“Fine, not that foolish.
At least the acting is good enough to get him into the house.
Guan Ciyan wasn’t angry anymore. He calmly waited to see what Jian Yang planned to do by staying by his side.
Jian Yang thought that Guan Ciyan had taken medicine and was sleeping soundly. He knelt by the bed, contemplating whether to follow the plot and stay or leave and face bad luck.
His life had always been full of choices, each path thorny.
The wind moved the dividing curtain, bringing the coolness of early autumn. On the ivory-white curtain, graceful calligraphy was written, and the three panels together spelled the words “Come and go freely.”
He didn’t know whose calligraphy it was.
Guan Ciyan’s room was very different from the image in the book. The room wasn’t so large that it lost its human touch. The wooden sliding door of the bathroom sunk down, and there was a set of low Japanese-style tables, with a tatami mat replacing chairs.
The floor-to-ceiling windows were movable, with no barriers outside, so opening them would allow one to jump out.
On the pearwood desk by the window, some strangely shaped decorations were placed.
The room’s décor was expensive but understated. Jian Yang couldn’t tell what the items were, but he could feel their costliness.
Staying by Guan Ciyan’s side was a gamble. No one truly understood Guan Ciyan. He might be able to wait for the plot to play out and lift the restrictions, but the likelihood of living long enough to see that was low.
The long curtain was lifted by the autumn breeze, almost as if it was a reminder of something.
Jian Yang stood up, walked to the window, firmly gripped the window frame, and leaned out to close it.
Though it was a small villa, the space was high enough for someone to die from a fall.
He wondered what kind of design Guan Ciyan had created, leaving a balcony like this.
With the wind shut out, the curtain swayed slightly. Guan Ciyan’s face was hidden in the darkness of the word “Come.”
Jian Yang gently closed the door and left, expecting to have trouble sleeping, but as soon as he lay down, he fell asleep.
When there was no answer, he was anxious, but now that he had been sentenced to death, he felt at ease.
It was like a wife who had always suspected her husband of cheating but finally caught him, feeling incredibly relieved.
The next morning, as the effects of the medicine wore off, Guan Ciyan dressed and went downstairs. As usual, he ate breakfast and asked the butler, “Where is he?”
The butler stood aside, “Mr. Jian hasn’t woken up yet.”
Guan Ciyan glanced at his watch, “It’s 8 o’clock. Go wake him.”
The butler hesitated, “Yes, sir.”
After a while, the butler returned, “Sir, he’s been called.”
Guan Ciyan casually responded with an “Mm,” and began replying to work emails from the previous night.
By the time he finished his work, it was already 9 o’clock.
The living room was empty. Guan Ciyan called the butler, “Make sure he eats well and then leave.”
The butler replied, “Sir, Mr. Jian is still asleep.”
“Didn’t I tell you to wake him up?”
“I can’t get him up, sir,” the butler answered.
“Zhang Bo,” Guan Ciyan said softly, “You need to find a way to get it done.”
“Understood, sir.”
Zhang Bo had taken care of Guan Ciyan since he was young. As for how he treated others, it was another matter, but he never made things too difficult for Zhang Bo. Guan Ciyan went upstairs.
He opened Jian Yang’s door to find complete darkness.
The curtains were drawn tightly.
The nightlights installed throughout the villa were also covered with clothes, so as soon as he entered, it was like being blind.
Guan Ciyan took two steps inside and stopped, calling out, “Jian Yang, Jian Yang.”
No response.
Guan Ciyan rudely turned on all the lights in the room.
But it had no effect on the person on the bed.
On the enormous bed, only a small lump could be seen at the lower left corner. Jian Yang was curled up in the quilt. Guan Ciyan approached, pulling the quilt, but it was wrapped tightly around Jian Yang, leaving only a few short hairs exposed, indicating that he was still inside.
“Get up,” Guan Ciyan said harshly.
The person, wrapped up like a dumpling, didn’t move.
No wonder the butler couldn’t wake him.
But Guan Ciyan wasn’t just someone who would use his mouth. He grabbed the quilt, and when he first pulled, it didn’t budge.
Jian Yang had wrapped himself up like a spring roll, with the quilt twisted around him over and over again.
Guan Ciyan paused, then pulled the quilt and kicked the person inside.
Roll, roll, roll…”
Jian Yang rolled from the left side to the right, feeling as though he had a dreamy, floating experience. He wanted to wake up, but his eyelids were too heavy to lift.
He had been an actor for eight years, so he was used to not sleeping if he couldn’t, but if he could sleep, he would sleep deeply.
He never wasted any second of rest, ensuring that he was in the best condition to face his work.
His quality of sleep was so good it was infuriating to others.
“Get up!”
Jian Yang heard a buzzing in his ear, but it had no effect.
The little whale was waking up… loading…
Guan Ciyan circled to the right side of the bed, seeing Jian Yang lying there. His left cheek was pressed into the bed, leaving sleep marks, and faint pink lines were visible at the corner of his lips, his cat-like tongue licking the corner of his mouth. His thin cheek was slightly puffed due to the pressure.
This was the first time Guan Ciyan failed at waking someone up.
In his life, he rarely encountered such a defeat.
The second young master of the Guan family couldn’t lose.
Guan Ciyan suppressed his anger, pinched his fingers, and grabbed the small puff of flesh on Jian Yang’s face, pulling it upward.
Suddenly, pain struck Jian Yang in his sleep, and his nerves gradually awakened at double speed.
“Mm, mm…” Jian Yang sat up, following the pull from Guan Ciyan.
Still groggy, he slapped Guan Ciyan’s hand away with a loud “smack.”
“It hurts.”
Guan Ciyan wasn’t angry at all. He looked at Jian Yang, sitting on the bed, his little mouth pouting high, his round apricot eyes glaring at him. His hair stood up in a complete mess, his whole body radiating anger, as if he was about to jump up and bite or scratch him any moment.
“Are you going to the hospital?” Guan Ciyan casually asked.
Jian Yang’s eyes filled with anger, his little mouth pouting even more, and he sulkily replied, “Yes.”
“Get ready and come down.”
Guan Ciyan walked out the door, feeling refreshed.
After being angered so many times, he finally scored one point. He really enjoyed seeing Jian Yang angry.
What if he had other intentions? What if he was angry?
In the end, Jian Yang still had to obediently put his claws away in front of him.
Guan Ciyan had no hobbies or interests in life. Jian Yang was fortunate enough to become his first toy.
