Chapter 14: Turn Around and Carry Me
As soon as she heard it, she answered with a simple “Yes” and then went into B room.
He nodded in response. “Yes.”
“That’s it?” she asked, surprised by the brevity of his response.
“That’s it. Let’s go eat,” he said, taking the lead as they headed out. Jiang Mi, still a bit puzzled, followed him out.
Only the barrage of comments on the screen seemed to grasp what was really going on:
[Haha, what’s with this mutual jealousy? They’re acting like a cute couple. I love it!]
[So, Guo Chuan is actually upset because Jiang Mi kept talking to Fu Li, right?]
[The “Jealous King” title is well-deserved.]
It wasn’t until they reached the dining room and saw Lu Yu that Jiang Mi finally realized what was going on. She leaned in close to Guo Chuan’s ear and whispered, “Brother, the Lu Yu you were asking about is right over there. Why don’t you go talk to her?”
Guo Chuan responded, “No, I’m going to sit down and eat.”
Jiang Mi laughed softly, “If you won’t go, I will. Not only will I have dinner with her, but tonight we’ll sleep in the same bed.”
Guo Chuan: “……”
After Jiang Mi sat down, Lu Yu, with her head lowered, cautiously asked, “Mimi, did you say something bad about me to Guo Chuan?”
“Of course not. Why would you think that?” Jiang Mi replied.
Lu Yu was on the verge of tears. “But I feel like the way he looks at me is so scary, so scary.”
Jiang Mi couldn’t hold back and burst out laughing, “Don’t worry, he doesn’t hit women.”
Lu Yu was suddenly startled—did that make her feel better or worse?
Soon, all the guests arrived. Jiang Mi looked at the table full of delicious food, and her appetite surged. She picked up her knife and fork and started devouring the steak.
Lu Yu, tempted by the food, forgot her fear and quickly started eating as well.
But it was already past 9 p.m., technically time for a late-night snack. Lu Yu wanted to eat more, but her figure wouldn’t allow it. After eating a small piece of steak to satisfy her craving, she regretfully put down her knife and fork, ready to commiserate with Jiang Mi.
But when she turned her head, she saw Jiang Mi finishing off her steak, moving on to pasta, then pizza, and finally cake…
Lu Yu was completely stunned.
No, everyone was stunned.
How could a young female celebrity eat so much late at night? Is this a moral downfall or a distortion of human nature?
[Is Jiang Mi intentionally building a “foodie” persona?]
[Ugh, celebrities trying to build a foodie persona is the dumbest thing ever. It’s a guaranteed failure.]
[If Jiang Mi says she doesn’t gain weight no matter how much she eats, I’m really going to be sick.]
The ever-present Bai Ruoruo wouldn’t miss out on such a moment: “Mimi, I’m so jealous that you can eat so much at night and not gain weight.”
It sounded like a compliment, but it was actually a sly dig.
Previously, there had been a female star who tried to build a “foodie” persona on a variety show and then did a humblebrag about not gaining weight no matter how much she ate, making many girls envious. But it was later exposed that she was fake-eating, and the backlash was so intense that she didn’t appear in public for six months.
But Jiang Mi elegantly forked a strawberry and smiled, denying, “Of course, if you eat a lot, you’ll gain weight. But if you do, just exercise and lose it.”
Caught off guard, Bai Ruoruo didn’t know how to respond, as it didn’t fit her plan. She stammered, “I’m just really bad at it. If I eat too much, I gain weight, so I have to avoid a lot of delicious food to maintain my figure.”
Shen Mingxuan gently comforted her, “Ruoruo, you’re not fat at all. If anything, I think you’re too skinny. Go ahead, eat more.”
Bai Ruoruo smiled shyly.
But the next second, her smile froze.
“It’s not about being bad; it’s about being lazy. If you’re determined enough to exercise, you won’t gain weight.”
Jiang Mi rolled up her sleeves proudly and showed off her biceps.
Halfway through showing off, she suddenly met Guo Chuan’s smiling, dark eyes.
Jiang Mi’s heart skipped a beat. She lowered her gaze and noticed her pale, delicate arm.
Damn!
She miscalculated!
This isn’t her original body!
Jiang Mi quickly lowered her arm, coquettishly stroked her long hair, and then surreptitiously glared at Guo Chuan before earnestly delivering some advice.
“Eat when you should, drink when you should, and live life to the fullest.”
As an experienced internet user, Guo Chuan suddenly thought of a trending phrase.
Cute but fierce.
A spoiled Ragdoll cat, neglected by its owner, would extend its soft little paws to scratch in protest.
[Hahaha, Jiang Mi, don’t think I didn’t see you fail at showing off.]
[If you can’t eat and drink to your heart’s content, what’s the point of life!]
[I’m loving this. Jiang Mi and Guo Chuan must be for real, right? Even from a distance, their gazes are sweet. I’m completely sold.]
After Jiang Mi snapped at Bai Ruoruo, she quieted down, not causing any more trouble. Everyone finished eating peacefully, and the director urged them to head to the small rooms for their “Heartfelt Interviews.”
“Next up, the guests will record their heartfelt interviews about their initial impressions.”
[Ahhh, the most exciting moment has arrived.]
[This is going to be thrilling, I’m totally looking forward to it.]
But the director’s next words caught all the viewers off guard.
“Today’s live broadcast ends here. See you tomorrow at 10 a.m.”
[What?! They’re not live-streaming the heartfelt interviews? I was waiting to see if Jiang Mi would choose Guo Chuan or Shen Mingxuan!]
The director humbly waved his hand, “After all, we still have to edit the variety show. We have to leave some suspense, but don’t worry, the heartfelt interviews won’t wait until the show airs. We’ll reveal them at an appropriate time.”
[I smell a conspiracy brewing.]
[The show’s team is definitely planning something again!]
[Here’s a prediction: in the second half of the show, when certain couples are getting close, the producers will suddenly reveal their initial impressions. Haha, the drama will be off the charts!]
Jiang Mi looked a bit upset as she left the interview room. Being forcibly controlled by the system program was really annoying her.
When she looked up, she saw Guo Chuan’s unusually handsome profile.
Her mood soured even more.
Jiang Mi called out, “Stop!”
Guo Chuan, with one hand in his pocket, leaned against the wall, standing tall and firm like a pine tree.
Hearing her, he turned his head to look at Jiang Mi.
“I wasn’t planning on leaving.”
“Come here.”
Guo Chuan took a step closer, standing two steps away from her, lowering his gaze slightly to quietly observe the girl in front of him.
From a distance, he could tell she seemed upset.
Now up close, he could clearly see her slightly red eyes, and the small mole near her eye seemed to have lost its vitality.
His brow furrowed imperceptibly, and he softly began, “You…”
“Turn around,” Jiang Mi interrupted, her red lips pursed as she issued her command.
The concern on Guo Chuan’s lips was swallowed back. His thin lips pressed together as he stared at Jiang Mi and asked, “Is this a command from Miss?”
The title “Miss” seemed like a secret code between them, or perhaps it was some kind of forbidden trigger.
The small, dark mole near her eye regained its lively charm.
Jiang Mi tilted her delicate chin slightly and spoke in a spoiled tone, “Yes, Miss orders you to turn around, squat down, and carry me on your back.”
