Chapter 160: Mutual Understanding Between Husband and Wife
“You fell to the ground, still clutching the wheelchair. If the bodyguard hadn’t pried your hand away, you would’ve flipped the chair over. Once the wheelchair tipped, Mr. Fu would have been thrown out. Since we’re on an incline, if anyone rolled down the mountain, it could have been life-threatening.”
“Miss Bai, as the cause of the incident, what right do you have to blame the person who saved you?”
Though hypothetical, the reasoning was sound.
Bai Ruoruo’s face instantly darkened, and the crowd suddenly realized the truth.
Yes, Bai Ruoruo had fallen herself. The bodyguard didn’t push her; he had only pulled her hand away to quickly stabilize his employer’s wheelchair.
And besides, Bai Ruoruo had all her limbs intact. Falling wouldn’t have hurt her too badly. But if the wheelchair-bound Mr. Fu had been thrown to the ground…
Bai Ruoruo’s face twisted for a moment. Glancing at Mr. Fu’s stern expression, she quickly put on a pitiful act. “The situation was so urgent just now, I was terrified too. Thank you, bodyguard, for protecting Mr. Fu.”
Her tone almost sounded like she was Mr. Fu’s future wife.
The bodyguard glanced at Mr. Fu and didn’t dare to argue. He stiffly replied, “Protecting the boss is my duty.”
Bai Ruoruo smiled again, turning to look at Mr. Fu with teary eyes and a sweet voice. “Mr. Fu, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault for being so clumsy. I can’t even walk properly and nearly harmed you.”
Mr. Fu glanced at her shoes and said calmly, “Wearing high heels to climb a mountain is indeed foolish.”
Bai Ruoruo was stunned. Did Mr. Fu just call her foolish?
Jiang Mi looked at Mr. Fu with amusement—was he really a sharp-tongued, no-nonsense guy?
Bai Ruoruo quickly lowered her eyelashes, pretending to be isolated, and started sobbing softly. “I thought we were going to the Love Cabin, so I wore high heels. It’s all my fault, I didn’t know.”
Jiang Mi clicked her tongue. “Let’s not even mention that the show gave us a heads-up three days ago about the mountain village filming. Even when we gathered at the Love Cabin, the director reminded us in front of the livestream audience about the trip to the village. Were you deaf? Didn’t you hear?”
Bai Ruoruo was completely caught off guard by Jiang Mi’s retort and had no idea how to respond. She resorted to her usual tactic—looking pitifully at Mr. Fu, seeking his protection.
But she noticed Mr. Fu was looking at Jiang Mi.
Bai Ruoruo’s heart rang with alarm.
This wretched woman! She already has Gu Chuan, but now she wants to seduce Mr. Fu too?
Seething with hatred, Bai Ruoruo bit her lip, and in a soft, tearful voice, she whined, “Mr. Fu, sob, sob…”
Mr. Fu furrowed his brows slightly and parted his lips, about to say something.
But Jiang Mi spoke first. “Oh dear, I forgot that Miss Bai and Mr. Fu are that kind of relationship. My apologies, I’ll leave you two alone.”
As soon as she said that, Jiang Mi pulled Gu Chuan’s wrist and continued walking up the mountain.
At this point, the online comments were in hysterics.
[Hahaha, Mi-bao really knows how to say it.]
[What kind of relationship? Lovers or sugar baby?]
[I originally thought Mr. Fu was elegant and handsome, and was considering making him my crush, but if he’s really that kind of relationship with Bai Ruoruo… yuck.]
Meanwhile, Mr. Fu, watching the two figures ahead of him, didn’t hesitate. He gestured to the bodyguard to quickly push him forward.
When he caught up with Jiang Mi and Gu Chuan, he gently thanked her, “Thank you, Miss Jiang, for speaking up on behalf of my bodyguard.”
Jiang Mi’s expression turned cold as she looked at Mr. Fu, a hint of hostility flashing in her eyes.
She had noticed earlier that while Bai Ruoruo was acting all pitiful and coquettish, Mr. Fu had been secretly staring at Gu Chuan.
And now he had even left the fallen Bai Ruoruo behind to come chat with them.
Jiang Mi was about to speak, when another low voice cut in.
“That’s not necessary. She wasn’t helping you; she was just annoyed by Miss Bai’s act.”
“No need. Mimi wasn’t helping you; she simply can’t stand Miss Bai.”
