Chapter 15: Kissing His Adam’s Apple

Jiang Mi lifted her delicate chin and spoke in a commanding tone, “Yes, as your lady, I now order you to turn around, squat down, and carry me on your back.”

Gu Chuan’s gaze lingered on her now lively face, and a faint smile tugged at his lips.

“Yes, Miss.”

He turned and crouched down, his broad back now visible to her, strong and imposing, exuding power and an irresistible allure.

Jiang Mi blushed lightly as her arm touched his broad shoulders, feeling as if she had been burned—hot and intense. She cleared her throat, “Alright, take me back to my room.”

Gu Chuan replied, “Miss, I apologize for the offense.”

Before she could ask what offense, his calloused, warm palm slipped beneath her knees, sending a tingling sensation through her entire body. She felt weak, her body going soft from his touch, and a soft sigh escaped her lips.

Gu Chuan silently carried her back to her room, each step steady and secure, filling her with a sense of safety. As he was about to set her down, he paused and asked with concern, “Miss, your heart is racing. Should I take you to the hospital?”

Being carried meant close physical contact, leaving no space between them. It wasn’t hard to notice each other’s rapid heartbeats. But asking now, just as he was about to put her down…

Jiang Mi, now seated on the bed, still had her arm wrapped around Gu Chuan’s neck, their positions almost like that of a couple in a close embrace. However, there was a hint of irritation in her voice.

She softly said, “No need, I know the reason.”

Gu Chuan raised an eyebrow, seeming to ask her what that reason was. But before he could say anything, Jiang Mi suddenly smiled, her eyes sparkling like a starry night, beautiful and bright. Then, a sly glint appeared in her eyes.

She tightened her arm around his neck and raised her head.

“Mimi, the moon is so round tonight. Let’s go outside and look at it,” Lu Yu said, wide-eyed as she stared at the two of them, who were so close they looked inseparable.

Suddenly, a cold, dangerous gaze fell on her, as if a lion who was feeding had been interrupted and was ready to tear everything apart.

Frightened, Lu Yu took two steps back, bowed at a ninety-degree angle, and stammered, “Sorry to disturb you,” before turning and running away.

Gu Chuan: “…”

Jiang Mi: “…”

Panicked and flustered, Lu Yu rushed forward, bumping into what felt like a wall of flesh. She let out a yelp, stumbling back, nearly falling, only to be caught by a hand on her waist.

“Sorry, did I hurt you?” a voice asked.

“No, it’s my fault,” she replied, rubbing her sore nose as she looked up, only to meet a pair of cold, narrow eyes behind gold-rimmed glasses.

The image of a dissected stuffed bunny suddenly flashed in her mind.

Ah! The horrible memories are back!

She apologized, almost in tears, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to bump into you!”

The word “sir” escaped her lips as she frantically apologized.

A hint of interest flickered behind the glasses. “Little rabbit, I apologize. Did I scare you again?”

Again? Why say “again”? It felt like something a twisted murderer would say!

Her face turned pale, and she ran off again.

Fu Li watched her flee in terror, pushing up his glasses with a slight smile. Suddenly, he noticed Gu Chuan approaching, his gaze landing on the noticeable red mark on his Adam’s apple.

Fu Li glanced back in the direction Gu Chuan had come from, his expression darkening slightly. “There’s a mark on your neck.”

Gu Chuan touched his Adam’s apple, recalling the soft, sweet sensation of her lips. Rubbing his fingers together, he noticed a faint red stain on them.

With a slight smile, he explained, “Scratched by a cat.”

There was no cat in the villa. Maybe it was a little wildcat from one of the rooms.

That night, everyone had their thoughts: Shen Mingxuan, Chen Wanruo, and Bai Ruoruo in Group A; Cheng Lin, Fu Li, and Gu Chuan in Group B; and Lu Yu, terrified, with Jiang Mi’s thoughts running wild in Group C.

The next morning, Jiang Mi woke up promptly at 6:00 AM. During her travels through different worlds, she had been a female special forces soldier a few times, and it was then that she developed a biological clock that woke her at six.

After changing into workout clothes and tying her hair into a high ponytail, she went out for a run. The original owner of her body had been pampered, leaving her with soft, delicate flesh. While it felt nice to touch, it wasn’t very practical.

Breathing in the fresh morning air, she heard a low growling sound nearby. Looking up, she saw a strong, majestic Tibetan mastiff lying on the ground, looking at her with a pitiful expression.

She smiled and jogged over to let it out of its cage. The dog rubbed its massive head against her, looking ready to howl in joy, but before it could, she pushed its head back down.

“They’re still sleeping. Be quiet,” she scolded gently.

The dog let out a low, pitiful whine. Ignoring it, Jiang Mi surveyed the area, decided on a running route, and began her morning exercise with the mastiff.

Meanwhile, Bai Ruoruo, who was upset about Jiang Mi stealing the spotlight yesterday, got up half an hour early to prepare breakfast for everyone, successfully gaining favor, especially from Cheng Lin, who was starting to show signs of being a loyal follower.

At that moment, Jiang Mi returned from her run. Her simple workout clothes highlighted her impressive, toned figure, and her high ponytail revealed her striking, beautiful features.

Compared to yesterday’s seductive red dress, she now exuded a refreshing and heroic aura. Regardless of the style, she was stunningly beautiful.
