
Dad can’t control the porridge when he cooks it, and he always uses too much force, so it’s like eating dry rice every time.
While the stove was still burning, Li Zhouzhou packed up the things he had bought. He poured the salt into the salt pot and put the vinegar aside. He would open the half jar at home after they had finished eating. He also bought some preserved fruits, which his husband liked to soak in water to drink, as well as coarse tea leaves and the big bones that his husband wanted to buy, saying that he would stew them with radishes to make soup.
Farmers don’t like to buy these big bone sticks without meat, and it takes a lot of firewood to cook them into soup, but his husband said that drinking this way can nourish the body and help grow taller, so Li Zhouzhou believed it.
Put away the meat, sugar and wine that you will bring to Dongping Village tomorrow.
By the time they actually had dinner, it was already completely dark. There was no need to go to the main room, so the couple could eat directly in the kitchen where they would still be warm.
”The multi-grain rice cooked by our father is quite good, and goes well with pickled radish.” Gu Zhao walked a lot today and consumed a lot of energy, so everything he ate tasted delicious.
Li Zhouzhou: “…” My husband said let’s eat.
After finishing the meal, he washed and soaked his feet. Blisters appeared on the soles of both of Gu Zhao’s feet. Li Zhouzhou used a needle to heat it over an oil lamp and pricked the blisters for her husband.
Gu Zhao stood up and hissed in pain.
”Husband, I’ll carry you into the house.” Li Zhouzhou said.
Gu Zhao: …
Does he still want his manhood?
Gu Zhao stretched out his arms and whined shamelessly, “Hug me, my wife.”
Li Zhouzhou picked up his husband easily. He didn’t know what his husband meant by “wife”. It was probably a name for someone in the house or woman. He didn’t think it was wrong. He was his husband’s wife.
”Zhou Zhou, when I grow taller and older, I will hug you like this too.” Gu Zhao swore, his head pressed against his wife’s chest muscles.
Li Zhouzhou: “Okay.” he wanted to make bone soup for his husband.
Gu Zhao got on the kang to warm the bed. Li Zhouzhou went back to the kitchen to clean up the basins for washing and then returned to the room with the oil lamp. He got on the kang, took off his clothes, and his husband came over to him.
My husband is afraid of the cold, so I like him to hold me when I sleep.
